POE finishes the interview & talks to a few fans infront of the interview "stage" and then goes to get ready for the show. OURS was the first band to play... at this time all of the angry psychos begin to meet up & meet each other... it was great to meet some new faces! and several of you i remembered from novemeber! we all discuss the afterparty & how to get there, etc. at this point, it is confirmed that POE would be attending our after party around 10:30pm, after the band had dinner & she did a coctail party with industry people. POE's set was amazing. she came on a bit early.. i believe it was around 7PM.... (pictures & the set list can be found on my site.. the direct link, as posted earlier this week is : http://www.geocities.com/rustyshelby22/POEonthebricks052501.html ) the show was a milestone... POE & the band only had a few rehersals for this gig.. and they pulled it off without a hitch... or so we all thought. the show opened and POE began with a bit of "wild"... but that went directly into "control" and the first thing she did was hit the crowd to surf... you could tell she had been waiting for years to do it again! she was so excited performing that at one point she fell & busted her but... she fell backwards into cody's DJ set up, and thankfully she was OK and thankfully she didn't knock it over! notice... no pictures of this were posted :) the whole crowd seemed to remember the words to "angry johnny"... and when she did "trigger happy..." i was really expecting to hear "why the FUCK not".. but oh well.. i think things may get more playful once the DM tour starts & everyone is comforable with their performance. random thought.. i hope her keyboardist, or cody can pull something off so we can hear "that day"... HOW will she do that song again without cameron? see next post.... - -rusty www.rustyisdabomb.com the web site | agentorange2@mindspring.com | rusty@poe.org ***************************************************************************** ********************************* Jennifer Nettles Band: www.jennifernettles.com | www.jennifernettlesband.com | ON TOUR ***************************************************************************** ********************************* POE: "Haunted" the album, featuring, "Hey Pretty" & "Wild" | www.p-o-e.com ON TOUR NOW with Depeche Mode | www.buffybb.net/poe | www.polishchick.com ***************************************************************************** ********************************* Amanda Ghost: "Ghost Stories" the album, featuring, "Idol" & "Silver Lining" www.wbr.com/amandaghost | www.amandaghost.net | www.amandaghost.cjb.net/ ***************************************************************************** ********************************* ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 1 Jun 2001 02:26:05 -0400 From: "Rusty Shelby" Subject: 05.25 | atlanta - thoughts, review, & more... PART 2 [05.25 | atlanta - thoughts, review, & more PART 2.. continued from the last post] after the show, POE was amazing (as usual)... she came to the side of the stage & signed autographs for each & every single person that wanted one. she stood there for 2 hours, while all the other bands played, talking over them to each fan. this is nothing new that we old psychos know, but A LOT of people were amazed by this. she missed the coctail party, but still needed to have dinner, so she didn't make it to the after party at fountainhead until after 1am. EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED THAT IS NOT PART OF THE STAGE PERFORMANCE WILL BE LEFT OUT. :) POE, mark, and sigve arrived at fountainhead a little after 1am... a few psychos will still lingering... most of us met up around 11pm.. and a few that were not 21 waited outside the bar that long. POE was telling EVERYONE at the show about the afterparty we were having at fountainhead, so a lot of under 21 fans she met at the hsow tried to come, as well as a lot of the band memebers from tantic, powderfinger, ours, and even butch walker from marvelous 3 (who was just hanging out at the show) all showed up at the after party. we were all there for about an hour (and POE did go out side the bar to sign autographs for the people under 21 who couldn't get in)... AGAIN.. we are SO sorry about this... kristen was running around downtown with NO car, so she had no way of knowing when she was actually go to make it to fountainhead to help those in need of help in getting in. after the after party, some of us decided to go dancing with POE, mark & sigve, but all of that failed at the entrance to the club when the 3 mentioned had forgotten their ID's at the hotel... and sigve had a passport, so we didn't know how all that was going to go over... so we decided to reshedule THAT outing until next time.. abd by this point it was after 3am and POE had a flight to catch at 10AM, so it was best that we didn't continue our evening from this point. and as some of you may have read on polishchick.com, mark stayed in atlanta and popped up at various barnes & noble book stores. POE NEWS: in trying to remember what she said to me that might be rellevant to everyone, i DO remember her talking about how her idea with releasing her album on vinyl maybe a ways off... her lable owns the rights to it, and doesn't seem to want to budge... however, she has the rights to ALL of the samples of her dad's tapes, etc.. so she wants to put those on the internet for anyone to use to make remixes, etc. she also mentioned wanting to release house remixes of "not a virgin" for gay clubs (hehe)... and that at one point DID YOU KNOW that atlantic records was actually calling stations telling them NOT to play her record, because they had OTHER artist that were more important to them that they wanted played on the radio!!!!!!!!!!!! so, psychos.. give yourselves a pat on the back.. it was US who made it happen... POE thanks each & everyone of us for our phone calls & emails to request the mix of "hey pretty". this