Or is this an exclusive thing? Just curious) anyhow, I'd sure like to know more. Thanks *zoe* ===== If you knew now what you'll know in 20 years, then there's no point to life. It's CRAP! Society is crap, violence is crap, and parents need to start doing their jobs and teaching their kids responsibility, respect and consequences instead of leaving it to the schools! Most of all, these kids need to learn that they aren't invincible and that they will die if they get hit in the right spot by a bullet. They will kill someone if they point a gun at them and pull the trigger (whether they think it's loaded or not...) They will get hurt playing with dangerous weapons. More than anything these kids should be further educated about dangerous weapons such as guns (what they do, how they work, how to operate them) and then taught the consequnces of what will happen if they take advantage of this knowledge and use it the wrong way. I was taught at a young age all about guns and then told that my little fingers would be broken if I ever touched one. That was enough for me (so, my dad's an intimidating guy... or at least he was when I was knee high to a grasshopper) Too many parents are leaving their kids too many opportunities to get into trouble or to harm themselves without knowing the consequnces. I don't think it's because these kids (or people in general) are sick, and I don't think the media's to blame either... I think it's the fact that these kids honestly don't know any better, because to know better, you have to know the consequences and these kids have proved that they don't know the consequences or they wouldn't have done it in the first place, or they at least would've done a better job at covering their asses. And yes, I'd say that a lot of it may have something to do with the fact that these kids want attention, but there again, they haven't been taught by a PARENT to redirect their need for attention to something positive, and they haven't been taught the consequences. The simple fact of it all is that kids are more afraid of being punished by their parents than they are of the law. Yes, I think the law should have a little to do with their punishment, but the parents should at least get to smack the kid upside the head and ask "What the HELL were you thinking?" before the kid gets hauled off to jail. And parents also need to start making their kids more important than their job, especially if their job takes the parents away from the children on a regular basis and keeps that parent away for as long as they want for the benefit to the company that parent works for... if the job is important for you to have to keep things going smoothly for your family, fine, but if that job becomes so demanding that you don't have a waking moment to spend with your kids and when you do all you can think about or talk about is work, then it's time to find a new job that allows you more family down time, because parents need to be there for their kids and a stupid job shouldn't keep those parents away from the MOST important things in their lives. Not to mention that kids need their parents more than anyone else. But, I believe that my point is made and I thank everyone who reads and listens. *zoe* ===== If you knew now what you'll know in 20 years, then there's no point to life. Anyone so impressionable that he can be 'driven' to kill someone IS sick. I also think that kids that will shoot others and then themselves aren't very worried about consequences anyway. My brother was seeing a psychologist for a while because he was really anti-social. After talking to him for a few weeks, he worked his analysis magic and concluded just what kind of family my brother was a part of. He reasoned that he had a really tough home life. Well, he doesn't. We're a pretty typical family that really hasn't had to suffer through anything very big. I don't have bad parents, but an 'expert' has assumed otherwise... So the parenting aspect isn't black and white. - - --Kim ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 24 Mar 2001 09:08:10 -0500 From: "sp00k@poe.org" Subject: Free Money requests@kroq.com Request "Hey Pretty" Remix 1-800-520-1067 Or Call Click this KROQ LINK and vote please http://www.kroq.com/yahoo/yahoo.html 91306-Canoga Park Simi Valley-93063 91335-Reseda Simi Valley-93065 90036-L.A. Probably more so than we do the names of all of their victims.... Another real problem is the lack of respect among kids...parents who think their kids engage in "harmless teasing" are terribly mistaken.....hate breeds hate, and with so many adults using religion, money, and race as an excuse to hate it's not surprising that such views are passed on to children.....I wholeheartedly believe that it is the absense of tolerance that is isolating the killers.....however, it is also important to note that all of the young murderers have been males....perhaps as a result of society's need to force boys to make their emotions.... Yes.. KROQ lately is horribly male-centric (and boobie-centric) as of late. At the moment, it's exactly the type of station that I (don't know about anyone else..) wouldn't want Poe to be played on. It's a rare thing to come across a female voice on the station, unless you count the female traffic reporter on the Kevin and Bean morning show (the one that was talking about vibrators when AT was listening) or Tami Heide, a much beloved DJ. This definitely needs to change. Though they have switched formats from "alternative" radio (which sadly, rarely exists anywhere these days) to "new rock", this shouldn't mean that women should be silenced to let the jock thumpers and white-jeaned groupies of days past to take over. WE should take over, us of intelligent music taste (and an insane love of Poe ;p). That being rambled.. EVERYONE needs to hit up KROQ with requests. I suggest that everyone send in one email daily for each email address they have (but PLEASE.. for the effort, change the name aliases on your account information so they think different people are requesting) and vote at least once for the Furious 5 at 9. Here's where the zipcodes come in.. KROQ broadcasts to many parts of LA/Orange and Riverside counties. While I am too lazy to look up a list, I can suggest a few that I can remember off the top of my head. 91720 - Corona 91719 - Corona 92507 - Riverside 92346 - Highland If anyone else wants to look up more zipcodes for these cities and the counties I mentioned.. go for it and share with the rest of the class. ^^ - -miharu _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ End of angry-psychos-digest V6 #106 ***********************************
