Argh, ok... IMHO I would think that Agnostics don't really have a definition in respect to WHAT they believe because of just that. Believe me, 12 years in Catholic School will make you at LEAST wonder if the Church really DOES care about Jesus. Some of the clergy members encouraging slavery. There were bishops and priests out there who OWNED slaves. I think that explains why a lot of people DO believe in God, just not the way the Church teaches it, because the Church is fallible, the Bible IS fallible, and the Pope sure AS HELL is fallible. And being told that you will go to hell for purposely missing one Sunday of Mass at the age of 8 sure as hell would make you wonder. Oh yeah, and you know how Catholics believe that the bread and wine transubstantiates into the blood and body? Well... the Bishop in my school's church is removing the tabernacle which supposedly "holds" Jesus and is replacing it, into a chapel, and putting his CHAIR in the place where Jesus is supposed to be. First of all, Josie had a MASSIVE cheese factor as a cartoon that naturally would be brought about in considerable amount. Think about the music of the cartoon series -- poppy, girly, bouncy teenybopper rock. Frankly, the music from the soundtrack (that I have heard thus far) is actually several steps forward. And didn't you ever see the performance segments on the cartoon? It was a miracle if Josie strummed the guitar more than two times in a second. And the bass-playing? I can't even remember if the bass LOOKED like a bass. So frankly, I didn't expect jack shit from the movie in this respect. I have not seen the film, but frankly, the trailers proved to be much better in these respects than I had expected. And seeing as the girls received their crash-course training at the music camp of Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds, (one of my lifetime musical idols,) I doubt he would let such basics as how to hold a guitar and so forth slip by. Nor would the technical advisors on the film. (These people bust their asses to insure that actors and writers do not come off as bafoons. They follow the Vidal Sassoon creed: "If you don't look good, we don't look good." : ) Of course, "Josie" is no "ER" or "Silence of the Lambs", but it sure as hell wasn't intended to be. It's entended to be a FUN movie. If you're going to see technical musical proficiency and/or mastery, check out "Sweet Dreams", "Coal Miner's Daughter" "The Buddy Hollie Story" or "La Bamba". If these films are too "outdated" for you, wait for the Jeff Buckley film. Maybe due to your age you don't really remember the series very well. (Hell, I'm 28 and I am a good bit fuzzy on it.) But frankly, if they had tried to take the topic any more seriously, THAT would have offended me much more. I mean, sheez... it's based on a freakin' cartoon! True Gnostics believe that matter itself is evil, and that the "God" who is generally accepted as God in the Judeo/Christian world is actually a flawed being who doesn't know He is not the ultimate supreme being...and that the reason earthly life is so f**ked up is because this God created our plane of existence as an extension of his flawed nature. Stephen Apsley" Subject: tours and such Well, this fantasy music festival thing is a fun idea. Let's see....i gotta get creative. I'll try to go in chronological order and try to hit most cool genres. Start out with The Kinks. They're a band that most people think copied the Beatles, but they were better, and i think they were out first. Whichever came first, i don't care, The Kinks are better. Then we'll move onto Kraftwerk. They're quite possibly the coolest techno group. They are ze robots. Then we'll throw in some Steppenwolf, simply because Magic Carpet Ride is one of the best songs ever. Of course Depeche mode will be there. They are the best ever. Moving right along, we'll then put Underworld on the stage. After them, Radiohead...one of the best bands to ever come along (what is it with those Brits?). Then, Beck will put on his groove, like he always does, then flex his mad skills. I don't know if any of you have ever seen him perform, but he's pretty dang cool. Then, we'll throw some french into the equation and have Daft Punk on. I'm not a "One More Time" fan, but i love almost all of their other stuff. And, for good measure, why not put Poe on. Her magic will leave us all feeling a bit more complete. So here's the itinerary: The Kinks Kraftwerk Steppenwolf Depeche Mode Underworld Radiohead Beck Daft Punk Poe Think it'll happen in real life? It won't. But, in my mind, on my cd player, and on my computer, it happens all the time. - -Andrew _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Apr 2001 23:59:22 EDT From: StarGazerLily429@aol.com Subject: Re: KPR: tours and such In a message dated 4/23/01 11:24:02 PM Eastern Daylight Time, KoriG@aol.com writes: << Damn, this is tough.
