The summer shows were SICK. Her latest band (which changed their name), Plastic Has Memory (they changed their name) had this tight triphoppy, Portishead-CocteauTwins-Holesque sound. Very dreamy but grungy and heavy yet soft and supple. They played a show as recently as December in LA. They were on that hollywood Sings album that just came out. It had Bijou on it also. But Plastic Has Memory released one official song on that album. I got everything she's done, all on CD. She played Atlanta alot. I saw her there 3 times. I guess I'm a big pay attention to detail person but she is having a really good hair day, her hair looks beautiful. Second, these are A+ quality pictures. I just have to say I'm so glad I came across this crowd. Poe is so lucky to have fans like us that go to all measure to show our appreciation for her. I think with our grace, we'll get her far. She's just too, too good to be ignored. And is it just me, or does Poe slightly resemble the girl that played Pacy's sister on Dawson's creek? I couldn't help but think of her and their resemblence as I went through these pictures. Good job psychos! Wish I had the $$$ to see her here in Denver. OK I'm sure we'll be seeing a whole lot of "if anyone recorded the show I went to, please e-mail me!" messages on here soon. Instead of that, why not make it "I taped the show!!" ? Buy a portable cassette recorder! A mono one is $22 or so at Circuit City. Don't get microcassette if possible, too much of a hassle to copy and sounds bad...if you want a little better sound, a stereo tape recorder is $50-$75, but you'll need an external mic. The Aiwa one comes with a mic. Also, if Poe does an interview at your local radio station that day, you can just record it even if you're on your way to the concert because of the built-in radio! Poe allows taping, but as you can tell on your tickets, Depeche Mode doesn't. You'll have to sneak your recorder in and then hide it while recording. On a related note, if you bring a camera, I suggest you use a disposable one. If you're caught, let them take your tape or film, but NEVER your equipment! Also, if you tape, be committed to avoid screaming or singing along. Sorry, but that'll ruin the recording. If you can't do that, find a psycho who can... OK, I'm feeling > mindless right now. > Nabokov leaves most people mindless. Personally I am going to be spending most of the next couple months reading a lot of the metaphysical poets. Donne, Milton, Southwell, Carew, Marvell. If anybody else is into this type of poetry I would love to have someone to discuss with. Just send me an e-mail offlist. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 2 Jun 2001 20:13:18 -0500 From: "Kelli" Subject: Re: NPR: movies i have a movie that is seriously fucked up and really hard to watch in a way: JFK ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 2 Jun 2001 22:14:57 EDT From: KrodKnid@aol.com Subject: Re: Need a little favor, KPR In a message dated 6/2/2001 7:06:22 PM Eastern Daylight Time, ThegirIy@aol.com writes: > aren't those the lyrics? spilled a diet coke on my mother..i said hi, what i > ment to say was.. why's your life a joke? > > ~Liss > >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> "Spilled a diet coke, called my mother..." ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 2 Jun 2001 22:26:57 EDT From: Fzanya@aol.com Subject: Re: Need a little favor, KPR In a message dated 6/2/01 7:06:22 PM Eastern Daylight Time, ThegirIy@aol.com writes: << aren't those the lyrics? spilled a diet coke on my mother..i said hi, what i ment to say was.. why's your life a joke? >> I thought that's what it was too, for a long time! Did you catch him in "Julien Donkey Boy"? That movie did not engage me as much as it could have. Felt the excessive style interfered with the excellent acting. stephen www.xiveren.com "It can only be attributable to human error" - -HAL ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 2 Jun 2001 19:46:00 -0700 (PDT) From: ndr Subject: RE: NPR: The Last Temptation of Christ Aguirre is out on DVD as is most of Herzogs work. Started coming out last november. The directors commentary for Fitzcarraldo is hilarious talking about everything that went wrong. If somebody wants to know someone who gave too much for his work meet Werner Herzog. I did see Julien Donkey Boy. Painful. IT was good if you like experimental filmmaking but overall it gave me a headache. The part that I found really weird was when they had Herzogs head over the 2 people walking with a commentary on Pizzarro (I believe it was Pizzarro). Strange indeed. Have you seen My Best Fiend? Herzogs documentary on Kinski. There are some great scenes of Kinski. They used to have events where he just ranted. Man was brilliant but crazy. A good combo I guess :) On Sat, 2 Jun 2001, Stephen van Vuuren wrote: > >Anybody happen to be a Herzog fan? Aguirre, Fitzcarraldo, Woyzeck. I just finished up, and boy, was I in for a shock. I rented this movie called, "In The Mouth Of Madness". It was a John Carpenters, so I figured it would be good. Sam Neill starred in this movie that is now the strangest movie I have ever viewed in MY LIFE!!!!! I was staring at the TV for the hour and a half, trying to get my bearings. This movie was so weird, I was nautious by the end. I wish someone else would see it to explain it to me, but, It was a horror, I could tell that much. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 2 Jun 2001 23:52:31 EDT From: JezebeIlnHeII@aol.com Subject: Re: Need a little favor, KPR In a message dated 6/2/01 2:45:44 PM Alaskan Daylight Time, red_halcyon@hotmail.com writes: > "That Day": "Woke up got out of bed spilled a diet coke on my mother..." > > Lee > Well... my response was gonna be.. so ? that IS what is says .. but i figured i better go listen to it again... so.. ummm... nevermind ~jez ------------------------------ End of angry-psychos-digest V6 #231 ***********************************
