Think about all the reality we could avert... Oh great. A futile battle over a subjective judgment that cannot even be judged upon fairly by any estimation. (Tallest rock star? Sure, we can make fair shots at that. Smartest? Can't even be universally measured, except perhaps with the use of IQs and SAT scores, and then we would be unfairly guestimating.) Then we have the "that I have met" stipulation. Who here has met or knows EXACTLY the same list of musicians as anyone else here? Didn't think so. Though frankly, I have the same point of view about Kid Rock, (sorry, but he just seems like the last possible male I'd describe as a witty gentleman,) I have not met him personally, and cannot fairly judge. I have friends that many people regard in the same way, but I would argue to the ends of the earth that they indeed are not as such, at least not with everyone. At the risk of sounding REALLY cheesy and making even myself gag, I still feel compeled to say: "Rock stars are people too." Personal attacks can hurt them just as much as they do you or me. Oh, so you say, "They should get used to it. They asked for the fame and attention and are getting paid WELL for it." So when they DO suck it up and just tell themselves, "Oh, this person doesn't even know me. Who are they to judge. I'm crying all the way to the bank," then they are judged to have a big head. Damned if do, damned if don't. Frankly, I think that it should be completely up to the service people what is fitting to play or not play at a ceremony such as that. They and their late fellows have given their lives to this country. Even those that survive all tense moments in the military, even if they never get as little as a bruise much less die, have turned their lives over to defend not just our country, but millions everywhere. At the very LEAST I think they deserve to pick the music that inspires them. And though frankly I don't see Kid Rock or his work going down in musical history, only time will tell what impact or meaning something will hold historically in the future. Hey, the Beatles and the Stones were considered possibly evil noise at one point. Now look at the various labels given to them, from "old people music" to "legends" and so forth. When someone chooses to convey themselves as some character, then who else's personality would one expect of others to form of them? Kid Rock does seem to campaign for the title of "Bastard Trailer-Trash" any moment he has the slightest opportunity to do so. Hell, even Mr. Edward "I refuse to confirm!" Vedder knew that when the Grammys or RNR Hall of Fame induction ceremony came around, it was probably time to put aside the flannel and cut-off shorts and put on a suit and tie. Kid Rock's uniform for every damn event? A wifebeater. Let me introduce myself My name is Joseph Gorordo and I am a high school student from Laredo, TX. I am just 16 but hopefully that won't affect how I am viewed by everyone here. I first heard poe back when angry johnny was making its splash on radio. I bought the cd and was blown away by how every track was different and spoke to me in such a personal way. Poe was the first artist I truly appreciated not only for catchiness but for sheer musicianship and emotion. I first heard of the angry psychos abought 2 years ago but didn't join until I got myself a steady internet connection (a week ago). other than poe I love punk music. tool. everclear. fiona apple. the raincoats. NIN. misfits. jeff beck. and Human Waste Project. (they are sorta my pet band that no one else really knows about, but as a sign of good faith I am offering it to all of you who have been making posts about a heavy band with female vocals. they are a great band that contained future members of snot and powerman 5000. they are heavy rock but not metal. I think you all will enjoy them). I myself am not too interesting. I play guitar and bass fluidly and I sorta play drums and keyboard. I also love anything computer related. I have way too much free time so if anyone of you ever needs a favor do not hesitate to ask. well thanks for paying attention and I look forward to becoming a tru angry-psycho Joseph Gorordo "If you can't dance to it, it's not my kind of revolution" -- Emma Goldman ________________________________________________________________ Get Free Anime Email, News, Links, Forums and Shopping at http://www.AnimeNation.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 3 Apr 2001 00:26:01 -0400 From: "RICHARD I MIDGETTE" Subject: IT'S BACK Just for s's and giggles I decided to try www.polishchick.com again. = It's up and running.
