Why? because if you want to listen to some music, you want to > be able to hear it on your stereo, in your car, on your walkman, etc. Well, now there are portable MP3 players that you can load using the USB or Firewire port on a computer and carry around like a Walkman...also ones that plug into your stereo setup like a cd player. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Feb 2001 23:14:52 EST From: GabriKn@aol.com Subject: Napster-my 2 cents Allrite folks im gonna try my best to keep this short and sweet Here's why Im all for Napster staying up: For one who in there right mind actually has the time or wants to download an entire album of music? I know im putting this in the perspective of being a 56k user not on cable or T1/T3, but still I dont think someone would actually make an effort to get an entire album when they havent heard it. Secondly Napster is probably the best source for local and unsinged bands to put out their music as we all know. Whenever im on and people are downloading my music it tends to be from bands outside of the mainstream. And third as noted its the best source for artists to put out singles before their albums come out. I think that about sums up my stance as quickly as possible, now id just like this crap to end ASAP with Napster still alive in kicking. On a final note, UP YOURS LARS YOU JACKASS! I just joined Angry Psychos. So here is my obligatory introduction. My name is Joel Schwartz, aka Joellercoaster as one member of this list has dubbed me. I am currently a psychology student at UCLA, 19 years old. I'm a native of Southern California. I first heard Poe a few years ago on KROQ (a south CA alternative station) back when Hello first came out. My best friend bought the album and we listened to it constantly. Fast forward a few years when I met Kyle, a good friend who is an AP. He got me back into Poe and kindly took me to her concert for the opening of Blair Witch 2. We snuck backstage and briefly chatted with her and the band as well as got autographs and pictures. I bought Hanuted as soon as it came out, and a month later Hello. I also bought House of Leaves, but have only read the introduction. As for musical tastes, I am eclectic. I'll always be a fan of classic rock and a good deal of heavy metal. Current favorite artists are: Poe, Portishead, Danzig's 3 bands, Boston, Doors, Gone Jackals, and pre-Jason Newstead Metallica. I also enjoy jazz, rat-pack singers (Frank Sinatra and the lot), swing, a little country, classical music, and blues. Other info about me: I love dark and strange movies (current fave is Lost Highway) and surrealist art. Politically I am a libertarian, meaning that I believe the government should have little to no say in our daily lives, promoting personal responsibilty for actions and an increase in free trade and standards. I look forward to future communications with all of you. Goodbye.....goodbye...I'm back...am I gonna sued for saying that? Later all. - - Joel ------------------------------ End of angry-psychos-digest V6 #63 **********************************
