And the exact words, at least in my version of the Bible, are: "And whosoever shall not recieve you, nor hear your words, when ye depart of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet." - ---Jesus Christ said that. - ---He goes on to say, "Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves." - ---Kind of goes against the killing in the name of God defense don't you think? - ---Sorry for the preaching folks, but I'm just trying to make a point. - ---Jobe - --- bonanza jelly-bean wrote: > hey do you know where that is in the bible? someone > showed it to me years > ago and i havent been able to find it again Yahoo! This leaves us mortals (well, those of you who believe in it anyway) to try and sort out just what the hell some scribe thousands of years ago is trying to say, and that scribe is trying to figure out what God said. Combine that with the fact that nowadays anyone who thinks God talks to them is immediately taken away by men in white coats and you really aren't sure what you're dealing with when you read the bible... a book of how to live with divine inspiration?!? maybe just the diary of someone who has had one too many hits of acid. Maybe it was written as a work of fiction by an ancient author... sorta like House Of Leaves. Who knows... maybe in a couple thousand years, they'll find a copy of HOL buried somewhere and think that it's their holy scriptures. Then there will be people out there trying to interpret that book in so many ways. ... and on the first day, Navidson said onto Johnny Truant, "This is not for you", and saw that it was good... First commandment: Thou shall color thy word house blue upon thy parchments with thine inks and instead of the infamous Jezabell... they'll be singing about thumper It's late, I'm a little punchy, that's my excuse for this ~Mike In a message dated 1/22/01 12:47:04 AM Eastern Standard Time, commissioner_jobe@yahoo.com writes: > ---I hate that alot of my fellow 'Christians' always > forget that Jesus once told his disciples that if they > go to a town and nobody wants to listen to them, that > they should, "dust off their feet, and move along." > Where did Christians take the wrong turn and learn > that being intolerant of other peoples' beliefs and > ways was okay?
