OK U PsYcHoS, check back a year or more, I predicted this stuFF was coming... LOL!!! China Blames U. S. for Yet Another Mid-Air Collision BEIJING (Reuters) - Chinese officials have stated that they are holding the United States, "fully responsible" for today's mid-air collision, involving several Chinese aircraft and one American craft. This comes just weeks after a similar incident involving a U. S. spy plane. Officials have stated that at approximately 8:25 a. m., GMT, a squadron of Chinese F-8 fighters collided with an American Goodyear Blimp. The crash left over a dozen Chinese planes downed and the blimp's electronic billboard damaged. Sources say the billboard's scrolling marquee had been advertising the soft drink 7-UP, but after the collision, only the words "Up yours" could be seen. A Chinese pilot who witnessed the collision between his squadron, nicknamed, "Panda Rash" told China's Xinhua news agency that he saw the American blimp dive out of the clouds and crash into wingman Sum Yung Gui's F-8 jet. "I told Yung Gui his tail was all broken. 'Keep it straight. Keep it straight'", said the pilot. "He just couldn't shake the American foreign-devil!" The blimp then reportedly veered hard left and then right, taking out the rest of the squadron. Pilot Chawp Suey told Xinhua the American blimp is "fully responsible for the incident", repeating the language Beijing has used in the earlier incident. China blames this new accident on the Goodyear blimp, saying it rammed the supersonic fighters, and has demanded an apology. Officials from the Goodyear Company have said it is unlikely that the slow propeller-driven blimp could turn inside and ram a dozen nimble fighters, unless the Chinese were testing chimp pilots. "The direct cause of the collision was that the American blimp made a sudden big move toward the Chinese planes, making it impossible for the Chinese planes to get out of the way", Suey was quoted as saying. "The savage act of American blimps colliding with Chinese planes while conducting spying activities at sporting events makes us indignant", he was quoted as saying. sp00k etc ... - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- U CAN Talk 2 A PsYcHo http://Poe.Org A Poe FAN Page http://PolishChick.Com 3 INDIE Rock Grrlz http://EmberSwift.Com Hear What I hEAR ? http://wber.monroe.edu/live.ram 80K Feed ? http://wber.monroe.edu/live2.ram ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 10 May 2001 09:40:17 -0400 From: Robby Black Subject: PR: Pollstar.com It's time to hit up pollstar. Didn't someone ask about this a while ago? I didn't have time to reply at the time, but I do now... I will talk specifically about "Haunted" (the album) because it means a little more to me lately that "Hello". Last Fall, I was having trouble in my marriage and my grandmother had recently been diagnosed with cancer, so I took ten weeks and lived in California where I'd grown up. I thought it was just a "break" from the troubles in my marriage, though it turned out to be a seperation that lead to divorce... Anyway, things were really difficult for me during this time; I didn't know where I stood with my husband and I was worrying about/taking care of my grandma on a daily basis. In early November, I bought "Haunted" (the day after I learned that it had been released, as a matter of fact). I bought a portable CD player on the same day, one that had a car-adapter. I began listening to my new CD a lot... I was doing a lot of driving at this time (it was about twenty minutes from the house where I was staying at the time to my grandma's house, and I was often going to see friends who lived about twenty minutes the opposite direction) so I listened to "Haunted" all the time when I drove. At first, I listened to the first several songs over and over and never really got past "Wild". I really really related to "Control" and "Terrible Thought" - the anger and power resulting from the use of anger funneling into empowering control that Poe sings about in "Control" made me feel fantastic. I took my confusion and anger and frustration that I felt about the situation with my marriage and turned the CD player way up and screamed along with the lyrics... and at the time, it was a "terrible thought" to me that my husband at the time was cheating on me, and that we might get a divorce... I really resonated with the feelings expressed in "Terrible Thought" as well... Then there was "Wild" - "I go wild cause you break me open/Wild cause you left me here/I go wild/Wild because the chips are down/Wild because there isn't anybody else around/Wild when the waves start to break/And God knows they're breaking in me now/Wild 'cause it doesn't make sense/For me to cry out in my own defense/Wild 'cause I would do anything/To tear you off your precious fence/So this is what it's like living in limbo/First I'm high then I'm solo/I go wild/'Cause you break me open/Wild/'Cause you left me here/I go wild/'Cause your promises are broken/Wild/When I know you're near/I go wild/I go wild" - this totally felt like this man who I trusted enough to marry was making me feel - and I was GOING WILD with the pain... and let's not forget how empowering it can feel when I'm in a better mood to "Walk the Walk" - to walk to the beat of my own drum instead of measuring out my life to the tick of a clock.... =) and then I listened to the rest of the album... "5&1/2 Minute Hallway" was so fantastic, I wished I'd listened to it sooner. =) And there was "Spanish Doll", "Amazed," "If You Were Here"... all of these songs were *so good* that I just loved listening to them... it made me so happy... So in summary, Poe's album helped to channel some nasty and some nice energy and to *feel* some things that were difficult to even talk about! - --emilie ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 10 May 2001 09:48:50 -0700 From: "Crazy Little" Subject: Re: talked to a DJ about POE Nope. That's exactly how it works. In exchange for playing only what the record labels want you to play, the records labels give the radio stations free license or extremely low priced licenses to use the record label's material. If a station plays something that wasn't specifically licensed to them yet (basically all the other songs on the CD) then the record labels yank the licenses and jack the prices so high that nobody can pay for them. Hence that's why you hear artists complaining about how the labels hold an iron fist on their music.
