I further suggest that Leno has some creative influence on who plays his show. Of COURSE his people talk to her people, that is business. Still, a CHOICE was made and guests that generate POSITIVE response are invited back. Guests that make the star look bad or that generate a negative public response ( i.e. O'conner on SNL) find themselves UNINVITED ---anywhere! So, some kids will just have to > actually > go to a doctor to get the truth, instead of stupid myths that are just to > Actually that's not entirely true anymore. The catholic church has been buying up and running hospitals lately. One big area for this is california (I was born at northridge hospital, now northridge catholic hospital) and they let the hospital run as it usually would, except that when it comes to reproductive choices, the doctor is limited to recommending what the church approves of. Abortions are not forbidden at the hospitals. There is usually one disused room where they can be carried out, and they're only done when the baby is dead and an immediate threat to the mother. I know of one case where all the amniotic fluid drained out, the fetus was no longer viable and the doctor said that within 24 hours infection would set in and threaten the mothers life. The abortion was stopped though, because they wanted to wait out the 24 hours and do the operation when the baby became an actual threat. Also I know that at Georgetown University Hospital, doctors can be kicked out from the hospital and med students can be expelled for even mentioning an abortion to a pregnant woman. The ones who wish to recommend it will often chase the woman down as she's walking out of the hospital and give her a card with a phone number on it when she's off the property. - -Mike ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 May 2001 12:40:37 EDT From: Dan98908@aol.com Subject: Re: Leno sucks! Stage fright is a more serious version of the butterflies all performers get before the first song (if they have any juice in their veins at all that is...some performers are professional automatons). Subject: Poe, Leno, and Affleck I'm glad to hear that so many people thought Poe's performance on Leno was great. But I gotta agree with those who felt it was a little off. Mainly I felt badly for her, because she seemed so nervous. I mean it was a great opportunity and all, but it may not have been the best exposure. I told a bunch of people who don't know Poe that they HAD to watch, but since it wasn't Poe at her best, I just hope they understand the whole thing about bands sounding worse on talk shows. Plus, so many people on this list have mentioned how much better Poe is live than recorded - and I loved the Borders show - I guess I was surprised by the Leno performance. Anyone know if Poe and band have a choreographer? I seriously think it would help - she's got the moves, but the whole thing could've been so much smoother and sexier - and it helps a person relax on stage. Anyway - I think she loved/appreciated the APs' shouts. >Umm does anyone else think that Ben Affleck was >on crack or drunk or something. Absolutely! Or he had to pee or had something enormous up his ass - that boy could not sit down! He was entertaining (which is more than I can say for Leno), but clearly in an altered state anyway, back to lurking.... The fact of the matter is, I know that songs sound different live and I expect that. I am 32 years old and used to work for TicketMaster, so I have seen my fair share of concerts. Again, I only caught the first couple of minutes and I understand that she opened up a little towards the end. But the fact of the matter is, her voice did not seem to have nearly the same power and control as it did on the album. She seemed nervous, which is understandable because I don't believe that she has performed in front of an audience for quite a while. Which brings me to my next topic that you will want to flame me on. I absolutely love "Haunted". It's up there with "Abbey Road" and "The Wall" as my favorite album of all time. Having said that, I think that "Hey Pretty" (either version) may be the weakest song on the album. I would much rather hear "Haunted", "Control", "Walk The Walk", "I'm Not A Virgin", "Wild", or "Could've Gone Mad" on the radio than "Hey Pretty". And, it's not that I am burned out on "Hey Pretty". I only heard it on the radio once before buying the CD. What do you guys think?
