I had about 3 hours sleep the night before and when i got back i only got about 6 hours sleep before having to get up and goto work today. so, my post is late. I see rusty did a really good interpretatio of the events. that show ws the most amazing piece of art i have seen in my life. it defined "rave". the psychos owned the show. the local borders crowd didn't know what to make of us. i gave a few people directions on how to become an AP. Poe's Dj, Cody, is the shit! He is the coolest guy to talk to. oh, yeah, erin, sara and sister say your welcome. BTW, to clear up any future confusion (kyl, rusty) my name is Jeremy but I have been using my Debian Linux handle for so long that i go by that name just as well :). The "Debian Girl" was a guy. I took a crapload of pics and mpeg clips, i'm gonna find some webspace and then post a link. Poe promised to send me vinyl personally! This made me about shit my parents because i have been dreaming of that. In fct, the only question i had saved for the borders question/answer session was concerning vinyl and Poe answered it for me way early by asking if any of us were Dj's. When she found out i was she promised the vinyl! also, riding on her tour bus was a highlight. Many thanks goto Kyl for putting together an excellent listening party. It's amazing how friendly the Ap's are. Shoutz to Laura, Christy, Rusty, Russ, Erin, Dustin and your Girlfriend. Sorry I can't remember so many names. I love all you guys. I can't till the "ambient arena queen" returns for a full-band tour! _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Millions of Products. All in one Place. http://shopping.yahoo.com/ ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 11 Nov 2000 07:13:20 -0500 From: "Daniel Sharps" Subject: NPR: Hello ;) Let's see...getting to know me. As you can probably tell, my name's Daniel Sharps. Currently I'm residing in Richmond, Virginia (which just happens to be the most boring place on earth (but then again, isn't any town a person lives in the most boring place on earth to the person living there?)) I'm currently 20, but that will change soon enough (only a couple more months). Where did I first hear Poe? Actually, I first heard Poe through my girlfriend, she had the album Hello and would listen to it from time to time and I actually dug it. And then a few months down the road (I think it was July of this year) a local store around here (Soundhole) was giving away a bunch of stuff, and amongst all the stuff was a promo copy of "Haunted" which I decided to pick up for my girlfriend. And well, after listening to the new album pretty regularly for a couple of months before it finally got released, I have to admit, I was pretty hooked. The album was and is just amazing. There's no other way to describe it that would even remotely do it justice. I suppose the next question is what other artists do I listen to...well, to say the least, I'm a huge fan of Justin Broadrick (Godflesh, Final, Techno Animal, Head of David, Ice, etc.) his music inspires me to no end, and it's just amazing that one man can possibly produce as much music as he does. Other than that I'm a pretty eclectic in my musical tastes...The Gathering, Machine Head, Fear Factory, Nobuo Uematsu, Einstruzende Neubauten, Bowie, Dream Theater...just to drop a few names...though that's by no means a remotely complete list ;) I suppose as far as other relevent information goes...I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the performance Poe and her brother did in DC last night (which is where I found out about this list) and well, it was truely one of the most unbelievable things I've even been able to be a part of. (heck, my friend even got Poe to sign his Spooky, how cool is that?) Oh well, I suppose I'll stop rambling now. You've all heard enough from me at the moment =) Take it easy and have a good night. - Daniel. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 11 Nov 2000 07:36:41 -0800 From: "The Princess" Subject: Hey Ya'll, Another New AP Here I know everyone out there is Psycho-land wants to know who is this chic.... well here I am in full tecno-color.. sorta (1) Who are you? My name is Angel but my friends call me Princess (2) Where you from? I'm from the Gulf Coast of Mississippi, that's right a true Southern Bell *wink-wink* (3) How old are you? I'm 18, though nobody believes me. You know what, I actually got carded going to the movies tonight, it was really sad. (4) Where did you first hear Poe? I've been thinkin' about this all night and I can't put a finger on the exact date but I've loved her stuff for a few years now. A friend of mine had her cd and she was playing Angry Johnny one night and I was like "hey that sounds familiar who is that?" Well I found out it was Poe and I then went out and bought the cd. She has a beautiful voice and I fell in love with her whole cd as soon as I put her in my radio. I had been listening to that cd every night (for years) up until I got her newest cd. Now I switch it up. (5) What other musicians do you listen to? One of my newest favs is Dido, she sounds alittle like Poe and she's great. You would know her from the song she does with Eminem called "Stan" and I just found out the theme song to "Roswell" is her song to called "Here with me". Hmm I love Al Green too, he's great. And I'm totally in love with STP. I just recently saw them at the voodoo fest along with some of my other favs (Cypress Hill, Eminem, 311, and a few others) but I like all kinda music really from Country to Oldies to Rap. I love it all! (6) Any other interesting information you wish to share. Not much else really to great going on right now. I tend to be alittle on the crazy side (who would've guessed right) but hey it's all kewl. And if you ever wanna chat I'm usually on if I'm not at work. Good taste in music there kid... esp the Thrill Kill Kult. - -Mike - -----Original Message----- From: owner-angry-psychos@smoe.org [mailto:owner-angry-psychos@smoe.org]On Behalf Of Dustin Lacina Sent: Saturday, November 11, 2000 7:04 AM To: angry-psychos@smoe.org Subject: NPR: 'Allo\*SQUEEK!