I live in central PA and am 19 years of age. I work at a music store, and it was my manager who first introduced me to Poe. After hearing "Haunted" I immediately bought both albums. He had also spoke to me about a book about a house of leaves. So, I set out to buy a copy of and read House of Leaves. I haven't been the same since. At work, my manager and I are referred to as the "Poe-boys" because we have a tendancy to put a Poe album into the store's stereo system and "accidentally" hit the auto-repeat button. We fear, hate, loathe, and despise normalcy. Interestingly enough, we find that normal people return the favor. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 Feb 2001 14:11:52 EST From: StarGirl3663@aol.com Subject: (no subject) i forgot. i love mazzy star too. and janis joplin and nina gordon. Leisure was another good album...I DID like song 2, but I hated how everyone heard it on the radio and immediately assumed that all of their music was "Song 2-ish" and that's it. So then they'd go and buy parklife and be immensely disappointed...Duncan Sheik is awesome. I can't wait to get his new album...except I'm afraid it's going to be like The Menace and have to grow on me before I accept it. So far it's been instant classics with me, so we'll see. Duncan Sheik says he was heavily influenced by Jeff Buckley, who I also like (but they do have similar sounds, which is why I usually categorize them themselves). Aimee Mann; I've been told to go out and listen to her stuff (same with Ani DiFranco) but sadly, I've not ! yet had the chance to do so. Any suggestions as to what I should listen to to get introduced? Finally, Imogen Heap. I strongly suggest you try her stuff. She's UK, and her label went out of business, but she's good (try Angry Angel, Come Here Boy, or oh me, oh my for starters napster fans). Enough with music. Roald Dahl is a genius...I remember reading his Henry Sugar book and trying to do the see through cards trick on my own as a six or seven year old LOL. I didn't see Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory until I was 12 (I read the book when I was younger) and I remember feeling sick after watching it...to this day chocolate is not on my top ten list for candies. But great story. Veruca Salt was my favorite character. Good band, as well. Finally, the Virus. I don't know how much it costs, but I can go and find out on Thurs. (next day I work). It was directed by Henry Selick who also did Nightmare Before Christmas and James and The Giant Peach. I have seen this movie and it is unbelievably horrible. Visually it is nice but overall it was massacred by the studios. I hope there will be a directors cut down the road that may bring life to it. The Hollywood bureaucracy took a brilliantly written script, great feats in animation, and added too many fart jokes and Brendan Fraser. I like the guy, but he just didn't work for me here. As for WW, nothing will ever beat Gene Wilder for me. He played the part perfectly. Subtleties in his portrayal showed the dual side. But I should be getting my pictures back shortly, although I'm pretty sure that I looked awesome, because, well I did. Drew, the guy who was gonna go with the girl that I hate, ended up spending all his time with her (even though she went with someone else), I have really good best friends... (drips with sarcasm) and he came up to me at the last dance (it was a slow one) it was Last Kiss by, oh crap, they redid the old version, but right now I can't remember their name. Well, I really didn't want to dance with him but I did, and when the part came that says "I held her close and kissed her our last kiss" I kissed him on the cheek and walked away. How harsh was that? Everyone told me that he looked so hurt, but he ended up giving me a ride home, so we worked everything out. I basically told him that I don't care who he wants to go out with, but y! ou don't just ditch your friends He said that he understands that, and that he'll never do it again (yeah right the same thing happened at the last dance... I give it 2 months tops), but for some reason I still want to hang around him. And the bastard is my inspiration for a lot of my poetry, and I hate accreditting him, but I can't lie to him either... the bastard. Yeah I know, you guys are thinking "you are so in love with him, why aren't you dating, blah blah blah." Drew is seriously like my brother, I don't want him to get hurt by some stupid girl, and it hurts when he ditches me for her, cuz personally I think I'm more fun than she is =o}. Tessa ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 Feb 2001 22:34:00 EST From: Iamtheher4u@aol.com Subject: NPR: Virus warning "hey you" There is a virus going around infecting AOL members computer's and in the subject line is "hey you." DON'T OPEN IT!!! It's a Trojan virus that will infect your AOL and send it to everyone on your buddy list. If you got this from me and accidently downloaded it get rid of it as quickly as possible, don't download it, just delete it. Send this to everyone you know that has AOL. I know that "hey you" is popular subject line but better safe than sorry. This virus mainly infects Windows 98 users but has gotten into some Window 95 systems. The message in the email reads something like "here's 5 or 6 pics that I scanned" don't download even if it is from someone you know, the virus feeds off buddylists and mails everyone who has an AOL email address. Thought if I sent it to the list the word would get out pretty fast. Unfortunately my sister didn't know not to download it, so we are infected and I've been trying for 2 days to rid us of it and I'm still at it, with very little progress. Hope you guys don't get it, it really sucks A LOT.
