If you want to be on the lists you need to notify the event coordinator listed on Erik's list (http://houseofleaves.4t.com/house2.html) as well as Erik (exej@aol.com). To be safe you should ALSO forward a copy to me, and I will follow up with the event coordinator and Erik. There COULD be a problem about room at some of the events. I have been saying they are open to APs and their guests. Some are giving me 7 guests when I only have 25 seats for EVERYONE! So far I have been able to accommodate everyone, but I am thinking about a new policy and tell me if you think this sounds fair or not.... If the event has lots of space I will announce it as open to APs and ALL their guests. If there is a finite number of tickets ALL APs on the list 48 hours before the event will get in with one guest. If you have more then one guest BY ALL MEANS put them on the list, letting me know which ONE is the primary. If I have room or can get more room I will make EVERY effort to accommodate them ALL, but if we are crunched for room here is my priority list. APs first, primary guests second and equally important as the AP, next would be immediate family, then everyone else would be first come first served and MUST be on Erik's list and mine 48 hours before the event! If anyone feels this is not a fair way to handle it, or if anyone has a better way, PLEASE let me know --- but to avoid list clutter, please let me know email. I am WIDE open to suggestions! For Cleveland I am 11 over my allotment, but I think I can make it work. If anyone is on the Cleveland list that is NOT going, please let me know as soon as possible so I don't have to beg and grovel to the radio station that is hosting the event. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 22 Jun 2001 23:12:51 -0700 (PDT) From: John H Subject: Re: [NPR] Doctors Is that registered gun owners or all gun owners?! - --- Mamcdowell@aol.com wrote: > > Number of physicians in the U.S.: 700,000. > > Accidental deaths caused by physicians per year: > 120,000. > > Accidental deaths per physician: 0.171 (U.S. Dept. > of Health & Human > Services). > > Number of gun owners in the U.S.: 80,000,000. > > Number of accidental gun deaths per year (all age > groups): 1,500. > > Accidental deaths per gun owner: 0.0000188. > > > Statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times > more dangerous than > gun > owners. > > "FACT: Not everyone has a gun, but everyone has a > Doctor." > > Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. > We must ban doctors > before this gets out of hand. > > Remember: Guns don't kill people, doctors do. Either A)guns are illegal or B) Guns are legal. If A, then there is no stopping illegal guns (which are owned by drug dealers, gangs, and criminals) and no honest person can protect themselves. You save maybe 5 or 6 six kids a year from from accidentally blowing themselves away, but you kill at least 50,000 people who could have protected themselves (check out gunsandcrime.org , a non partisan scientific study on guns). If B, then no one knows who has guns and criminals won't break and enter or car jack (like they don't in states with lax gun laws). WIthout waiting periods, any battered woman can arm herself as quick as pie and have protection from an asshole husband, and people living in slums can save up and protect themselves agaisnt the gang and drug menace. THis is NOT THAT HARD to see. Anyone who is pro gun control is just a bleeding heart who had better realize that you SAVE MORE LIVES with legal guns. THat is the fact. If you are worried about saving kids , then teach them to use guns and to respect them. How many kids in the south or many years ago would hunt with dad to provide the meal? Any child can be taught. I know I'd be dead for sure. You all can go around in circles or whatever, but as for me...I appreciate doctors being around. It's really a hardass job and people are always on your case for not getting what they want. MOST of them (doctors) try their hardest and do what they can...if they fail, that's life (or death..whichever you prefer). Can you imagine having to deal with that? With having several peoples' lives in your hands and having to deal with the pressure of people expecting you to save them...and if you don't, you're entire family could be in danger of going bankrupt by some stupid lawsuit blaming you for the death when the person was already freakin' in danger of dying and the doctor did every goddamn thing they could do with the best of intentions? OF COURSE there are exceptions to this kind of a doctor...just like there are rockstars who don't give a shit about their fans...just like there are GUN OWNERS who are irresponsible. One more thing (or maybe a few,..lol.) I know I know...I'm rambling...but I just had to say one more thing...I was watchin' the news the other day, and this guy accidentally killed his two-year-old child because she ran behind his truck and he didn't see her. This guy