What our lady POE means to me: When i first bought Hello it was after i fell in love with Angry Johnny, Trigger Happy Jack and Hello off the radio. (back when i didn't have a lot of money i used to buy CDs if i liked 3 or more songs off their album) and i bought the album and i loved it. i loved how i could relate so many of the songs to my life, i would play the whole album over and over and whatever particular song fit my mood.... trigger happy jack i totally sang with my very first boyfriend in mind the psycho that he is. i still can't talk to him like a normal human being... and that day seemed as if it was about one whole summer that i just couldn't get anything right. dolphin i just loved. i loved the way the music flowed and the words and i loved that one first and most i think. i liked how all her songs didn't sound alike but they were all her. when haunted came out i was so excited because i hadn't known it was going to come out, and after it did i wondered about a tour so i looked around online, which is how i came about being an AP :) . again i was totally blown away with how awesome POE is. haunted is a song that came out right at a time of my life that i'm haunted... a year out of school, friends moving away... many high school friends who i just can't get along with anymore.... another huge reason i admire her is because her songs aren't just stupid sappy love songs (no offense to anyone who loves them, i only like a few) but i happen to believe there is more in life than just looking for the right one, riding off into the sunset and living happily ever after... there is family and i have a big family, and i love how much her father is in this album, and her brother, and how she works with her brother. and they are life songs. not just love songs, or songs written about nookie and i have so much respect for her for that. that her songs sound so awesome and are written so well. i got to see POE at the house of blues. and i swear i sent an email about it... but its not in my sent mail. so i know i wasn't very awake and probably wrote it and and never sent it without even knowing. but. i did have to wait in line but i got in. and i saw poe and she put on an AWESOME show. and i was sooo sooooo happy that she did that smaller show because my dad is in the hospital right now and it would have been so much harder to get back to him if i went to DM/poe, than being able to leave the much smaller show. i got to be close enough to see her clearly and hear her and to get her autograph! and i waited in line for 2 hours and she waited until everyone got autographs :) because she is such an awesome person that she chatted with everyone and wrote all over so it was completely worth the wait. i would have waited longer. (and i did get to wait behind other APS... and i didn't introduce myself. for some reason just knowing we were with APs seemed good enough... but for the APs at the end of the line with me (the poe line, not the ticket line, hehe), and my friend jason, this is who we are :) anyway first poe signed my album and she wrote my name and spelled it right AND she signed my HOL on two pages, then Mark signed my HOL too!!! and he's sooooo hot. well, of course, poe was too. runs in the family. hehe. but it meant sooooooooooooooooo much to me that this person that makes this music that i can relate to and sing along with and that i have cried to and i meet her and she's so nice and we got a pic together (thanks tony!!!) and my best friend went and he loved it. and... it meant so much to me, and is something that i can file under "will never forget" even if i have amnesia. ok. i think thats it. i have to go to bed now so i'm not cranky for work tomorrow... i am taking suggestions of funny words i can used in the place of cuss words ( i got completely busted for cussing a lot at work the other day. ) bye. shari ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 24 Jun 2001 01:34:33 EDT From: Dan98908@aol.com Subject: Poe tour, with special guests Depeche Mode --meet and greets In a message dated 6/23/01 9:39:38 PM Pacific Daylight Time, Litesneeze@aol.com writes: > > I don't know if she's doing it everywhere but for instance the Cleveland > show > (tomorrow), she is having a brunch with the Ohio APs. Woohoo! > ~Eric > Well, the Poe tour, with special guests Depeche Mode, is almost two weeks old. Initially all APs were supposed to be allowed to come to the sound checks. Then there were some stalker problems or some such foolishness on the Depeche Mode side and they freaked and put up the tightest security in the world! So far we have been doing pretty good about getting APs and Poe together! In Chicago it was the House of Blues show, we even got permission to get it video taped! In Cleveland it is the brunch with Poe and Cody doing a mini performance. There are different surprises being worked on for each venue it is POSSIBLE to have them at and Poe, Fishkin Entertainment and Nettwerk Management have been working their BUTTS off to make SURE that we have the best time that we can with the INCREDIBLY limited time Poe has to spend with us. I am going to try to get a week long itinerary of what her life has been like during this tour and I think we will ALL be amazed she is still standing!!! I will put together a quick list and give you the specifics as SOON as I know them and you can give final confirmation then. If there is one man who has done the MOST to bring Poe and her APs together, it is Paul Fishkin. He, Stevie Nicks and Todd Rundgrun started Modern Records and gave Poe her start. He is the driving force behind Haunted getting jump started when things started slowing down. Poe would not be on this tour, had it not been for Paul's hard work! When we lost our sound checks it was Paul who stepped up and got us involved in the House of Blues show, in the Poe Brunch and in other things we cannot announce yet. It was Paul who got us hooked up with Lenno and helped get the LA concert worked out ( though it had to be postponed, it WILL still happen eventually!). While he may not participate in the list or come to events he IS an Angry Psycho! Paul's Dad is seriously ill in Philadelphia and it does not look good. I have never heard Paul as down as he is. He told me this