(i didn't have an external mic to record, so i had to rely on the built-in mic in my laptop.) i made the mp3s of the songs anyway though, in case you want to hear them, though i think they could just give you hearing damage! ;) i guess you can just queue the speaking parts up with the album-version mp3s of "control," "5 1/2," "spanish doll," and "if you were here" to make everything flow. and for "hey pretty," since mark and poe do the reading and singing together, it sounds a little weird. i tried cutting up the piece and "just another drive" from the promo cd to run the speaking part with poe's singing from the cd version of "just another drive." since the "just another drive" from the cd is a little different (longer), it doesn't work that well. but hey, i tried. everything is in order by number, and the spliced cd version of just another drive is labeled "poe-heypretty1.mp3" and so on. sorry i don't have pictures to share, but my friend lost the roll i took at borders. i was sad about that, since that roll also had some more pictures from the blair witch party, as well as a few pictures from two other bands' shows. :( if any so.cal psychos can make me prints of their borders photos, please email me! i hope you like the mp3s, and email me if you have any problems downloading them. My suggestion for all of the AOL users would be to download Netscape Navigator or Communicator (netscape.com) and install it. Once you have it, log into AOL and then minimize it, you can then open up Netscape and use that as your browser, then download the newest Flash player available at Macromedia.com - You may be able to use Internet Explorer also, you don't have to use the AOL browser at all if you don't want to. Hope this helps. For the WBER interview, I would email the station at wber@monroe.edu and see what they can do for you. I...........am Jeffery Scott I was born in Glendale CA (we all make mistakes). And I have somehow managed to find myself back, or near here. (lucky me, huh?) At any rate............. I am 37..........Or, at least that's what my parents have told me and that's what my birth certificate would imply. Friends usually beg to differ with this however, stating that they believe that I am "locked" somewhere between 16 and 21.( this IS a good thing.................right?) Besides, what exactly IS 37 years old supposed to be like anyway??? Let's move on. Shall we? I first heard Poe in my room at The Luxor Hotel in Vegas on Sept. 10th, 1996. A few of my friends decided that we should celebrate my birthday in Vegas as it seems to be one of the last bastions of hope for the pursuit of (near?) un-lawful behavior.............Which seems to be the re-occurring theme for my birthday celebrations. Which, by the way, you guys missed out on a major blowout this last one. Oh well. There's always NEXT year. A buddy of mine came busting into my room with his CD player proclaiming, "YOU JUST GOTTA HEAR THIS!!!!!". Well, I have been absolutely hooked on our Lady Poe ever since. I have been on the edge of my seat for this last release. The wait has felt like an eternity. (as I am sure you can all relate too). This also managed to proove to me that I have some very intelligent friends. Next............. Other Musicians? Are there any? Oh yeah!! That's right! There ARE a few, I guess. I forgot for a moment. Bowie. U2. David Sylvian. Nine Inch Nails. Ruby. Hooverphonic. Crystal Method. Lorrenna McKennit. Gary Numan. Orb. The The. Radiohead. Tool. Orgy. Marilyn Manson. Ministry. Rob Zombie. Portishead. Dido. Billy Holiday. Bjork. The list COULD be longer.......But I'll spare you all from the torment. Onward....... I am a "Professional Artist". DAMN! I LOVE BEING ABLE TO SAY THAT!!! I got to the Border's at 10:00am so I was more than a little early. It was quite a wait but once the show finally started it was amazing. - ---I don't know how Poe does it, I could never talk about my personal shit the way she does, she is truly a one of a kind! Mark was great too, you could tell that the crowd was really interested in what he was reading. Cody is the man! The way he mixed everything was great. And lets not forget dear old Dad, it truly felt like he was there with all of us, all the while poking fun at Poe and Mark. I even got a chance to ask how their mother reacted to Poe's album, it was cool. Oh yeah, the duet between Poe and Mark of Hey Pretty was AWESOME!!! If anyone has this I would love a copy!!! - ---After the show everyone followed the taped line on the floor, like mindless sheep, to a table where Poe and Mark sat waiting to meet and talk to everyone. It was a pretty long line so the wait was long but it was completely worth it. - ---BTW: I ABSOLUTELY HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE ARE BITCHING ABOUT HOW LONG IT IS TAKING TO GET TO THE FRONT. IF YOU DON'T CARE ENOUGH TO WAIT AWHILE, THEN GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE LINE!!! DON'T BRING THE REST OF US DOWN WITH YOUR CONSTANT BITCHING!!! AND ANY PSYCHOS THAT JOINED IN ON THE BITCHING, YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED!!!(WHEW! sorry about that, but I had to get it off my chest!) The other guy from Oklahoma City that was in line next to me knows what I'm talking about. - ---Anyway when I finally got to see Mark, oh yeah they kind of split the line towards the end so they could move us through faster, he said he hoped that my life wasn't as bad as Job's was(a Bible reference if you didn't know). He asked what I was studying in college and he signed my copy of HOL. Mark was really cool and he truly seemed to care about every person he met. - ---Then I got to meet Poe herself, she was so cool and down to earth, everything I had heard about her was true. She signed all of my CD's I had, and after I told her I had to drive all the way back to Oklahoma that night she told me to drive carefully and to pull over if I got too tired, she even said jokingly that if I saw their bus, to stop them and they would have a bunk for me to sleep on, TOO COOL!!! Anyway they were all great, and I felt afterwards that Poe and Mark truly care about their fans like family. All I know is that now I feel like I have a new brother and sister in the world! - ---Sorry that this was so long but I had to share my experience with someone!!! - ---Jobe p.s. Who was it that I was talking to before the show, I didn't catch your name but I think your hair was so cool. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! I hope it was worth it for everyone else ... Second, all this bashing about one angry letter because of a cancelled listening party. I'm not trying to be condescending, or wise, or anything - but, come ON, it gets SO repetitive - if you're going to reprimand someone, at least do it personally, and don't send it to the entire list. It's embarrassing for the victim and boring for everyone else. Secondly, regardless of age, isn't it sort of a tacit principle that all Angry Psychos are created equal? All those endless letters sounded like a speech my mother might give. Why not approach each other as equals? Finally (I know, I know - thank God) WAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!! I'm so jealous of everyone who got to see Poe!! I'm in NY and couldn't make it to the listening party or either of the shows. So I'm content to put the album on Repeat. EMAIL BACK YOUR FULL NAME, ADDRESS AND PHONE NUMBER TO BE ENTERED INTO THIS CONTEST. HAUNTED is the long-awaited follow-up to POE's acclaimed, FEI/Atlantic debut album, HELLO. POE sets out on a musical path which she calls "a journey towards intimacy." From the soaring title track to the dynamic, scorching "Walk The Walk" to the flamenco-flavored "Spanish Doll," the trajectory of that journey is dual-purpose: getting to better know her late father, the esteemed documentary filmmaker and lecturer Tad Danielewski, and gaining a better understanding of self. Utterly unique is HAUNTED's thematic links to the recently published House of Leaves (Pantheon), the widely praised debut novel from POE's brother, Mark Z. Danielewski. As POE explains, her album and Mark's novel are two individual creative responses to the same events. Her brother says of the album, "It's not a soundtrack for the book. It's a parallax view of the same history." The Characters that populate HAUNTED are likewise found at the heart of House of Leaves, as are the foreboding, the quest for resolution, and the reverberations of an all too often intangible past.
