And their justification for NOT playing nor promoting Poe right now is systematically being given as "We aren't playing angry female musicians right now." That classification is different from such as singer/songwriters, country-crossover, grunge, or any other label you can think of. What the hell IS an "angry female" artist anyways, as apossed to any OTHER female artist? Even the most bubblegum of pop queens out there can have their fury songs. And the most badass, balls-to-the-wall rocker boys can have their heartfelt, tender, squishy love songs. Give me a break. The gender of a singer is not a freakin' issue, and never should be even slightly accepted as one. What if radio stations were looking at the current sales of rap music and interpreted Eminem and Kid Rock as the best sellers and decided, "Only white rappers. That's what the kids are buying. That's what they want to hear." No, we don't need to argue the wrongness of such an action -- it's bloody obvious. Such is the "no angry women rockers" status. Yes, it is a vicious circle, and just like any vicious circle, SOME action must be taken to stop it. Once you learn how a system works, you must determine whether that system is right or not. If it's not, you must find your way to change it. Well, at least, that's the way I've always seen it. But what do I know. : ) KORi ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 2 Feb 2001 10:51:59 -0500 From: "meghan" Subject: AP Sticker Update Just a little update: Thanks to some very nice APs, I've got some money on the way so I can actually buy stickers to print out onto.
