She is the most phenomenal performer!!!! Yesterday at the WBRU free concert in Providence was the most fun I had ever had at a concert, period. She was very high on energy. Which although the night before she had, seemed a little forced. I think this might be because she was disappointed that only half the crowd had filled in the stadium during her pre-dark performance. However last night, she was so ON you could have run lightbulbs off her skin! She had the bullhorn out by the end of the first song and when she put it down, much to the pissiness of security, she bodysurfed the crowd (while rent-a-cops held and pulled on her shoes trying to retrieve her while she sang "Wild"). She also performed Trigger-happy-Jack which was painfully missing from the 45-minute set the night before. People were petting her hair (not like a dog but like a goddess that you can't help but want to touch). She sprayed us down with her water bottle on three occassions and throughout and after the perfomance she and the band threw off stage anything they had on them! Including: her non-fiction choker, water bottles, about seven drumsticks, a towel and a stuffed football someone had thrown up to her. The crowd was unlike any of those I had seen in a New England concert recently. Ferverent, welcoming and HAPPY yes, you read that right. Poe actually managed to pull the proverbial stick out from their collective nether region and the crowd loved her for it! There were several folks their with video cameras whom I am sure could make many friend should they come forward to share! Wow, what a refreshed outlook I have on life today! ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 3 Jul 2001 11:27:23 EDT From: IxlstarIxI@aol.com Subject: PR: July 2nd show in R.I. Wow, that was the best experience of my life. Not only was Poe even more incredible than the night before with depeche mode but you could tell she was so into the crowd. During Wild she came off the stage and sat on the barrier between my brother and I and we (Poe and I) sang the chorus ( we were face to face two inches away, whoa). Then she kind of crowd surfed as much as she could with security grasping onto her ankles. After the show the group of people i was with were hunting for her but she must have been seeking some down time, which is ok. So we talked with Ziggy (i want one of him) and then with Mark for a long time. Mark's the coolest thing ever. Wow, the whole thing was incredible. It beats out seeing U2 a month ago for best concert I've ever been to. If anyone else was there and you somehow got a picture of me singing with Poe can you send me the pic (via email), that would be fantastic. I'm 16 years old...with a birthday around the corner :) I first heard Poe while driving around with my friend Bonnie the summer after my freshman year of high school. She made me listen to Angry Johnny :) Soon after, I was hooked. Other musicians I listen to are Tori Amos, Bjork, PJ Harvey, Weezer (since the old stuff!), Guster, Ben Folds Five, Semisonic, and Dido...just to name a few. Yesterday's concert was amazing. Poe was definately filled to the top with energy...crowdsurfing? :) That caught me by surprise...especially when she ended up less than 3 feet in front of my face. There's a good picture of that on its way...That reminds me, I need to run to the photolab today...2 rolls of film. Lets see if I can remember the setlist...anyone...please...correct my mistakes! Terrified Heart Control Trigger Happy Jack Wild Hey Pretty (with spoken word by Mark) Angry Johnny Haunted 5&1/2 Minute Hallway That's all i can remember... I loved the way some of the songs were reworked for the stage. The crowd was generally happy, but there were a couple of morons who were apparently there for Gruvis Malt...I wanted to step on them. After the show my friend and I went around to the side of the stage and I signed one of my ceramics pieces (thanks again, to the girl who was prepared - unlike me - and had a sharpie i could borrow!) and gave it to the bassist to give to Poe. Hope she liked it! See you all later! ~Bill~ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 3 Jul 2001 09:11:55 -0700 (PDT) From: John H Subject: Re: POE ON LENO I taped it and also taped Conan from last week - --- Denise Thomas wrote: > > ok. > > who taped it? > > Denise, who should have checked her email last night > :-/ > --- XxObLiViOuZxX@aol.com wrote: > > > > Ok Yeah I know that this has already been talked > > about and all but AHHHH I > > just barely realized that she was gonna be on > > tonight everytime she is on TV > > I miss it! That was, BY FAR, the best show I have ever seen in my entire life! I was right up next to the stage. I got to touch her whn she crowd surfed, which was fucking awesome. I can't believe that show was FREE! She is without a doubt the best performer I've come across. We sang Happy Birthday to her drummer's 1 year old and they taped it. I met Mark (and also touched his ass to try to help him onstage [He shoved through us and I thought he was a fan until I turned around ready to ream him out and I was like oh shit it's Mark.]) I got the autographs of the whole band and chatted it up w/ all of them about this and that. Darius was so cool. He said the energy was stupendous and she was stoked to have had so much liveliness at the show. Unfortunately, she had promo shit to do afterwards and disappered right after the show. Darius had said that he hadn't even seen her all day because she had promo stuff to do. He said she'd be very upset to knoe that the die-hard fans did wait around to see