I said that if a woman is being beaten and wants to leave home, she may need a gun to protect herself depending on how violent her asshole husband is. Guns DO NOT kill unless it is wartime or you are a criminal. These guns are either issued by the government or obtained illegally. Legal guns cause barely any fatalities. The media has an antigun bias and is traditionally liberal, so of course you willhear all the sob stories involving a gun fatality (plus it sells more papers and commercial time). For the truth see gunsandcrime.org. There should be no restrictions on honest people taking an interest in their own protection. Might as well ban cars that kill many people and can be used for malicious purposes. What about knives or even fists. Lets ban those because people get beaten to death all the time. And unless you've played live music in front of people (I was in a pretty bad band for a couple of years as well as years of piano lessons and recitals). I also had a live radio show and did public speaking. And I was ALWAYS nervous for the first couple of minutes. If you're not nervous, you just don't care. This album means so much to Poe. If you'd look below the surface and see that this is not just "nerves", it's about how much she cares and her passion for her music, her vulnerability and humanity that this album in so rich with. Personally, I would rather see someone who's nervous and less than "perfect". It's real, it's human and it's inspiring that someone has the courage to get up and perform their art knowing that there are critics out there waiting to jump on any misstep but they do it anyway. stephen www.xiveren.com "But you know something? Okay, first, I'd like to say something that I don't think very many people are aware of. In California law, for kidnapping a dog, the largest sentence a person can get is 10 years in prison. Ten years. Here's why: kidnapping a dog goes under stealing property...so the largest sentence the person can get is as stated. For KILLING a dog, however, the largest sentence a person can get is 6 MONTHS (because this goes under animal cruelty...the largest sentence for animal cruelty is 6 months in california). Six fucking months for the MURDER of an animal....TEN FUCKING YEEAARS for the KIDNAPPING, without hurting the animal. Does anyone else find this utterly ridiculous? Just making sure....anyway, onward: In his defense: I must say, I do not think that he said he thought it was bad. I think he just said that it is ridiculous when animal abuse cases take over the entire country and results in ignoring when things happen to humans at the same time. I half-agree, half-disagree with him...so please don't flame me. lol. Here's why: See, I think all life is just as worthy. I'm like a Buddhist. (But a hypocrite Buddhist at times because I do enjoy killing ants...lol.) But anyway, I do think it is ridiculous if ANY one case (animal or human) ends up making people ignore others. I mean, this intern that's missing...what about the thousands of others who are also missing right now? Why is she so much more important than the rest of them? She's not...not to me anyway. It's all a matter of knowing people in high places and having the $$ to advertise it. Yeah. I have to totally agree with Ani... I think this nation is completely idiotic when it is more punitive towards a kidnapping than a killing of an animal. Then again...that is exactly what they are..ANIMALS. Please do not misinterpret my opinion into an animal-hater remark. I too love animals, i have 2 cats and 2 dogs and a brother. :) But I think its very very very stupid when people act and TREAT their animals as though they were human! Yes pets are smart, and loyal, and all that other mushy stuff...but we forget that they are just animals! We know the world can be a cold place to live in...but its not all bad. And if it is ...well...we're screwed because we can't go anywhere else anyway. Does the media really need to exploit this subject? it can..and it has. The media will exploit anything! you don't need to know someone to be on t.v., or have $$. All you have to do is make it juicy and they will come. Reporters can't cover all deaths at the same time, or all abuse cases. The media can't exploit everyone at the same time. They aren't God you know... *sigh* Capital punishment turns the state into a murderer. But imprisonment turns the state into a gay dungeon-master. yeeehaaa! ride'em cowboys! lolol well..thats my 2cents. If I'm not mistaking, they have more cd's (3 or 4). The only song I know is a song that was recorded on cooperation with Wink, on the soundtrack of Spawn. That song is rather cool! These situations are excactly the situations when Napster-like programs prove their value ! ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 27 Jun 2001 12:59:49 -0700 (PDT) From: "Mr. Riko's Pants" Subject: Re: :::::poe on conan I also think Poe sounded great. Anyways he was looking at a bunch of my notes and found the one about "A face in a cloud, no trace in the crowd" (yes that is how it is supposed to really go) and he said there was a funny story that went with the phrase. He said it was supposed to be a song on Haunted, but it did not make the cut. Which I thought was really awesome to hear about. If anyone has any other information on this please tell me. I know that Eric (litesneeze@aol.com) was there with me and he can back up what I said about the talking to Mark thing. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 27 Jun 2001 16:49:56 -0400 From: "Jeff" Subject: [none] I definately want to go to the Rock Hall show. "Darkest Days" is their best album in my opinion, followed by "Wither Blister Burn and Peel." If you'd rather hear them do a more main stream album, I understand they've chucked their industrial roots on this new album to make a more market friendly one. Which is odd when you consider they tried to sound more poppy once they were religated to a smaller lable. Usually it works the other way. Oh well.
