Or NOT!!! It's ALL good! You know, I tried to encourage Leno, Letterman, Rosie, SNL and MadTV to invite Poe as musical guest. I know I am only one voice and others worked on it too, but Leno put her on! During the Hello CD tours and pushes, to my knowledge, she did not get national TV exposure. Sure, she has been on Oxygen, Connan, and Politically Incorrect, but those five at the top book the performers that have MADE it! I would have LOVED to have seen an hour long Poe special, or to see her as the featured guest complete with interview and all, but rather then ragging on Leno for not doing ENOUGH, (and I can assure you someone from Leno will read or hear about these posts), perhaps we should be thanking him for having her on? Perhaps we should be telling him how much we LOVED seeing her on his show and suggesting that he should bring her back again! I don't know if any of you watch Leno regularly, but the musical guest is on last ALWAYS, even the BIGGEST of the groups. That is just "the way it is done." Leno usually does not interview them and talk to them. Letterman does ( but you usually WISH that he hadn't if you like the performer.) Even SNL usually does the same thing, but they get to do two songs. She got about 5 minutes of national TV last night on a highly rated show. She is only going to get 30 minutes, at first when she opens for the Depeche Mode on tour!! This is BIG stuff guys!!! Big and ALL good! How many of you , if you had your way would NOT want her to go back on next week because "Leno sucks"? I know that we like to talk "stuff" in here and it just wouldn't be the Angry Psychos if we were not attacking SOMEBODY for SOMETHING, but I would really like to see Poe invited back on Leno and to appear on other shows that people WATCH!!! And a LOT of people saw Poe last night that have NEVER even HEARD of her!!!! And THAT was thanks to Leno. I'm not a Leno fan, I have watched him maybe 8 times in the last year, BUT he did Poe a WONDERFUL turn by inviting her on his show. There are a few THOUSAND bands that would KILL for that opportunity. I would have produced it differently, sure ---but can't we for JUST this once send a couple of props to Leno for having her on? I have been in love with the power of Poe's vocals for the past five years and last night let me down. She seemed flat throughout the whole performance to me. It was like she was speaking the words, not infusing them with her vocal stylings that I love so much. I, as well, have been to my share of concerts and know that live sounds different, however, this just wasn't as good as I'd expected. It reminded me of a Toad the Wet Sprocket concert. I love that band and was overjoyed to see them live, when I finally did I vowed never to see them live again and stick to the stereo recordings. They are just dull live, that's the way it is with them, nothing personal, they didn't excite me live. What I want to know is whether this was a typical Poe performance or is she usually more animated and lyrical? Jay P.S. Does anyone know of a site with lyrics for "Haunted"? I'm pretty good with most of the lyrics for most of the songs, however, there are always a few I just can't quite get. I also love him since he's in a few Kevin Smith movies. Or NOT!!! It's ALL good! Well, I don't post much, usually a lurker, but I figured since everyone else I putting in their two cents, I would too. I saw Poe on Leno last night and I also thought she seemed very nervous in the beginning but she did settle into it by the second verse. Personally I think it's just beginning of tour jitters. I saw her in Atlanta about 5or 6 years ago when she was on the Hello tour. It was a small venue...I think it was the Star Bar but I could be wrong on that one. Anyway, she is just as sexy now as she was then. She had a stronger stage presence then but, like I said, I think she just needs to get back into it. Anyway, I think she was great last night though I wish we could have seen more of her. Maybe next time. I have to agree with Dan here. Leno deserves props if only for being able recognize talent in a musician. He gave her a great forum to perform for a nationwide audience and I thank him for that. I am sure that after the band gets a chance to gel and finish rehearsals, they are gonna blow Mode off the stage. I can't wait for July 21'st in Denver, Colorado! As for Haunted lyrics, http://www.polishchick.com is always ready to fulfill your POE needs! Or NOT!!! It's ALL good! Do you actually think that Leno wakes up in the morning and says "Let's have Poe on the show? She is very talented and I wanna give her some national airtime?". Please! Her A&R representative at Atlantic Records calls the Tonight Show's booking agent and a date is worked out. I doubt Leno had any idea who Poe was. Please! A monologue consisting entirely of jokes about Robert Blake's dead wife? 2 full segments with the ever insightful (tongue firmly in cheek) Ben Affleck and one with Dame Edna? Jesus, I'd rather have my teeth pulled! Yes I'm glad she was on TV. Yes I know that's how the Leno show works.
