Speaking of truly bad movies...does anyone remember Swamp Thing? I think the woman in it was Heather Locklear...when she was really young...or maybe it was Lisa Hartman-Black (before she was a Black). I don't remember..I get those two confused. Anyway, talk about horrible effects and absolutely NO PLOT! It's hilarious to watch it now. I also have to agree with whoever picked NeverEnding Story as a fave. I think this group goes beyond just Poe, and is a social group, >and >as such we interact... LOL Later my fellow >psychos!! Marshall Yeah, I know it gets annoying, but sometimes I think we need to make an effort to keep activity going on this list even when we don't have much Poe-related material to discuss at a given time. The funny thing right now is, there is MASS of stuff going on with Poe right now, within the changing tide of her album and its singles and radio airplay, etc. The woman herself has had two seconds to breathe in weeks. But we are on the brink of some MAJOR events and announcements, I assure you all. I say this in no way as a tease, but just to assure you all that things are FAR from dead and inactive. Just hold in there. (I know that's like the 3000th time you've heard that, but truly... It's going to be worth it.) I have another "promotional" project I hope to get off the ground if anyone else is interested. It's hardly revolutionary, but I don't know if anyone has been getting into it by themselves or not. Seeing as our radio request floods worked like freakin' MAGIC, I was thinking a push for press could be just as effective. I have been writing various mags and newspapers urging them to do some sort, ANY sort of coverage of Poe. And don't think I've just stuck with music and entertainment mags. I'm bothering women's mags big time, (of course my biggest target has been JANE, my personal bible,) and writing everyone else from USA Today to "Maxim" and "Stuff". (I'd write "Playboy", but I have yet to have time to go over to my brother's place and get their "Letters To The Editor" info.) I mean, whatever the mag, I've been trying to find ANY way Poe would pertain to what they tend to cover, (or not cover, but should.) I've sent both snail mail and e-mail, (JANE just luvs getting US mail with over-decorated envelopes and artwork inside. Works well with teen mags as well, of course.) ANYTHING to make an impression. I have been giving them a little current bio on Poe and "Haunted" and, of course, the APs, but encourage them to check our websites for more info. Once again, virtually anything goes. Use your imaginations. Dean will be providing me some space on his site to post "Letters to the Editor" addresses for some crucial mags that we should focus on, along with whom would be the best person(s) to send mail to the attention of, if any. ANY suggestions are not just appreciated, they are BEGGED for. (I mean, I can buy a copy of "Seventeen" and flip to their "Letters" section to get an address, but a regular and/or devoted reader of the mag would have a much better idea if there is a certain person to direct a letter to, instead of "To Whom It May Concern".) So, as usual, any ideas, suggestions, comments, complaints, etc. are welcome, public or private. Equinox Frankenstein Conquers the World I went into some long descriptions... read if you want... even if you don't read it, please please please watch at least one, I promise they'll make you laugh. OK first up is "Equinox." This movie is simply hilarious, from drooling horse riding cops, who turn people evil by drooling in their mouths, but only when he wears a certain ring, to a girl who can't remember what wig she wore the day before, cuz her hair likes to go short then long in various shots of the movie, to a creepy old man who lives in a cave and does nothing but laugh, to the final horrible bad acting. Second, "Frankenstien Conquers the World." Let's just say Oscar winner. Ok so its all about this japanese boy who's been around lots of radiation, so now he has a radio active brain (wait it gets better). So because of this brain, he grows to enormous heights, and leaves Tokyo, but on his way out of town there's a thrilling police chase with wind up cars... you can even hear the little sound of the key winding down... so then the radioactive boy goes into the country and accidentally knocks over this stable, but before he gets there a plastic horse is rearing up and down (yes the string is visible) and then where the stables gets knocked over, the horse just falls. And then all of a sudden there's this mole looking cat dragon thing... personally i thought it looked like a cat with a party hat on its head that could breathe fire... but i guess that's just me... anyway to definitely awesome movies... hard to think that they're classified