I would also be scared of a marketing firm that didn't realize there is another company called EA (aka: Electronic Arts who make a much more entertaining product) when coming up with their own brand identity. Duh. My point? Poe is going to last a lot longer than this useless company with their limited funding. Support Poe and all your favorite artists, but don't fall victim to this latest marketing scheme that will only make Marc Schiller and Ken Krasner rich. I admire the beauty of this arrangement where no one person controls the entity , it is the sum of it's parts, freely given that make uP the AP community. Certainly #poe on irc.dal.net was created in this spirit, it is almost self perpetuating, requiring only that at least one registered channel operator out of over 50 show up at least once a month, nothing belongs to anybody, it only "IS" because those who ARE the input make "IT" so, such are the building blocks of the "AP Community" When the home team leaves town for that shiny new stadium in another time zone, loyalty becomes a hard lesson. For those who have spent the last few years rooting for a "Team Poe" that many had declared dead in the water, it comes as a surprise to find that she has switched stadiums. Suddenly EA is the self proclaimed "Online Street Team" and they have the honor and privilege of hosting chats with Poe, they proclaim that THEY hold responsibility for Poe's success, http://poe.org and the AP's are relegated to UNMENTIONED status. To those who claimed that Poe's teaming with EA would not effect the AP's you were wrong. As I told Robby Black, I am not here to argue with the star of the show, however that does not mean I have to LIKE the transition that has taken place, if she wants to be piSSed because I call the "Online Street Team" "Fuckers" I offer no apologies, As far as what went down on #poe, after just about 4 years of waiting, Poe showed up for 6 minutes, to defend electric artists, point up my lack of understanding of logistics, bemoan the logistics of making it to a chat, even tho it has been pointed out that chat is open 24/7, and yes, implying that I was some how less of a fan because I did not make it to Ohio. I suspect that this is in retaliation for my posting that perhaps Poe marches to the beat of somebody else's drum, but as I said, after almost four years of waiting, this is heady stuff. I offered her an apology if my anger seems directed at her, as it is not. I offered her a "Welcome Home" via an ASCII art display, I informed her that the names "Poe" and "MZD" remain registered with Robby Black holding the passwords, I agreed with her that yes the AP's are a "family" and then I said to her that I felt it was strange that we had to go visit a stranger if we wanted to visit with our "family" Now if someone wants to label those very LONG six minutes a joke, it is the first that I have been informed about it. Again, I am sorry if Poe feels my dislike for the "Online Street Team" should be a cause for her anger, or as it was suggested her disappointment, I take comfort in the knowledge that the VAST majority of what I am reading from those who have been around here longer than me, don't much care for the online street team either. So there ya have it, I still don't like the "Online Street Team" , it is a divisive element almost as if by design, Poe is piSSed, and POVIE can go wallow in shit cuz it d0nt change how "beTTer than MAO" feels. Obviously there will be no end to the streams of people who find their way to Poe online just as they always have, via http://poe.org I'm sure Electric Artists will congratulate all of their people for this. Poe the inspiration I'm an AP from Oklahoma, new to the list ... I've moved to Fayetteville, AR, but still consider OK my home. Yes I do know what a strip club is, though I can't imagine ever having a need to visit one. I absolutely love Poe, as owner of a graphic design business, I find that Poe's striking voice is a true inspiration, and lately I haven't taken Haunted out of my cd player at the office (except of course to pop it in the car for the road) I saw Poe in Tulsa, and it was undoubtedly the best show I have EVER seen. She had the flu, but still came out and played her guts out. Poe is a goddess, an example of a genuine artist who has not lost her desire for the pursuit of the beauty that lies within herself. In a world so commercial, I find it very hard at times to reach in and pull out the creativity inside me, rather than slapping together something to please my clients. Listening to Poe gives me the direction I thought I had lost. It was a long wait for the second CD, but sooooo very worth it. I joined this list to insure I would never miss any new information on Poe's appearances and tour dates. Now we can just get past the striptease bull? I can't seem to filter it all out. Ok here goes. I see it starting off just showing it snowing on like this black background, then the camera would go down to this little city (some old kind of city like in Spain or France, ya know?) and Poe would be there walking through the streets (and singing the song of course) just doing what it says in the song, looking for a lost love. So basically she'd just be running around this city for awhile. But at the end Poe would be pressed up against a piece of glass (like she were looking in a store window) and the camera would zoom out and show that she was really in a snow globe. That's it.
