Subject: Poe - Sell Out -Final Word
I know I caused a reaction with my sell out post. However the focus moved
away from my point and onto the term sellout. Poe is not a sell-out, I
repeat, Poe is not a sellout. I do not wish to push this issue further. To
the person who said I must not have anything better to do... The fact is I
WAS trying to elicit a reaction from the group. Not necessarily in a bad
way. It was just something eating at me and I threw it out there to get
other view points on it. I had not considered the possibility that Poe had
no REAL control over the use of the song in the movie. Instead of being
flamed, that point would have solved the debate, in fact, here is a response
I got directly from Poe herself today...
>>>>
let it be noted that I did not receive a dime for the license of Haunted to
the 'Blaire Witch' people. Sony and Atltantic, on the other hand, recieved
quite a nice chunk of change. Sorry, haven't managed to sell out yet.. I'll
let you know when I do.
love, p+E
>>>>
so, there, no issue. What I really want to stress is that I do NOT hold the
view that Poe is a sellout or on the verge of Selling out. And to the people
who made the flabbergasted statements that, "Of course, money is a factor,
who the hell wouldn't take it!!!", thank you for proving my actual point. My
point was that of course money was a factor, not just artistic intentions
and therefore admit that when questioned about it. It's not a big deal, I'm
just obsessive over what people say and how they say it. BTW, just to keep
the list a bit quieter, any further correspondence should be directed to me
and not the list.

Where the hell do you find Poe singles? My favorite little music store back
in Indy where I got all of my hard to find Tori and U2 singles, imports, and
bootlegs don't even have any. Please help. (Does any one have CD-R
capabilities that they could possibly make me copies? I only have Tori and
some U2 stuff to trade, but I could do a two for one or something.) Anyway,
thanks in advance.

OKay, here are the results as I see them
(Feel free to email me if you are an OAP member and lemme know if u disagree)

the official Capital...however...as the "organizer" of these things...I am
going to be planning to organize (with the help of some people) three
different get-togethers for our lovely OAP members...once in Cincy for the
Cincy/Dayton/KY members...one in Cleveland for our northern members...and one
big shabang in Columbus for ALL the OAP members who can attend...(if you are
not an OAP member u are not barred from entering such events...however you
may be slightly mocked..JK)
- ---side note...if You wish to be the Cincy/Dayton Asst. Organizer...please
email me....for now I will remain the Cleveland organizer and Jay Kulpa will
be the Columbus Asst. (ass) since he donated his home in a previous email...
Colors: Black and silver (what fabrics you use, is your business *ahem vinyl*)
Nickname: The OddBallz (pretty much uninamous)
Motto: I took it upon myself to make a compromise:
"Home of the Multi-Orgasmic Vinyl Sex Kittens"
Flower: this one is still a dead lock tie.....please vote
Venus Fly-Trap OR Poppy
Song: CONTROL (another uninamous one)
Bird: Griffin
Drink: anything that is an aphrodisiac....(i think the OAP members are horny
buggers...i cannot say for sure...but the ones I know sure as hell are...;) )

Subject: "selling out" and whatnot
I don't know if this was mentioned or not before, but Poe *has* had her songs
on movie soundtracks ((Stir Or Echoes., Anywhere But Here, Great
Expectation)), and I never heard anyone saying Poe sold out merely because of
this.
My personal definition of a sellout is a person who changes their style to
fit whatever happens to be the mainstream at the moment for the sole purpose
of making money. It is along the same lines as a poseur. And I must
momentarily interrupt myself to tell everyone a little story of one such
*poseur*. A guy I met recently asked if I had any URL's of *goth* websites
((stores and such)), and I asked why, and he said it was because he wanted to
buy something. I then asked him what he wanted to buy and he replied
((direct freaking quote., I swear)) "I don't care., as long as it's goth."
.Now I must say at this moment., I am *not* goth. .I look 12, how am I
supposed to scare anyone ((stereotype stereotype))?
And now for whomever said that 10 Things I Hate About You was one of the best
movies of 1999 ... I believe I must agree. With all the *teenager* films
being produced, and sucking worse than anything imaginable., 10 Things was
good. I watch it far too much, and I know far too many quotes from it., and
if someone spouts a line, more than likely I know the one that follows.
Speaking of movies., if the notion of doing a remake of Logan's Run is still
... happening? I dread it. Like., damn, if anyone has seen that movie., but
hasn't heard of a remake, let me say one name, and one name only ... Leonardo
DiCaprio ((as Logan, of course)).
Okay., and now I seem to have lost my train of thought ... ummm ... errr ...
I feel dumb now ... any Florida AP's around? Haven't heard any mention of
any.
OK OK., I'll stop rambling now.

