One of my very favorite all time movies by Wim Wenders, "Wings of Desire". IMHO one the most influential films on the 1980's frequently copied in style and tone. Mix of black & white and color, lyrical camera movement and spoken narration. Mixture of reality (Peter Falk plays himself in a supernatural story) and fantasy, mixture of haunting classical music and the wonderful Nick Cave... Did I mention I like this movie... PS. It was obscenely remade as "City of Angels" curiously staring Nick Cage. It was like the TV movie version of "Wings of Desire" or dare I say it, the Muzak version of Poe... stephen www.xiveren.com "It's only after you've lost everything that you're free to do anything." ~Tyler~ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 26 Feb 2001 00:17:47 EST From: Dracovixen@aol.com Subject: Re: NPR Marilyn Manson If I remember correctly, someone (perhaps it was you), said something about MM representing this generation or whatever. Kim, I believe, said she would't want MM as a representative. She never stated why, true, but then your reply to her was totally presumptuous. "so you wouldn't want such an intelligent...etc". Whatever. She never said that. You acted like that's what she meant. Just because he's open-minded and intelligent doesn't mean people have to like him, or have to want him to represent anything. There are other intelligent and open-minded people in this time. She simply stated her opinion, and said nothing to offend MM's person. You (very subtlely, I might add) practically attacked her for it. Then she tried to clarify herself, and you still continue to persecute her for her opinion. You say there isn't one hint of open-mindedness in her psyche, maybe you should check your own. So you may embrace MM, yet when it comes to other people's opinions? You're lacking there. Instead of assuming what she's all about, you could have simple asked her "Why?" As in why would she think that? Instead, you appear as the agressor, and clutter people's mailboxes. So really. You like MM, and think he'd make a good representative. Ok, fine by me. She doesn't. Also fine by me. She never said MM wasn't an open-minded and intelligent person. She simply does not think he would be a good represenative for the population as a whole. Ok, no big deal. So, can we stop this thread now? Black Dove PS- For the record, I agree with you in that he is an intelligent and open-minded person. I think he could definitely make it as a representative, but not for everyone.
