Those are two of my favorites too. I've listened to "Wild" about 800 times,
and each time I want to email the lyrics to my ex-boyfriend. We're friends
now, kind of, and he doesn't really know how much he hurt me. But almost
every line of Wild describes it. He broke open my mind, my defenses, took a
good look, and left. He left me in the apartment we'd shared to move back
onto campus, leaving me in a town where I knew no one and had no job
anymore. And on and on. Every single line fits. I DID feel like I was in
limbo, and he DID have a lot of nerve to come back whenever the hell he felt
like it for something he wanted or needed that was still in the apt -- he
even snuck in a few times while I was asleep to get them.

The other song that describes my life is "Walk the Walk." I've been told a
number of times that I don't just walk to the beat of my own drum, I have my
own percussion section.

Know what I really really like about her lyrics? They're not all love-this,
love-that, love-lost, love-found. Granted, thats a large part of it, because
love is a large part of our lives. But she touches on things few other
artists do -- the need to be yourself, the feeling of power over a
situation, the anger. Few singers can truly express anger in their voices
unless they're shouting. It's all mournful or chipper.

Walk The Walk makes me happy.   When I hear it i just have to get up and dance to it.  It's a great song.

"Wild" Is also a great song, and definetly helped me through some hard times.
Another song that I relate to is "Spanish Doll", because a good friend of mine died only a month or two before I went off to college, so whenever I go back home I think of how odd it feels to be there when she's not...

to get him to fix the security, but he wasn't able to fix it! Consequently, 
*everyone* lost file access, and only nearly a year later we've gotten them

well, i am off to l.a. in the coming week to attend an
award ceremony.  like most of the people in the world,
i never win anything--but dammit, i really want to
this time!  crouching tiger was nominated for three
golden reel awards--best dialog/adr edit, best music
edit, and best sound effects/foley edit (that last one
is me).

the golden reel is the sound editor's honorary society
awards--voted on by their membership only and thus
less of a popularity contest than the oscar for sound
editing--which all members of that academy get to vote
on regardless of how much they know about sound.

i don't want to enter into that damned religion debate
again, but i'll say that i don't believe in the power
of prayer as much as i believe in the power of
collective will.  and psychos are stubborn, therefore
willful...so tune your brains into this frequency for
me on march 24th:  GIVE JEN A TROPHY.  thank you.

And the simple response to all this?  NY radio flat out sucks!  Im sorry but 
for anybody who truly believes in the whole "trendy" aspect of radio, or the 
whole concept of "hip today, gone tommorow", New York radio truly is at the 
heart of this.  For the most part these stations are all pathetic, Z100 of 
course being the cream of the crop serving out mass quantities of bullshit on 
a daily basis, KROK is the only real alt/modern rock source in the area and 
they're pathetic, making you hear 3 Doors Down and Crazy Town 10 times within 
a 15 minute period.  Other than 102.7 simply for the fact that Opie and 
Anthony and the Radio Chick are brodcasting, in my book this market stinks, 
hence why I wont be working in it when I get into the radio industry.

If anyone in NY radio had half a brain they'd be playing Poe, too many tracks 
on Haunted have such great potential to be hits but its all going to be 
wasted sadly.

stations are categorized. Oldies, Alternative, Top 40, Hip-Hop, Easy
Listening. Poe doesn't fit any of those categories. Also, there is no steady
beat. Around here, you seem to need something to dance to, be it a waltz, a
slow dance, or grinding out on the floor. Poe's beats change during her
songs. Personally, I find that incredibly interesteing. It keeps me on my
toes (figuratively.)

When will people stop just listening for a beat and start listening to
lyrics, and how well the music fits them? Am I the only enlightend person on
Long Island?

That's my rant. Hope it wasn't insulting or anything :)