her and were disappointed, and he also did say it was unlike her to miss out on fan time but she's getting very big and has stuff to do. But the rest of the guys stuck around, so that was cool. Mark was around forever after the show. Her bassist (I forget his name now) wore the same pants he wore on Leno. The day was well worth the heat and enormous crowd. She is definately The Mistress of Groove! April ps I got a ton of comments on my "If you were you would know" Angry Psycho#9 tee-shirt. Everyone thought it kicked ass and I don't blame them! :) ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 03 Jul 2001 10:41:43 -0600 From: "Courtney Coslet" Subject: NPR: Re: Ara! I wholeheartedly agree, Fiddler's is *the* worst venue and for some reason everyone I really wanna see ends up being forced to play there. You don't know how happy of a jig I dance when someone plays Red Rocks. For instance, TOOL is playing there on the 3rd of August-I don't care how much tixs are, I'm GOIN! Seeing Poe at Fiddlers might be harsh but hey, at least you get to see her ;-) I'm too poor right now to afford tixs but I hope to meet all the Denver listees at our get together of sorts.... Have faith, however. I saw the Red Hot Chili Peppers at Fiddler's last summer and they rocked, despite shitty sound requirements (ironically, that's the neighborhood I hail from. People are *bitchy* there, mark my word). I ususally see about 10 shows a summer, however, this summer I had to cut down. I'm seeing Dave Matthews next week right here in Boulder (yeah riding the bus to the concert and not having to worry about parking!), Green Day at the end of July and Blink 182 at the beginning of August, I'm not a big Blink fan but my little brother insisted that I take him so I said, ah hell... OK, I'm totally off topic now. I should go shower or somethin'.... This is my first post so I thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Nathan, I'm almost 16, and I'm from Southeastern Massachusetts. I first heard Poe when my friend had me listen to Angry Johnny and I bought Haunted back when it was released in the fall. I immediately fell in love with the song Haunted, and completely ignored the other tracks. I finally played the whole CD through and loved it. Hmm. . .I have a wide variety of musical tastes. I like everything from Bif Naked, to Madonna, Dido, Fuel, J-Rock to classical music. So. . .yeah, that's me. :) I went to the concert in Providence last night. I was at a good spot, too, right on the left a few feet away from the guard rail that separated the crowd from the disgruntled security people. I'm sure all the others who were present would agree, it was completely MINDBLOWING! It was my first ever "actual" concert and it was a great first. One thing that I thought was great about the concert was the wide diversity of people there all coming together to enjoy themselves and stuff. Yeah, that sounds corny, doesn't it? But doesn't it just make you want to join hands and sing "We Are the World"? Or not. :) So, her performance was great. The opening band was good too; I'd started cracking up when they started singing "Independent Women" and the "Facts of Life". Kudos to Poe, she must've been tired after her performance at the Tweeter Center this weekend, but she sounded beautiful. The energy was through the roof; we all went nuts especially during Angry Johnny and she was head banging around the stage. She crowd surfed AND sang at the same time. Let me tell you, that must take a lot of talent. Then, the said disgruntled security people had mild heart attacks and started pulling her out of the crowd by her ankle. We sang happy birthday to the drummer's son, and that was really fun. Poe enjoyed that :) The extra verse in 5&1/2 Minute Hallway was cool; does anyone remember it? After 5&1/2....she booked it off stage. We were hoping for an encore, but I'm sure she's a busy person, so it's understandable that she didn't come out again. I really would've liked to speak to her or Mark, but I didn't see either of them. I wish I had something to give to someone to give to her, I don't know, flowers or something. Oh yeah, she squirted us with her water bottle! That was fun...I got wet twice (after the first time I turned to the person next to me and said excitedly: I've just been baptized by Poe! :)) OK. . . this message has turned out far longer than I intended it to be, so I'll leave you all alone now. - -Nathan ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 3 Jul 2001 13:07:48 EDT From: BluesyBear@aol.com Subject: JONES BEACH tonight Hey hey...hope to see ya'll there...I am going to ambush the security guards to try and get backstage. BOO! and futhermore, she's going to be in atlanta, where he is and not me! how teasing and taunting! anyways, i guess i'll survive, but wow i guess i'm just silly.. because i keep trying to catch reruns and stuff with her interviews on tv that i missed, but i must be messing something up or getting confused because i'm missing them.. ahhh emme! anyways, i could really go on and on but i am so sorry for taking up so much space to start with! ((i know it can be quite a trick to find time to read all of this stuff sometimes..)) hehe, i tend to ramble.. part of my lack of sanity i supposed... surry, ciao! much lovin, *~*emme*~* ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 04 Jul 2001 05:27:29 -0000 From: "Vanessa Miranda" Subject: Re: POE ON LENO >From: Trueluhv2000@aol.com >To: Litesneeze@aol.com, angry-psychos@smoe.org >Subject: Re: POE ON LENO >Date: Tue, 3 Jul 2001 22:57:35 EDT > > >Get this!