is the first time he has had to deal with the death of a loved one. I think it would be good of us to tell him how much we appreciate what he has done for us and that our hearts are with him in this sad time. You can send your thoughts to Fishkinentertainment@yahoo.com. The other was also a black t-shirt that said Poe on the front and I'm not sure what was on the back but it was very similar to the other one and was $35. The Detroit show was VERY cool. Mark was there to do Hey Pretty. She also did Angry Johnny, 5 1/2 Minute Hallway, Control, Wild, and Haunted. The best part..... during Haunted, she took off in the crowd and was singing the Ba Da Ba Ba part at the end. And she totally ended up on my blanket on the lawn with me and my 4 friends were singing along into her microphone :) THAT WAS SO COOL! If you are not on Erik's list and you can't convince me you let him know then you may very well not make the list! Make sure you give him your guests names too, and he needs first and last names for all of you. The reason this is important is Poe's people ask me how many tickets I need when they open an event. I look at Erik's list and that is how I decide. Just as an example for the Poe Brunch in Cleveland I was asked how many tickets I needed. There were 9 on Erik's list, I figured some would have someone special to bring , even though they didn't put them on the list --so I doubled it and said 18, but just to be sure, make it 20. These guys are too busy with Poe and kissing Poe's closing act's ( Depeche Mode) butt to be dealing with needless stuff like this. If WE don't get our act together we may find ourselves uninvited! I know a lot of HOW I am trying to say this is lost in the words, but I am NOT mad, this is just Fatherly advise from an old man that knows :) And ... I know I need to get MY act together as well and try to smooth out the planning and try to get some advance notice on some of this stuff! Erik, Robby, TonyC, Becky, Mark, Mike and Shell have been GREAT with all their help and encouragement and I sure can't leave out Sandra from LA. There are times I want to pull my hair out while I am being sick, but you guys both the named ones and the ones that have called me with thanks or to give me reports of how things went ---you make it ALL worth while!!!! Thank you SO very much!!! This can be pretty stressful stuff on my end trying to keep EVERYBODY happy! I especially want to thank the ones who have taken the time to call me after, and in a couple cases even DURING an event to let me know how it went! Your excitement and happiness is infectious and REALLY pumps me up to do even MORE and BETTER stuff! So get you names to Erik, even if you only THINK you can go. It is a LOT easier to take you OFF the list if you have to cancel then it is to get you on if you are late. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 24 Jun 2001 14:57:59 EDT From: Prozackitty16@aol.com Subject: EBAY ANGRY JOHNNY REMIX well...some meanie out bid me on the single guys!! It's not something you can just solve by going to the police once, > twice, or more. Sometimes {notice sometimes, not always, not most of the > time, SOMETIMES} the woman would need a gun to get out of there. > Actually that's not usually the case, if the woman says that she was hit, the police are obligated to treat it as she was hit. The problem is that in most of the cases I have seen, the woman actually denies anything happened. Virginia has actually taken a step against this by making a law that says that in a domestic violence call, there WILL be an arrest made. I am personally against that rule though, because they carry it too far, in one case a daughter and mother got into a fight over her driving privilages and it ended with the mother saying she couldn't drive until she was 18. The daughter got angry and threw the key. The father heard all this and called the police on them and the daughter now has an arrest record for throwing a key. The parents didn't want her to get arrested, and she didn't want to be arrested, but nobody had any choice here. This is the problem with laws in general, make them too strict and the innocent get caught. Make them to lenient and the guilty go free. Too lenient and the wife-beater gets to stay home, too strict and an angry child gets an arrest record for the offense of having thrown a car key. Strict gun control means someone who "needs a gun" can't get the gun in a timely fashion, too lenient on the gun control and a guy who shouldn't even be allowed near sharp and pointy objects (including Dennis Miller's tongue and asparagus tips) can get himself a saturdaynight special in no time flat. This is what everyone seems to be arguing, and it'll never get anybody anywhere. - -Mike ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 24 Jun 2001 19:49:21 -0000 From: "monkeygrrl _" Subject: Re: NPR: Ours >Anyone like/heard of OUrs? Then start "Napigator" it will provide you with a list of servers. Much like "IRC" is held on a variety of networks, and we use "Dal Net" as our network of choice, using "Napigator" lets you select an alternative network. Sort them by network, then click your way around till you find one that will let you in, it usually takes a few tries. B: Get "Bearshare" http://bearshare.com you will have much better luck locating files of ALL types using this software, HOWEVER, make SURE that you go through the options and set it up so that you only provide files from a directory of your choice. I only make stuff by Poe available, but I also mirror eds navelsex site Bearshare is the offspring of "Gnutella" trust me, it is the one to get, and the lawyers are going to have a hell of a time shutting it down as it is not about .mp3s, it is about ANY file format... sp00k etc ... I heard Hey Pretty while I was in Vancouver on the 22nd! It was tight, although I have a question...This version had the words to House of Leaves (I believe) in spoken word where the verses would be, but the chorus was still there. Am I hearing a freak cool thing that some radio station did in Canada, or is this a regular occurance? It was so cool, the story was about two people having sex in a car, the girl was wearing leather pants? Does this sound familiar to anyone who has read the book?