More SOAP action is coming your way..
I've been talking with Monkeygrrl66 and we've decided to put together

It's been registered and the DNS will probably go through tonight..
If anyone has suggestions on what to do with it... be my guest and send
some stuff to eather monkeygrrl66 or me.
So far.. The only ideas i've come up with are :
FREE @so-ap.com email for SOAP'ers.
Profiles of SO-AP's
a gathering news section of some sort..
after that.. who knows... hehe... but we got 20MBit of bandwidth to blow.

true dat brotha, I was also kinda shocked at that movie. my sister lied and
said that PJ Harvey was mentioned for me to watch it and I actually enjoyed
it. As everyone already knows, she is not a sellout, yaddy yaddy yadda, next
subject-
this is my idea for the "hey Pretty" video. I see it kind of being a "alice
in wonderland" motif, i know it is a bit overdone but here me out. I see a
hot guy (myself) trying to get out of the house of leaves with Poe playing
with his fragile sanity. I would like for it to be in black and white, with a
buncha funky camera angles with the walls consltantley sliding and changing
with cut scenes of sexy Poe Gyrating to the song. The "nonstop whole in my
head" part i see hands poppin out of the ground and running up the length of
his legs really quick. it suddenly to snow and "Building that has 2000
floors" Poe is dancing with a snowglobe with the guy inside inside and she
drops hime with a "i dont give a f**k" look on her face and he crashes on the
floor right along with the drum crash. Then all of a sudden Poe is in the 5
1/2 minute hallway and is coming after him lookin kinda pissed yet in a sexy
way. you get the idea. I know to some of you this may seem like a lame idea
but please go easy on me i have a low self esteem ;(
Name- Jon Lee

Age 19
I met a buncha interesting people when Poe came to borders. "hey guys!" and
the guy that asked the question on how her mother felt, you stole my
question! just joshin with ya. Well anyway, sorry for boring everyone, amuse
yourselves by finding my typos

That was me. Persecute me as any of you may, but I would sit in a burning
theater to conclude my viewing of just about any flick with either Heath od
Julia. (OK, I never did force myself to sit thru "Down To You", but that's a
personal aversion to Freddie Prinze, Jr.) I actually saw "10 Things" a total
of five times in the theater alone, (4 of those viewings in one weekend,) and
then a friend of mine who works at a Blockbuster obtained a copy for me to
own as soon as possible. (The theater viewing was bad enough. She felt it
was up to her to at least halt the pay-per-view frenzy. : ) What can I say?
I had no teen years. At age 27, I had to make Heath Ledger my New Kid on the
Block. (teehee) Why am I admitting all these embarrassing facts to you
people? Guess this is my AA meeting. ("Australians Anonymous", in this case.
: )
As for Poe's music in films, actually, another song of hers ("Fly Away") was
featured in another fave-of-all-time film of mine, "Music From Another Room".
(Any self-respecting Jude Law fan should be all over this flick.) Talk about
a great movie. Great cast, great story, and wonderful music. Sadly enough,
they did not release a soundtrack for it. (A movie witht he word "music" in
it not having a soundtrack. That's just so messed up.)