goes to show you how FU*KED up the music industry is and why i left it a year ago! so.. that is the recap... and YES, i have been contacted about doing the SEAP party in atlanta for july 9. and the answer is YES, we will be having one, and YES it will be open to ALL AGES, and most likely, the party will be BEFORE the show sometime in the afternoon.. so keep you monday afternoon schedules open for july 9. more info to come... That's a hard ass book to read, and unless your a druggie your probably not gonna get it. The movie is like a G-Rated movie compared to the book. Also, be aware that the movie is not exactly a sequel, but it's like the book introduces you to the cast of characters and gives you background info then the movie takes the characters and puts them into action. There are hordes of symbols and plenty of heroin-induced ramblings. IMHO the book is a spectacular masterpiece and the movie is cool as hell. They are films by: David Lynch David Cronenburg Andre Tarkovsky Stanley Kubrick Akira Kurosawa Fritz Lang Roberto Rossellini Ingmar Bergman Jean Renoir David Cronenburg directed Naked Lunch already discussed - but IMHO, Crash, (the directors NC17 cut) is far more intense, disturbing and also his best film yet. If you into movies, I would strongly suggest at least seeing one of the above directors' movies. Use www.imdb.com to find films, availability etc. I would also add these directors (easier stuff to watch, more still living etc.): Krzysztof Kieslowski Wim Wenders Michelangelo Antonioni Federico Fellini Jean-Luc Godard Luis Bunuel Robert Altman Phillip Kaufman Peter Weir Jean Cocteau Woody Allen (70's -early 90s) David Mamet Francois Traffaut Mike Figgis Mike Nichols David Fincher PT Anderson Tom Tykwer Darren Aronofsky John Waters Milos Forman Alfred Hitchcock Blake Edwards Kenneth Branagh (while he was with Emma Thompson) Baz Luhrman Frank Capra Spike Lee Luc Besson Orsen Welles Frank Oz and these films by more well-know Directors: The Last Temptation of Christ (Scorcese) - I had to walk through a police line to see this movie - only two people in the theater. Apocolypse Now (the new version coming out this year, not the one orginally released) Aliens (James Cameron - his best movie IMHO) Unforgiven & White Hunter, Black Heart (Clint Eastwood) Robocop, Starship Troopers (Paul Verhoven) - don't laugh, they have somewhat hidden anti-fascist, anti-American messages brilliantly woven throughout the lightweight stories I'll stop for now - this is actually a short list for me. A lot of these directors have stuff out on DVD. The huge shame is the complete lack of women (very few women have been able to break into directors with final cut and have the extended careers to build up a reputation. But some new ones are coming along that should change the next 100 years of cinema. stephen www.xiveren.com "It can only be attributable to human error" - -HAL ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 1 Jun 2001 11:02:48 -0400 From: "David Vickers" Subject: intro Hello there AP's. Hey, Alright, let's stop waiting for someone to pick up on organizing a there's been alot of people asking about a Philly party for the APs, and I do believe no one has picked up on organizing something yet, so let's get something officicially started. I think if we could all organize something together, it'd work. I'd really love to have a party right before or after the Philly concert. :) But let's all figure out SOMETHING now. Let's start out with... I dunno... who's all going to the concert (since apparently there's more than listed on the Poe concert site). That way, we can start e-mailing each other rather than disturb the rest of ML. Okay? I'd be happy to head the Philly AP e-mails. :D My e-mail is TerraTrepe@aol.com. Remember when tickets were 22.50$. Remember when ticket master didn't have a monopoly over the sale of tickets to EVERY event. Or when the service charge was like 2 bucks. I bought tickets to DM/POE in ohio, 63 bucks for the ticket and 7 for the dicks at ticket master. That's more than Tom Petty (58 TM service charge included) and just about the same price for Ozzfest which has like 20 bands. And we pay it. There isn't any real point to this little rant of mine, I'm just blowing of steam. Maybe some day, some way we can all get together figure out how to stop gettin F@#ked up the a## by ticket master. So yeah, I've been on this list for months now and I have posted a few times and lurked most of the other times but now's a good a time as any to formally introduce myself. (1) Who you are?... Siren/dissolved girl/Jenn/and a whole lot of other things that I'll leave out of mentioning. (2) Where you're from?... born and bred in Los Angeles currently attend college in New Haven, CT (3) How old you are?... 20 at the moment but of legal drinking age in December (not that would change my life much as it is now) (4) Where you first heard Poe?... Quite a few years back when Angry Johnny was played on the radio I promptly went out to buy Hello and I've been a loyal Poe fan ever since. (5) What other musicians do you listen to?... Mostly trip hop but I change it up for some spice of life variety sometimes - some absolute favs include (but are not limited to) Hooverphonic, Massive Attack, Morcheeba, Garbage, Air, Solar Twins, Esthero, Ednaswap, Moloko, Olive, Lamb, Airlock, Tori Amos, Depeche Mode, etc. etc. etc. (6) Any other interesting information you wish to share... There's plenty of interesting information - I don't know if it's proper to share though. Oh yeah! I have a pretty good Hooverphonic fan site if you wish to check it out www.inhaler.nu and my personal site is located at www.inhaler.nu/siren/ - I'm kind of a webdesigner person but I'm not as good as I want to be, but enough about me... - - siren "Fade, made to fade, passion's overrated anyway..." - Dissolved Girl ------------------------------ End of angry-psychos-digest V6 #229 ***********************************