* Did you say "hello?" *smirk* Okay now everyone's had their Labyrinth quote daily allowance met. But, its a water soluble vitamin so um, its not to bad to take a lot of it, like vitamin c and stuff. Mmmm... vitamin c... yummy citrus lozenges. *SQUEEK* Oh yeah where was i, thanks spooky, Hi! I'm a new Psycho. Well... i've always been Psycho but now i'm one of you <> OoOOoOOOoOoOOoOoo. So to those whom care. What follows is a highly structured attempt at a glimpse at who i am. *SQUEEEEEEK* oh, him to *points at Poe-Spooky* > (1) Who you are?, I'm really a Plutonian marshmallow, but i take on the form of this bipedal humanoid known as Dustin. OoOoOo. My sidekick is in the form of a small rubber squeak toy. We call him Spooky, for that is his given name. Now however he is Poe-Spooky. :D Because she wrote on his head. :D So he's got her mark of doom. Yep. It's true. :P We have the awful photographs to prove it. :P Well, once we get them developed at least. But hey! They'll exist soon enough *maniacal laughter* :P > (2) Where you're from?, A small plot of land in the northern hemisphere of pluto called Richmond, VA...but for postal purposes i reside in this region known as "Rockville...no not Maryland." Now isn't that just faaaabulous? It is. It's Emperor Fabulous I. Honest! Spooky... Well... he's from China. But when i found him he was trapped in a box on Grace St. Amazing what people will do to squeek toys for a buck. > (3) How old you are?, 17. But really....er....nah i'm just 17 :P > (4) Where you first heard Poe?, Um... *blink*... The first time i ever really "Heard" Poe was at a Plan 9, a music store in Richmond, back around when Hello came out. So i went up to the guy working there and was like "me want cd playing!" Although probably in not so many words. And he hooked me up. We can liken this to getting dealt crack for the first time. Because ever since i have had to have my regular hit of poe every day, more often multiple times a day. In fact *twitch* i could use a hit now. :P > (5) What other musicians do you listen to? Way too many to get into but aside from POE, here's a short little list. Bowie (duh..he's Bowie man, nuff said :P), Tom Waits (just change what i said about bowie to have tom waits where bowie is), Bjork (again. Bowie becomes Bjork and you have the statement), Peter Gabriel (ditto), 10,000 Maniacs (before natalie merchant left, i grew up on this stuff so its like in my blood or something :P), My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult (i like their disco stuff better than their early industrial days), Crash Test Dummies (their lyrics crack me up), They Might Be Giants (they're silly), and Switchblade Symphony (oOoOoOOo Spooky (the adjective not the squeektoy) music :P) will prolly round that off. I pretty much listen to just about everything, even some country (although i tend to stick to Mary Chapin Carpenter). Although the stuff that really inspires me is like Poe, Bjork, Tom Waits, and Peter Gabriel. But i'm just goofy like that. Spooky's really a hardcore rivethead. He loves Chemlab and Skinny Puppy. What can i say? :P > (6) Any other interesting information you wish to share. POE SIGNED MY SPOOKY! How cool is that? I mean honestly. I was like convulsing in the parking deck after that. She wrote "Oh no POE's writing on my head" In a little thought bubble on Spooky's head. Now begins the quest for clear spray varnish. Yep, spooky's got a bit of an inhalant addiction. He's getting help. But you know... just one last time won't hurt him too much :PPP Other than that... um i'm a total flake, but i'm a laid back groovie flake. If you want i'm like ALWAYS online (i have no life WHEEE :P) So you can always find me on ICQ (8180065) or AIM (FuzzyLilMammal). Everyone's being so bitchy about pOe's tight schedule... at least you people get to SEE her! >> Hell, I think the fans should be grateful she's just doing this tour. In many cases, the pairing of a book and an album like this would be nothing but a "gimmick," slickly (albeit carefully and and smartly) created to boost sales of of of either or both of the projects. Perhaps you'd have to buy the items together, yet no less expensive. And a tour such as this? Please. The label and likely the artist as well would feel effort enough had been made. But of course, as we all know, this certainly is not the case with Poe and Mark. Of course, they owe their talents to their parents and themselves. Without fans, I'm sure they would still be artists. But without fans, they would not have careers. (At least not doing these things.) And they realize this clear as day. They are giving all of themselves, and then some. Who else out there does such a tour? Gives such a personal, intimate, open setting? Then, after performing, talking, and telling stories, begin meeting masses of fans personally (and they truly do MEET each person) and signing autographs?? You know, I've known a ton of artists over the years, and I really cannot recall any other venture like this. There should be Grammys for this kind of stuff.
