Although most of it's been covered by Dean and everyone else ;) I arrived arround 4:00...no exactly 4:00 on the dot. Felt like so anal :) and then hung out with everyone who was there and we waited and waited and then the call came. Poe's bus was right down stairs. I'm not sure I like heard it but hadn't really hit me for some reason then the knock was at the door and in came the enterage...well if you can call 4 people that. Poe plopped down on the couch between me(on the chair) and Dean and said hi to the too of us. I sat there with my camera in my hand ready to take a picture when she came in but it all happend so fast I really had no idea what to do. Then she got up and hit the sushi as me and Dean sat stairing thining hey that's poe's jacket between us. She then introduced Mark, Peyote Codie, the manager and the cutest bus driver anyone's ever seen(she was a bus driver?) Dean covered most of the stories she told as she signed CD's. One he missed was about how she got into Apocalypse. The producer of the game had heard Angry Johnny on the radio and thought she'd be perfect in the game to play Plague. What he didn't realize hen he told her the part she'd play in the game was that dressing up as the plague for halloween was how she got her name. Well there was a bunch of signing, talked to Mark a little bit, started rambling something about something I was doing and that was just hunting down a programmer to help out for some reason and next thing I knew he asked the entire room. Achem. Totally awkward moment. After my face turned back from red the manager said it was time to go and Poe still was signing cd's stalling for time. She took so much time with everyone at the party, I like dunno what to say. Not like I ever expected some evil woman or anything but didn't expect her to be so awsome and amazing :) Anyways finally it was time to go, and everyone hit the Borders show where she did Poe Karyoke. After the show anyone who didn't get stuff signed was moved to the head of the line and got to go first. Took some pictures, wished Codie wasn't hiding so much behind poe..didn't really get him. Should have them over the weekend. Everything was great, and the AP's were way cool. Peggy through a great party :) Oh and my spelling sucks...sorry :) Matt - ----------------------------------------------------------------- Matt Hyner matt@metagraphical.com http://www.metagraphical.com - ----------------------------------------------------------------- ________________________________________________________ 1stUp.com - Free the Web Get your free Internet access at http://www.1stUp.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 10 Nov 2000 22:42:16 -0500 From: "amato" Subject: ADMIN: HTML Mail, AOL 6.0 & Bouncing messages Hey everyone, Recently I have seen a number of messages coming to the List in HTML format...for those of you that done know...any messages in HTML format gets bounced and doesn't make it to the List. The reason for this is that some subscribers don't have e-mail systems that except HTML message, so for that reason HTML messages have been blocked. A major problem is that it seems that the latest version of AOL (6.0) does not currently have a setting to allow their users to send plan-text. As a result, messages sent from AOL 6.0 will probably bounce. AOL support has been contacted about this. AOL says they are developing a fix for this but they haven't finished it yet and don't know when they will have it available. In the meantime we are trying to find an interim fix. If anyone is experience any problems or has any question...please contact me. Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience. amato ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 10 Nov 2000 23:52:22 EST From: KoriG@aol.com Subject: Re: Favorite song OK, I know this topic is a tad late by list standards, but considering when the album was actually released in its perfect, pristine release, it's still WAY to early to me picking faves. And I am still slowly stepping into it. (Don't want to shock my system too fast, and ruin all the fun right away.) But as it stands, I tend to lean towards "Haunted", and just get the biggest jolt out of "5 1/2 Minute Hallway". (It is SO Beatles. I just love that.) I went to both shows at NYC, the Borders and also the Housing Works shows. Poe was absolutely outstanding!! This is the first time I've ever seen her and I was blown away! She is such a beautiful person, and I'm really looking foward to seeing her on her full blown tour. I was also extremely excited to meet such freindly and cool fellow angry-psychos. (Much love to Kong Gene, Berette, Kathy S, and Sara. And I can't forget Shani for that wonderful thing she did for me. I will never forget that. You guys are some of the coolest people I've met in my life! I'm building a website which should be done by the end of February. I'm dedicating a virtual "room" to Poe, including, pictures, experiences, and links, as well as my own and other's artwork, poetry, and whatever on Poe and other subjects. And you need to realize that Poe is not in charge of this tour. Her record company is. They're paying for it. I can't even imagine how much convincing it took on her part, to convince her label to let her take the tour bus to fans houses. What Poe is doing for her fans is not normal. It's way above and beyond the call of duty. If she couldn't make it to Megan's party then I'm sure Poe had no control of the situation. >> Some of the many great points in your post, Babydoll. Things are VERY tight on a tour. One slight deviation from plans or sudden priorities can throw everything upside down. The artists' are hardly ever in control. If they don't have a label or management-appointed tour manager or rep, then, if the tour is extensive enough, they hire a tour manager themselves -- someone who's JOB it is to act like the cruel jackass father (or mother) and INSIST that the artist must stop signing autographs, talking with fans, whatever and get on the bus and get going. As much as the artist may not like it at the time, (and CERTAINLY much less if the fans there at the moment like it or not,) they know they need to move along, that everything is set to a strict schedule. A half-hour off could screw things up royally. And if the artist decides to defy the rules and do as they wish off the cuff causing further repeated problems, their label can and most likely WILL scold them like they are 5-year-olds. I know Poe is very sorry you are disappointed, but coming to your party could have neccesitated cutting autograph signings short, or making it to the next city in time, or making it to obligations in the next city before the Borders show late, and imagine how many fans would be disappointed then? Megan, you are being rather immature about this. You are a bright, 18-year-old girl. So why are you acting like a whiney 10-year-old brat?? You sound like a child who overemphasized her show-and-tell item too soon and put the weight of the entire world on the matter. You're friends will think you're a liar now?? Everyone will hate you?? People were coming in from out of state JUST for this?? As far as I'm concerned, if Poe is the only reason they are coming to YOUR birthday party, then they aren't true friends and don't deserve to be invited. REAL friends would not hate you because the "entertainment" you had planned for couldn't come. Maybe I'm egotistical, (ok, yeah... I AM egotistical,) but if people come to celebrate my b-day, I want them to be there for ME. Megan, You should have known by now that these parties are not set in stone. Robby has to secure a place to have the party in each city if the schedule PERMITS a party. The tour is going WAY more well than they expected. The numbers of people showing up are off teh charts of their expectations. And the album may een be doing better than the label truly expected, so new obligations in each city are coming up. There's label meetings, wholesale, radio stations that before were saying, "Eh, no thanks" are now throwing out the welcome mat. These are great opportunities to get Poe out there. So please, if you are a true fan, consider what is best for her, what is best for her fans as a whole, and not just for you. Hell, I considered not going to see her because I have the flu. Not because *I* am sick, but because I am afraid I could give HER something! (I know she will want to hug and talk and so forth. I don't think anything will keep her from expressing affection for anyone she wishes to.) It's not like I have a busy schedule. Sure, I hate being sick, but I'm not working right now. I've got time to let it run its course. She, on the other hand, most certainly doesn't! Just calm down and rethink what you initially said.
