A good way to cut those parts out if you really wanted to is a program called MP3Trim, if you search for it online you should be able to find it. (For more information on the Apocalypse remix of Control, which not only is featured in the video game but also as a hard to find acetate single, check out the Poe discography at http://members.aol.com/VR5SBloom/poediscography.html *) As far as the Drive By Mix of Hey Pretty, it's good, but it seems so different than the "original" mix that appears on the Promo CDs for House of Leaves (Exploration #4 and Don't Be Scared)... I like the original much more... but I'm glad the radio world has embraced it. Just think MZD doing vocals on a Poe single that's incredibly hot... makes you wonder if Poe really DID write the book and MZD had sung the whole album, what would have happened? (For more information about the original hey pretty mix, as well as stuff that may have boggled your mind from House of Leaves, check out http://houseofleaves.4t.com and click on Idiot's Guide to House of Leaves *) * - If you ever wondered who maintains the Poe Discography or houseofleaves.4t and care to explore their talents further, check out http://www.shelle.org e- ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 Feb 2001 07:31:50 -0500 From: Jennifer Ralston Subject: npr: new guy josh where in central pa are you? i'm from bloomsburg, but i live in nj now. - -jen ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 Feb 2001 10:28:53 -0600 From: "Mike Auer" Subject: Re: Drive By Mix? Now that you are an Angry Psycho, we would love to know: (1) Who you are?, (2) Where you're from?, (3) How old you are?, (4) Where you first heard Poe?, (5) What other musicians do you listen to? and (6) Any other interesting information you wish to share. Here I am, answering your questions that you ALL desire to know...that's a laugh. (1)I am Marianne...The "LadyMsThang" is an inside joke so don't take it as I'm all bitchy or whatever, like some do. I dunno *shrugs*. (2)Where I am from? Hmm, now that's a question. From my mommy? Seriously though, I was born and raised in Sayreville New Jersey (no I don't live by Bon Jovi, he doesn't live there anymore)but now live in South Amboy, a whole hop skip and a jump away from BonJoviville. But I am also in and out of New York City, since I work here. I'm always staying at friends and whatever, not quite making it home. (3)I am now at the tender age of 20, though I feel older. I won't be 21 till August 25th, but that does NOT stop me from enjoying myself with a little alcoholic beverage... (4)When I first heard of dear Poe, God i remember it like it was yesterday. I was 15, just home from the hospital becuase of an accident that left me with a broken left leg, I basically laid in bed staring at the ceiling all day. I had only my radio with me and a pack of Marlboro Lights, home alone (after loooong begging to the mother to leave me alone and let her go back to work)never watched TV, only listened to the local radio station FM 106.3 (Eatontown, Ocean Twnp.). All the sudden "Trigger Happy Jack" was on and i literally jumped up out of my bed, hobbling on the right leg. Found out who it was, had my mom buy her cd for me and never stopped listening to it. As i tried to sleep at night, I would have my CD player next to me with "Hello" in it, on repeat. It basically saved me from going too insane, that and Dave Navarro. (5)As I just mentioned, I LOVE Dave Navarro. I LOVE Jane's Addiction. And as I also mentioned in #4 I sat home with a radio, cds, music mags, and nothing else. In that year I digested anything and everything about music and the people involved in it. I used to love the Chili Peppers, even saw them in Feb crutches and all for a get well present from my now ex-best friend..HA. Garbage was another one that came out around that time and has become among my favorites, to the point where I could quite possibly become Shirley Manson's love slave (and I'm not even gay...). I'm a worshiper of great Classic Rock, Jimi Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane, Rolling Stones, The Who and the list goes on. Grace Slick became my hero for a little bit there as did Stevie Ray Vauhn (damn did i spell that right?). Anyhoo, I love great techno, house, trance music. PJ Harvey's a wonderful woman as well, i have all her cds and let me tell you, nothing beats "Is This Desire" but they all do come close.! VAST is another one, Air (the Virgin Suicides soundtrack is phenom). Then i can go over to stuff like Disco (yes I know, how...)Barry White, Marvin Gaye, all that fun stuff. And then, one that I'm not ashamed to admit, I just don't want people to judge me (crosses finger)I listen to Nsync. I swear they are the only "pop group" I like. Ok Im not even going to go any further with that. So basically I like anything, excpet country. Phew...that was long...sorry. (6)I'm a Virgo/Leo. Yes I was born on the cusp. And it's scary because from what ever I have heard, the two are the worst signs there is. And I have characteristics of both, yeah it's pretty scary. Leo's are controlling, demanding, perfectionist. Virgos are neat (in their own way), sarcastic, and moody. Yep I'm a little of both. But I'm really a nice chica, I promise you that. Don't be afraid of me now, please, I need all the love I can get. I am no longer in college, ok ok ok I'm a drop out. I quit after my 3 semister in my second year. I just got tired of it and the school I was at didn't have what I wanted. I orginally wanted to be a film maker, still do in fact. But again with the music, I got so into it that I wanted to be apart of that. Not necessarily the talent, but work with them. I always wanted to be a tour manager, so here I am, at work actually being the Assisstant to the tour manager at BIG Management. It's pretty damn cool, 20 and working in this ! business it's wierd. They also have me going out to the clubs to talk to people, b/c we mostly handle DJs and producers, and getting our stuff out there. It's real cool, I get perks, so far for the past 7 months I have not payed to get into a NY club or a show. So that's nice. Ok I'm done...that's all there is to say to me. If anyone has questions, feel free to IM me or email me, i'll respond, I'm not a bitch! =0) Marianne ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 Feb 2001 11:59:47 -0500 (EST) From: Jason M Crawford Subject: the carpet's color, the sofa's color, (fwd) Someone had asked about what was said in A Rose Is A Rose. He creates this appealing factory and gives people free will to fall for the ploys of the factory or to listen to his warnings. THen at the end he treats CHarlie like Job to test his faith. He takes everything away from him and only rewards Charlie on his undying faith. I always thought it was a satire/renouncment of christianity and the idea that God would allow for stan if he really loved all his children. This virus was discovered yesterday afternoon by McAfee and no vaccine has yet been developed. This virus simply destroys Sector Zero from the hard disk, where vital information for its functioning are stored. This virus acts in the following manner: It sends itself automatically to all contacts on your list with the title "A Virtual Card for You". As soon as the supposed virtual card is opened, the computer freezes so that the user has to reboot. When the ctrl+alt+del keys or the reset button are pressed, the virus destroys Sector Zero, thus permanently destroying the hard disk. Yesterday in just a few hours this virus caused panic in NewYork, according to news broadcast by CNN. This alert was received by an employee of Microsoft itself. So don't open any mails with subject "A Virtual Card for You". As soon as you get the mail, delete it. Please pass on this mail to all your friends. Forward this to everyone in your address book. I would rather receive this 25 times than not at all. Also: Intel announced that a new and very destructive virus was discovered recently. If you receive an email called "An Internet Flower For You", do not open it. Delete it right away! This virus removes all dynamic link libraries(.dll files) from your computer. Your computer will not be able to boot up.! ! ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 Feb 2001 23:03:13 -0500 From: "ABIGAIL DRAKE" Subject: Re: Drive By Mix?
