Here's a strange little story for you all... I'm going to try out for Oklahoma this summer, and to prep me for my audition, my parents and i just watched the movie version not two hours ago this evening. I had already identified the character known as ado annie as the part i'm shooting for, so prior to this viewing i had begun practicing the songs the character sings, one of which is an interesting number known as "I cain't say no." No more than fifteen minutes after the movie was over i went to my napster (ahhhh! such bliss. illegal music) and on a whim, did a random search for poe, thinking maybe i'd find some songs that i had not yet heard, like off of soundtracks and stuff. And lo and behold, Poe herself covered that SAME SONG. I know. You all might not find that as weird as i did, but yes. I'm still shaking. Must be a sign :) anyway, back to the point. Does anyone have any idea for what and when she did "I Cain't say no"? I'd love to get the album, if it's on one... there's bound to be more treats on it. (Scoff all you want. Lyric-wise, the boy knows my mind inside and out, dammit.)KORi ** WOO HOO! Another Rob Thomas fan! I LOVE his lyrics Especially "Push" P.S. I just checked over my list I posted, and I see that I forgot "Fly Away". Jeezus, that's like a gospel singer accepting a Gramy and not thanking God. **LOL** P.P.S. Is it a bit sick that when most girls are trying to think of what songs they want played at their wedding, I was mulling over this issue.... and had been doing so for many years before? **Quite the contrary my dear, I think we're the normal ones. After all, everyone dies eventually...why plan for a wedding that may never happen?** Abi ------------------------------ Date: 30 Dec 2000 00:02:43 -0500 From: meowkittie@gurlmail.com Subject: Re: funeral picks Okay...a couple of things... first, i'm new to the list... second, what's with this funeral picks thing...? it kinda scares me since i've been so close to actually having my own funeral... and last, a quick thing about the song 'fly away'...a couple of years ago at my former highschool (i'm still in highschool i just don't go there anymore) there was an awful accident in which 5 juniors who were high at the time died in a car accident. at the memorial service held a few days after the event i got up and sang 'fly away' sobbing the whole time...so that's it...hi to everybody on the list... I've thought of better ones since. Here they are: Wildflower - Sonic Youth Farewell Reel - Patti Smith Just Like Anyone - Aimee Mann Heaven Bound - Kelly Willis (the music is somewhat upbeat, but the lyrics are very sad) Ballad of Big Nothing - Elliot Smith OR Memphis - PJ Harvey OR Hits of Sunshine - Sonic Youth (can't help it, big SY fan) Brett _______________________________________________________ Send a cool gift with your E-Card http://www.bluemountain.com/giftcenter/ ------------------------------ End of angry-psychos-digest V5 #347 ***********************************