as "horror." So because of this brain, he grows to enormous heights, and leaves Tokyo, but on his way out of town there's a thrilling police chase with wind up cars... you can even hear the little sound of the key winding down... so then the radioactive boy goes into the country and accidentally knocks over this stable, but before he gets there a plastic horse is rearing up and down (yes the string is visible) and then where the stables gets knocked over, the horse just falls. And then all of a sudden there's this mole looking cat dragon thing... personally i thought it looked like a cat with a party hat on its head that could breathe fire... but i guess that's just me... anyway to definitely awesome movies... hard to think that they're classified as "horror." > > Tessa ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 01 Mar 2001 20:29:39 -0600 From: Katie Subject: NPR: Question for French music fans So I don't know how many people here are francophone, but I was wondering if quelqu'un knows any general music sites that are in French that carry info on different musicians. Sort of like, peut-etre, a Sonic-net or Rollingstone.com type of site. Thanks for any help Katie =^..^= ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 2 Mar 2001 04:37:23 -0600 From: "spidee" Subject: NPR: Imogen Heap/CTHD whoa...didn't check my email for three days and find this mass of emails, many of which include IMOGEN HEAP...I'm so glad that I asked if anyone liked her, other than here NOBODY has even heard of her. She's even performing with Jeff Beck and they're like "heap what? heap of crap?" blah! imogen heap is great. her lyrics are meaningful, as well. as for crouching tiger, hidden dragon...two things. one, i read that tiger and dragon are the symbols for the names of Lo and Jen somewhere on a CTHD website. It's supposed to be short for "(The World Is Full of) Crouching Tigers and HIdden Dragons" or something like that. Allegedly. THe movie made so much sense to me. I think it's quite possibly one of the ten best movies I've ever seen. But then again, I have different tastes. I have yet to see the virgin suicides; i started on the book before the movie came out, but I never got a chance to see it where I am. And Phil Keaggy (while I'm not christian) is simply an AMAZING GUITARIST. I strongly suggest everyone download Phil Keaggy's acoustic work. If you're not up for Christian Rock (and I soooooo am not...), you'll still be in awe of his acoustic playing. I guarantee it. Really. _______________________________________________________ Get an Anonymous, Free Email at http://www.sub-mail.com Visit http://www.sub-net.com for the worlds best pages! ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 1 Mar 2001 22:53:13 EST From: KrodKnid@aol.com Subject: Re: NPR: Imogen Heap/CTHD In a message dated 3/1/2001 10:43:34 PM Eastern Standard Time, mybrainhurts@sub-mail.com writes: > And Phil Keaggy (while I'm not christian) is simply an AMAZING GUITARIST. I have seen him live a couple of times and he does everything from jazzy chromatic riffs, to finger tapping (I saw him do this before I ever heard of Eddie Van Halen doing it), to distorted fusion stuff. He was one of Jimi Hendrix faves too I am told...though he must have been pretty young when Hendrix was still around, so that could be bunk. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 1 Mar 2001 22:54:13 -0500 From: "Stephen van Vuuren" Subject: RE: The most horrible movies in the world Two words: Space Ninjas or two more words: Prison Planet In Space Ninjas, a very low budget dubbed Japanese sci-fi martial arts (that's right, when they fight the drop their laser cannons and attack each other - it's not a comedy) complete with a Chewbacca that looks like a overweight, drunken gerbil. Special effects of Planet 9 quality. Rent it while you can. Prison Planet (I was at the world premiere) could not afford spaceship sets. So they shot it all spaceship interiors in just black empty space and talked about how "Big" the ships were. Of course, the planet was terrorized by giant snakes (paper mached garden hose dragged on the ground with a very visible string). Bad camera angles and editing often made it seem like the fleeing prisoner and the giant snakes were running towards each other... stephen www.xiveren.com "It's only after you've lost everything that you're free to do anything." ~Tyler~ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 1 Mar 2001 22:57:05 EST From: Trueluhv2000@aol.com Subject: hi will someone please give me the passcode and stuff to get into the ward, ive lost it and i havent been there yet:) much luhv and stuff carri ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 01 Mar 2001 21:55:10 -0600 From: Brett Klooster Subject: The VICTORY!
