Poe Interview Hi all, I just produced an interview of Poe on video. It was shot at a house that's been severed in two. It looks like a monster came and took a bite out of it. It reminds me very much of what that little old 'house of leaves' feels like. The video is being presented in Real version 8 format. So to see it you must have the Real player installed (I have links on the page). http://www.polishchick.com/house/house.shtml The video was shot without a tripod I just followed Poe around and we talked. She talks about: ** Finding her dad's tapes ** Her and Dad ** Mark, Hey Pretty and Radio Play ** Writing songs (creative process, ProTools, and more) ** The Angry Psychos ** ... and more (like Dean sinking in a mud pit) I have a modem ready 56k low resolution version of the FULL interview, and both low and high res (cable/DSL) versions of Poe's Angry Psycho message (and an outtake) Dean Morrison www.polishchick.com A Poe Fan Site http://www.polishchick.com/house/house.shtml p.s. I personally think the film was excellent for two reasons. Number one, the kept the beleivability and honor of the two warriors by not having them jump in the sack (like any American movie would have). The conflict of love and wanted to honor their dead friend was a very human tounch. Number two, the young girl schooled in Wudan causes so much pain, and instead of a traditional hollywood ending, she is allowed to live with her shame, a fate that is worse than death in some asain cultures. Anyway, just wanted to give some input. I can understand some Chinese, but I saw it with my dad, who is fluent, afterwards told me something to the effect of: "it was a difficult movie with a ton of abstract concepts for which you need to understand Chinese to completely grasp." Something like that. There were a few times when I heard something that I could only think of in Chinese, not in English - I'm sure this is the case with all languages; but it is easy to miss the nuances without being able to actually understand it. I'll admit I missed many, but that's because I don't speak fluent Chinese. As for the acting, I really thought the two female leads, Michelle Yeoh (wow!) and Zhang Ziyi (sp?) did a great job. While I think that Chow Yun Fat did a commendable job, especially with the graceful, quiet power that just EMANATES from him; I wonder how Jet Li would have done, considering that Li speaks Mandarin much better. Hmmm... On another note, regarding Seven Samurai, whenever I watch it, I get completely drawn into it. To me, it is a wonderful film, and in 2001 has not lost any of its appeal IMO. Just a matter of taste, I guess. Curious: what do you think of The Magnificent Seven? waiting for Crouching Tiger on DVD!!!
