<<"What does Poe do to your inner workings?"
In other words, "How does her music make you feel?">>
Poe's music makes me feel happy, and these are the reasons why:
It entertains me. Between "Hello" and "Haunted", I have been been immersed
in so many musical genres and feelings and beats that listening has been
nothing less than an adventure. An really FUN adventure. Poe's music, with
it's combination of pyrotechnics and moments of simple, pristine, soaring
beauty, satisfies almost every emotion and need for musical expression I
could have.
It exposes me to true talent and artistry, which is cathartic in itself. Let
me explain. I am one of those people that has a hard time suspending
disbelief. In other words, when I am listening to Poe's music, sometimes I
have a hard time just sitting back and enjoying. Rather, my mind is going
a-mile-a-minute thinking, "How could someone write like this?", and "How
could someone be so creative and yet so natural?" This is cathartic because
it makes me happy that people are so smart, and gives me hope for my own
potential.
It makes the world a better place, for you and for me. For me, Poe's music
is a refreshing antidote to all the mindlessly violent pop out there, because
her music is mindful and deliberate. Violent, yes, sometimes, but mindfully,
consciously so. This makes me happy that her talent and the beauty of her
music exist in the world. Her lyrics are clever, meaningful, and clearly
sung, not to mention deceptively simple. Because her words are so spare, yet
so loaded with meaning, they are both clear in their message and widely
interpretable at the same time, and therefore widely relevant. So Poe's
music makes me happy not just because of it's entertainment value, but also,
and moreso, because of it's value to the world. You know how every recording
artist will at some point say something like, "My career will have been worth
is if I just reached one person". I even heard Sisqo say this. And as much
as "The Thong Song" has enriched my life, Poe is one of the few artists I can
name who could actually say that their work improves and changes lives, and
be telling the truth. I think that Poe will change the world with her music.
I know she's changed MY world with it. Her music's overall attitude (which
I think is truth-telling and self-expression) makes me feel stronger in my
opinions and ideals, my sense of SELF, and truly, without a doubt, makes my
life better. In conclusion, Poe's music improves my heart and my mind, and
satisfies my human need for art.

Who all is going? I'm looking at prices, and I'm a little discouraged.. :P
$81 for two lawn tickets?!? I hate large concerts, and I hate paying an arm
and a leg for them too. Unless we get any word that we'd have some sort of
meet and greet or AP gathering, I think I'm going to pass on the whole tour
and wait for something a little smaller. Lemme know OAPs. :) >>
I'm in if anyone else is in - but I agree, those are a bit pricey... it'll
have been 8 months since Poe's been to Cleveland come the tour date - so
who's to say when she'll be back again. She's neglecting us OAPs =(
*smooches!*

Sitting in my boyfriends car... the stereo pumping with his little base box
in the trunk... the windows down... listening to it for the first time...(
my copy already has a cracked case cause I bit it in my excitment)...
driving through crappy ohio..(sorry I didn't like living there)and she set
me free. I listen to her and I rock out... and I get my little groove thing
on and she sets me free. I waited so long for this album... got screwed out
of tickets to the show... but still she sets me free. And gives me this
strange sense of hope. (plus you cant go wrong with some one named after
edgar allen!!! how cool is he. hell I bought her cd on that basis with no
other knowledge of her!)

and yes I did say poetry. :) It is a very basic page...I did it on purpose
so I don't have to do much when I update it.
Enjoy...

If you don't want to hear something maybe a little depressing stop here. Just
to give you a little background, I haven't seen or heard from my father in
years. He is an alcoholic/womanizer. It is an altogether bad situation. I
disowned him long ago. I also abandoned all feeling in my heart about him.
Well now to the point. Last night I was making my bed, at home alone
listening to the haunted cd. When haunted came on, I was really into it and I
all of the sudden had this ache in my heart of hearts, thinking of my father.
This is so strange because this has not surfaced in so long. I am not sure
how to react. I have had thoughts of trying to find him. I know this would
open a whole new can of worms for me. I'm scared and curious all at the same
time. I just wondered if anyone had any advice for me. Should I forget about
it, or should I face my fears and squash them, even if it means facing some
painful memories of my childhood.
If you read this far, thank you. If you
want to reply, thank you even more.
Open to suggestion, Monica

hey...
One band I have never heard mentioned is Dollshead . They are probably most
famous for " Its Over Its Under " which can be found on The Jackal sountrack.
To the best of my knowledge they only have one cd " Frozen Charlotte " . Next
to my Poe.. I listen to this cd more than any other. I can't find anything on
the internet.. or anyone else who even listens to em. Anyone know who they
are ? Or anything else about em ???

Just thought I would introduce myself since I am
new...
Now that you are an Angry Psycho, we would love to
know:
(1) Who you are?, Carrie
(2) Where you're from?, Florida
(3) How old you are?, 19
(4) Where you first heard Poe?, while listening to
the radio, I think it was in 95 or 96 (don't hold me
to it) and "Hello" came on, needless to say, I was
hooked!
(5) What other musicians do you listen to? I listen
to all types of music really, there is a ban from
Wales, England I like called Catatonia, Sex Pistols,
Sublime, Ella Fitzgerald...all over the spectrum
really.
(6) Any other interesting information you wish to
share. I fear there is very few interesting things
about me...:)
Cheers!
Carrie
