OCRing the whole thing and dumping it at once can't work; while it takes the least time, it's too overwhelming to check everything for accuracy. On the other hand, a human typing out the whole darn thing is also way prone to making errors. So I suggest we compromise: OCR small sections at a time, say 5 to 10 lines, label each part, then have a bunch of psychos scrutinize it. We can put up the scans of the book on Ed's site so people can compare it without the hardcover and a hex editor. Of course, this idea is simply way too reasonable for this list to get together ::P On the brighter side, I was randomly scrolling through notajunkie's hex, and saw this character conversion: apPOE (except it was a curly E) For the non-techie PsYcHoS, hex in the context we're talking about isn't a curse ;) It's computer related, short for hexadecimal. Goodbye Strippers - -------------------------------- Strippers - -------------------------------- So, there's that guy telling the whole world that he's seen a stripper who looks like our favorite Angel Feather (Poe). So, I now know that somewhere, miles and hours from where I live, a Poe-like girl is doing strips.I did well joining the angry psychos. But what about a stripper who would look like my baker's daughter ??? - -------------------------------- Fly Away - -------------------------------- And There's that KYRON who writes what in France we call an "open letter" (Open letter). It's a "LETTRE OUVERTE A POE" He/she is saying to the whole world what she feels about Poe's attitude, even if the message is dedicated to Poe only... There are authors who write books based on this method (??? right word ???) and earn tons of dollars (or Francs, or pounds, or...) Boris Vian (an excellent french song writer) wrote an excellent song against war: Le D=E9serteur. "Mr le pr=E9sident Je vous =E9cris cette lettre que vous lirez peut-=EAtre si vous avez le temps..." (Dear President I write you this letter That you might read If you have time...) So best is to leave this KYRON alone: he/she said what she wanted to say, he/she told it to every psycho... Then... ...then he/she feels better, maybe... Peace Kyron... and next time, add me to the list of people whoseanswer you allow... Please - -------------------------------- The situation in France - -------------------------------- When Poe's first CD has been released in France, (that's when I bought it)there were tons of it at the record shops. Not 1,5,or 10. But tons... You could listen to it with headphones... (that's what I did...) I think they (record shops, record company...) really believed it would work... It first was in the "Pop/Rock" area, and did not work. Then it moved to the "Trip-hop" area: did not work. Then moved to the "Sales" area: even there, did not work. The guy at the shop, laughing at me when I asked if there were or would be singles !!! Such a stupid question, he believed. Poe had not enough success to have singles released !!!! Then I bought a 2nd one for a friend: 19.00 Fr, that is about 3$. There's that "song" at the end of her first CD: She's laughing and waving "Goodbye", as a promise that we will meet again. I Then started wondering if this promise would ever be a rality: would there be a 2nd Cd?would it be distributed in France? Now, thanks to Internet, and especially to Poe-fan-pages, I know that there has been singles, compilations, ... and even a brand new, fresh but still hot, 2nd CD. I'm only wondering if ever it will be distributed in France... But no matter: I'll find a way to get it... - -------------------------------- Who am I ? - -------------------------------- I am me. But I suppose that won't be enough, to introduce myself. So: I'm 39 (or soon will be),scorpio rising scorpio, male, married, 2 children (2 boys: 11 and 8) I'm a teacher for intellectually deficient children (13 of them in my classroom) and I drive a red Fiat Panda. I love bats, and spend some of my nights bat-working. My blood group is B- Apart of POE, my favorite bands/musicians are (but I suppose you already stopped reading): Kate Bush, Tori Amos, Sophie Moleta, Garbage, Liz Phair, Tracy Bonham, Radiohead, Placebo, Eve's Plum. I'm interested because I've warned spOOk in private that his rather arrogant holier-than-Mao attitude would one day get him in trouble. SpOOkie if you're reading this take no offense...I love a person who speaks his mind...I just also love it when I can say 'I told you so....' Who doesn't, right? Ok here goes. I see it starting off just showing it snowing on like this black background, then the camera would go down to this little city (some old kind of city like in Spain or France, ya know?) and Poe would be there walking through the streets (and singing the song of course) just doing what it says in the song, looking for a lost love. So basically she'd just be running around this city for awhile. But at the end Poe would be pressed up against a piece of glass (like she were looking in a store window) and the camera would zoom out and show that she was really in a snow globe. That's it. So what did you guys think? I want bad comments along with good, so if you really hated it just tell me =o}. Tessa ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 17 Nov 2000 22:13:22 EST From: Iamtheher4u@aol.com Subject: i tried to send this before, but it didnt want to work... here we go again... These have been going around a lot so I decided to introduce myself so here's me... let me warn you now, there's a lot under interesting info... even though it's not that interesting to anyone else but me =o}. (1)  Who you are?  Tessa (2)  Where you're from? Virginia (blah) (3)  How old you are? 16 (17 on December 5 woohoo!!!) (4)  Where you first heard Poe?  I heard her on the radio when Hello first came out and I made my mom go buy me the cd, which by the way got stolen but then I went out and got another one so it's ok now... but believe me I'm still bitter... (5)  What other musicians do you listen to? Madonna, Garbage, Cranberries, No Doubt, Bush, Matthew Good Band, tons of soundtracks (I like variety), Caviar (they have a song from  the new Charlie's Angels movie called Tangerine Speedo, download it, it's great) (6)  Any other interesting information you wish to share.  I'm a huge movie buff, especially old horror movies, if you ever get the chance watch the movie Equinox, it's horrible (I loved it =o}).  I LOVE Madonna (Maddy as I refer to her).  I've loved her since I can remember which is pretty far (about when I was 3). I have two dogs, I love my boys =o}. I LOVE cartoons, they're just about the only thing I watch. My favorite color is orange.  I love platforms.  I have orange platforms, they're my favorite shoes. I own a black jumpsuit. Yeah so I'm stuck in the 70's, disco rocks, sue me =o}. My best friend's name is Drew, he's a big loser who doesn't like Poe, but he does like "Not a Virgin" and "Walk the Walk." I have a new friend named Slyvia she's from France... I don't know if she's heard of Poe... I'll ask. Um... if you can't tell I like talking about myself, no I'm not conceited, I just like telling everyone about stuff I like =o}. Hmm... My favorite food is chocolate. I love cinnamon buns, everyone forgets about the cinnamon bun, but not me, I love those things. I'm pretty lazy, but I do exert myself every spring and "play" tennis (I just sit there). My best sport is badminton, I am the badminton queen of everywhere. I loved the movie "Charlie's Angels" it was so good, the fights were so cool even if they were extremely unrealistic. If you can't tell I'm a loser who has nothing better to do than tell you guys all about me... but I'm gonna go now, cuz I'm sick, and supposed to be sleeping... oops... =o} ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 17 Nov 2000 22:15:32 EST From: Iamtheher4u@aol.com Subject: Re: Spanish Doll Video Thanks Jez=o}, 1 for the liking 0 for the not... yes I'm going to keep score... ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 17 Nov 2000 23:25:05 EST From: GabriKn@aol.com Subject: Re: Stripping????
