A child molester *in my opinion and several others* is someone who molests children that are 7 or 8 or something. She LEAD him on anyway, and she had the body of a woman. Cocteau Twins: 'Heaven or Las Vegas' DJ Shadow: 'Midnight in a Perfect World'; 'Building Steam with a Grain of Salt' Dubstar: 'Stars'; 'The Day I See You Again' Lisa Gerrard: 'Sacrifice' Lamb: 'Lusty'; 'Gorecki'; 'Lullaby' M*tallica: 'Fade to Black'; 'Orion' Orbital: 'Satan' Portishead: 'Theme from "To Kill a Dead Man"'; 'Tribute to Monk & Canatella' Remy Zero: 'Life in Rain' Sneaker Pimps: 'How Do' Squarepusher: 'Iambic 5 Poetry' I'm thinking now how could I not include Cocteau Twins, a group that makes only otherworldly re: heavenly music? Just about any song is brilliant and ethereal, especially off their album "Heaven or Las Vegas", but I pick the title track explicitly cos of the Heaven/Las Vegas dialectic. The two DJ Shadow songs cos they're both exceedingly pretty. 'Building...' I suppose works on a death theme because it's also a very spooky song, and the theme of things created out of unexpected things. 'Midnight...' cos it deals with an idealized other world. Dusbtar: 'Stars' is about artistic death, ie bombing onstage, which while I can't relate to on a literal level I nonetheless appreciate. 'The Day...' cos it's sort of like meeting again in the afterlife. If you ever have heard Lisa Gerrard's 'Sacrifice', you'll understand why it would make good goodbye music. What is this particular sacrifice? Dying. Lamb's 'Lusty' I take to be about finding peace, and 'Gorecki' just because it's fantastically beautiful. 'Lullaby' because it's a goodbye, very tearful. 'Fade to Black' is another nobrainer, though I didnt' think of it before. 'Orion' was played at Cliff's funeral, and while I'm not Cliff, I think it's a helluva song. Being an Orbital fan, I guess it's a bit weird not listing any Orbital songs, so I give the nod to 'Satan.' Just for irony. The Portishead remix and bside. 'Theme...' is incredibly dramatic. 'Tribute...' is incredibly jazzy. I just like them. 'Life in Rain' is also exceedingly beautiful, and also deals with I think other realities. At least the title does. 'How Do' is a wonderful closer to the Sneaker Pimps' album, another goodbye. Squarepusher's 'Iambic 5 Poetry' is _amazingly_ melodic, and gentle. And my earlier picks: Massive Attack: 'Teardrop' Autechre: 'vletrmx21' Autechre: '444' Sarah McLachlan: 'Elsewhere'/'Fumbling Towards Ecstasy' 'The Best Is Yet to Come' - end titles to Metal Gear: Solid Portishead: 'Western Eyes' 'Teardrop' because one of the things it addresses is existence beyond what we call "reality." Then cos it's a funeral it'd refer to the afterlife, and it's just plain beautiful. The Sarah songs, in addition to being my two favorites from "Fumbling Towards Ecstasy," are both uplifting triumphal songs in a subdued way. Two of them cos I can't really decide between. 'The Best is Yet to Come' is a very beautiful Celt-folk song, with a soaring vocal reminiscent of Liz Fraser's later work. Given its title, that death is not really an end, and its beauty. I picked the Portishead cos it's one of the more conventional |P| songs in their corpus yet is starkly beautiful. One of its lyrics include, "I feel so cold / on hookers and gin / this mess we're in" which come to think of it isn't that reassuring but in any case would be a nice jolt of irony. The two Autechre songs just cos they're beautiful. rambling always Lee "Do your dreams come true?" "I haven't had a nice dream for years." "I see that boy dyin and I dont feel nuthin." _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 30 Dec 2000 18:48:50 EST From: Thinggeee@aol.com Subject: Re: My funeral picks In a message dated 12/30/00 4:25:14 PM EST, commissioner_jobe@yahoo.com writes: << ---This is the order to be played. 1.
