So naturally, I assumed that she was in town (why else would Marconi be drooling over our Mistress)... so I called an NRK DJ that I've worked with and asked for some 'insider info'. I was informed that she only did a phone-in interview around 4:00. Must have been quite an interview for the hormones to be still on the rise some 3 hours later. There were no inclinations that your opinion had to do with his image, that was a statement regarding my personal opinion of Marilyn Manson. And, since it has nothing to do with his image, I simply stated in the first place that I wasn't quite clear why you wouldn't want to be represented by an intelligent and open minded individual. I didn't mention anything of music or image in my initial post. And, well, if you aren't intelligent (which I have my doubts of) and open minded (which I also have doubts of, since none of your posts have even hinted at one ounce of open-mindedness being present in your psyche), then maybe you should work on being a little more open minded. And what does Rose McGowan have to do with anything? Okay, she's his fiancee/wife/whatever, but she has nothing to do with the current topic at hand. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 23 Feb 2001 21:04:22 EST From: GloryBox84@aol.com Subject: Re: NPR: Willy Wonka In a message dated 2/23/2001 7:48:59 PM Central Standard Time, meghan@sugar-star.net writes: > Well, why don't you just say what you mean, then? I said what I meant. And you misinterpreted it. You seem to think I've misinterpreted you. I don't think that makes me unintelligent and I don't think that calls for any rude or sarcastic e-mails. So please clarify what distinct comment of mine proves that I am narrow-minded. For God's sake, I only meant that I couldn't be anti-MM and a Rose McGowan fan. Don't challenge my general intelligence by judging my opinion of MM. I don't really have the interest to debate this anymore so I'll just say this: I don't particularly like MM. I wish everyone luck in dealing with that. I don't agree with everyone on this list about everything, but I don't dwell on some of their opinions I may find stupid, wrong, uninformed, etc. This whole thing is pretty simple- I don't like this guy's music. If you think I'm so unintelligent, consider that maybe be if I thought that my every word would be picked apart and that I would be scrutinized for it, I would have touched up my posts a bit. I think it takes a really pugnacious person to drag this out for so long. - - --Kim ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 23 Feb 2001 18:08:36 -0800 (PST) From: phidias Subject: Re: NPR: Willy Wonka Meow!!! Down girl. Don't want somebody to be the first person to have their eyes scratched out on a mailing list. One thing we must all remember about Marilyn Manson is that he is a salesman for the record company. He sells a product and an image to a highly sought after teen market and is very successful at it. He is the KISS of today and when he is 50, balding (well, relatively speaking), and overweight he will be doing reunion tours at the local VFWs and there will be a new "mothers worst nightmare" raking in the dough. He is an icon, nothing more nothing less, supported by the record companies to make money. Same thing has been going on since Buddy Holly if not earlier. All these icons are used for is to spread propaghandic catch phrases to sell more stuff you don't need. "Fuck The System -- as soon as I buy all his CDs, t-shirts, pins, posters, hats, coffee mugs, industrial lubricant, fedora, wax replica, action figure with kung-fu grip, videos, books, etc., etc., etc." Nothing wrong with saying "Fuck The System" and going against the grain, but you must also know the system and why it needs fucked. If any system in place needs a good fuck over, its the recording industry. Just remember next time you pick up any album who you are supporting. Not only the artist, but also the system that wants to control everything you hear, how you hear it, when you hear it, where you hear it. I am not saying don't buy an album to support a great artist (i.e. Poe) but be very aware of what you are doing and what you believe in and how strongly. This is not meant to be an attack on anyone, just a badly thought out observation of musical icons. I hate to insult those who made the mentions, and I mean nothing against you personally, but to include such ...well...shitty "comedies" as Encino Man and Bio-Dome with such greats as "Dr. Strangelove" is an enormous insult. And, I just gotta say that the only worthwhile thing about "The Doom Generation" was seeing Rose McGowan naked...the movie itself was just... painful. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 23 Feb 2001 18:42:42 -0800 From: "the lemon queen" Subject: Re: NPR: Empire Records & Movies heather matarazzo is a goddess. and the nowhere soundtrack is wicked as pie. off like old socks~ gyda gwen - ----- Original Message ----- From: To: ; Sent: Friday, February 23, 2001 9:58 AM Subject: Re: NPR: Empire Records & Movies > > welcome to the dollhouse was an awesome movie...but has anyone seen > nowhere???... ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 23 Feb 2001 21:51:31 EST From: GloryBox84@aol.com Subject: new PJ Harvey single This is from the official list: A quick reminder that the new PJ Harvey single, A Place Called Home, will be released on Monday next, February 26th. Just a suggestion, but maybe if you're gonna talk, or snap at a certain person you should just email them and not the entire list. It's kind of irritating to get a bunch of email and most of it I have to meticulously delete because it's just bulk mail. This way, if two people are having a little debate someone doesn't unknowingly jump into the mess AND others don't get a lot of unnecessary posts. kapeeshie? ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 24 Feb 2001 00:42:10 EST From: GloryBox84@aol.com Subject: Re: Minor Request I'm just as bored with it as anyone else. - - --Kim ~*You gotta have fear in your heart*~ -Liz Phair ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 24 Feb 2001 00:47:03 EST From: KrodKnid@aol.com Subject: Re: Minor Request In a message dated 2/24/2001 12:39:50 AM Eastern Standard Time, blackat@ukans.edu writes: > So everyone has a different opinion on their own tastes, I think everyone > would agree with that BUT it's a little annoying to get post after post of > people snapping back at eachother.