has to LIVE with that the rest of his life. Was there something he could have done to prevent it? Maybe. Maybe he could've looked more carefully...HOWEVER, maybe he DID look carefully, but she was in a blind spot..or she ran UNDER the car. Can we BLAME him for the death? Maybe some people could, but I can't. It was an accident. It was a freak thing. It SUCKS to be him. That's what it is like for doctors that have had accidental deaths. Now, maybe the only reason I'm so passionate about this is because my mom is a doctor...but my mom has never actually been accused of killing a patient (accidental or purposely.) Most of her patients stay with her their entire lives and leave their children with her as well. Most of her patients recommend my mom to other people. Most of her patients give my mother random gifts because they love her, appreciate her, and trust her. My mom is a GOOD doctor. But that also doesn't mean that I don't think it's possible for my mom to make a mistake. I'm PERFECTLY aware of that fact. And everyone else should be, too. My mom could fuck up one day. But she's still a damn GOOD doctor; she's still a good person. If people aren't willing to accept the fact that mistakes in the medical industry happen, and can happen easily, then why should they be willing to accept ANY mistakes in ANY industry? Why don't we all bitch and fucking moan at EVERY mistake that EVERYONE makes? If you do, then congratulations...you're the only one that's not a hypocrite. ~Ani _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 23 Jun 2001 10:16:26 -0700 (PDT) From: Jen Ralston Subject: CONCERT-RELATED QUESTION someone else asked this question and i was really hoping to hear the answer myself so i'll repeat it again: for those of you who have already been to a poe/dm show--what kind of poe-related merchandise are they offering at the shows? just one shirt with a silk screen of the "haunted" cover on it? a logo option? different styles/colors of shirts? come on, you guys...i know someone knows. - -jen Get personalized email addresses from Yahoo! Sometimes there is confusion for these late late shows, because of the AM thing. When I say Wednesday you may be inclined set your VCRs on Wed. night and end up taping the wrong show. So please figure out your airtime now and have videotape ready! ::) I also suggest setting the VCR to run a little late, just to make sure she doesn't get cut off. Ahahaha. - -Hilory ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 23 Jun 2001 17:53:54 EDT From: AMCFLND1@aol.com Subject: Poe Shows Does anyone know if Poe is doing meet and greets at all? I just wanted to drop a line and introduce myself. My name is Scott and I have just recently joined the APs. I have been listening to Poe's music for a long time though. I live in Hawaii, so I don't know if there are any other APs out here, But if there are, drop me a line! Anyway, I am 25 and I like trance/techno and pretty much a bunch of different music. I hope Poe comes out to Hawaii some day, that would be sweet. I am also interested in getting some of her live and hard to find stuff. If anybody can help me out mail me! thanks. Anyway everybody have a great day and get your groove on! _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 23 Jun 2001 19:03:01 EDT From: VR5SBloom@aol.com Subject: Re: Poe Shows - ATTN MSG concert-goers In a message dated 6/23/01 2:53:54 PM Pacific Daylight Time, AMCFLND1 writes: > Does anyone know if Poe is doing meet and greets at all? If you guys don't get coordinated, poeple are gonna get left out because they won't know where to go and when. That will be a shame because Poe has said she is really looking forward to soundchecking MSG. So go for me dammit!!! I am way jealous that I'm stuck on the other side of the country and I think it's unfair to *me* that some of you are able to go and would miss it ;PPPPP Please check http://houseofleaves.4t.com/house2.html and contact the person who has offered to be the leader to find out what's up. If there's nothing, I suggest someone become a leader instead of just asking what's going on, and *make* something happen instead. If you want to figure out something for Conan on Tuesday, this weekend's basically your best shot because there's only a few days left. - --Michele Open for trades! http://trade.shelle.org/ Got promos, bootlegs, or MP3s of your favorite artist? We must maintain our ability to defend our selves against a tyrannical government while asserting the need for safety and peace in our streets. Every military member knows not to point your gun at something you don't intend to shoot. I agree with a earlier post, if you have a weapon in your house teach your kids about it, what it can do, and why it is dangerous. Keep it secured properly and safe. Accidents happen, it's a part of life. Police use their weapons every day to defend themselves, so do soldiers. The cops aren't always there with the rapist or murderer stopping them.
