I find that lyrics in Christian music mostly are the singer's self-evaluation of his religion, and I have yet to see a song that talks down others for not being Christian. That kind of eliminates the discrimination. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 19 Jan 2001 00:18:55 -0800 (PST) From: "J.R. First off, ICP does not have a single song that promotes hatred or prejudice against anyone, except bigots and Eminem. In fact, the only people they hate are bigots and Eminem. Sure, they can definately be offensive, but in a funny way, not unlike the way the Bloodhound Gang is. - ---And about Eminem, if you listen to his albums just to find something offensive, you're sure to find something you like. The same goes for Manson. So what's the point then? If you're going to buy the new Eminem or Manson album, then I'm sure you already know what your getting into. It all comes down to the fact that if you don't like it, don't listen to it because nobody is forcing you to. If someone IS forcing you to listen to music you don't like, then might I suggest that you turn off the radio and/or Mtv. - ---Personally I find Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, etc. offensive. So you know what? I don't buy their albums. And I won't even go into how much country music offends me. - ---Jobe Get email at your own domain with Yahoo! Check out 'Gimme That Nutt' or 'I'd Rather F*** You' or 'Automobile' all by the late great Eazy-E if you want some classic, old school, sexually offensive gangsta rap songs. They are also all hilarious. - ---I never exactly found Christian Rock as being hateful, just really annoying. I might be a Christian and I might also like Rock music, but the idea of Rock music about Christianity just doesn't work with me. I have never heard anyone more racist. I wouldn't really take everyone else's advice and use Eminem and Marilyn Manson. First off, because everyone else in your class will probably use them as well. Second, because neither one of them is really that hateful, not seriously at least. - ---If you really want to make a statement, put Elvis Presley and Chuck Berry up there. Just to show that even music that we consider classics now was considered offensive by past generations. But I think they will have things set up pretty soon. Yes! All music is acceptable! No one has said that, mainly not Danielle's teacher. She has told them to bring in "HATEFUL" lyrics... songs that speak of the hatred of one group by another. Government was trying to decide whether or not it was right to allow such a near-monopoly to be established, but it seems they decided to approve it. I know I have added bits and pieces here and there, and gave my wonderfully bland intro...=) Well, my mom is teacher, so I kind of know where they are coming from, and yes they have these curriculums they have to follow, btw I think the "C" word is misspelled, adding an irony that neither I or my Spell check knows..lol Anyway, so most teachers, and I would hate to think my mom was not innovative enough to teach outside of the box, but you never know...I for one think that there should be the these absentness and additions to the school catalog. First there is NOT enough of the arts thought in school, that and an awareness of what is going on in the world around us...I mean I ask my friends kids what is going on in the world, and all of them shrug and go...I don't know, just kind of tragic to me...As far as what should be missing from schools? Well, there is certainly not a lot of discipline in today's school system, and that might seem like a harsh thing to say, but I'm talking from the point of being able to study well, and the distractions of the school enviorment..Not the military type, march in formation discipline. Hmmm, I had not meant to ramble for so long, oh, my last incoherent 2 cents...It is just plain wrong to hate something neutral, and music arts, and beliefs are those...People can be evil, institutions can be evil...You get the idea, even then, hating them generally does no good..Fighting them is another story, but hate will cloud your mind from seeing a clear path to achieving what needs to be done!! Well babble babble..Laters!! Marshall - -----Original Message----- From: owner-angry-psychos@smoe.org [mailto:owner-angry-psychos@smoe.org]On Behalf Of Madhatter?
