Oh yeah, there are. At least me. I live in the SF Bay area, the band's 'home turf' and they are one of my all-time favorites! I've seen them live twice - once on the local stage of a major radio station summer concert, and once at the Fillmore in SF (just a month ago actually, it was a record-release show celebrating their new cd, Art of Drowning). I'm gonna see them again in a month or so when they open for Rancid. (and two days before that I'm gonna see the Aquabats, it's gonna be a GREAT week!) They are VERY good live, one of the best live bands I've EVER seen, especially if they're headlining! Well, just thought I'd put my two cents in. Any AP's who are interested in punk/hardcore music, you can't go wrong with AFI, especially their masterpiece, Black Sails in the Sunset, one of the best albums of all time IMO. And Notajunkie, have fun at the Jacksonville show! =) - --phil _______________________________________________________ Say Bye to Slow Internet! http://www.home.com/xinbox/signup.html ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 07 Nov 2000 09:00:37 -0500 From: Matthew Hyner Subject: Not So New Psycho Well don't think I've ever done this...or at least not since the last time I signed up when Hello came out Name: Matt Hyner Location: Fairfax, VA Years: 26 First Heard Poe: First heard about her on like NBC news or something...they were making some stink about her having this first song about the internet and whatever. I was pretty much totally into classic rock at that time, she's the one who broke me out. Favorite. Poe song: HAH! And the good news is, the part of the tour I'm catching them on, is without Rancid, so they are headling that date! I totally agree that "Black Sails in the Sunset" is a bonifide masterpiece. I recommend it to ANYONE that is into Punk it is a wonderful album..... Also, if you saw, "Me, Myself, and Irene" you'd probally heard the Offsprings cover of "Totalimmortal" on the closing credits. Poe was sooo down to earth and really cool, i recommend everyone see her if they can. i had a lot of stuff for her to sign and she did liners for my college radio station. and she didn't mind at all taking the time to do that stuff for me. she is #1 in my book!!! and the first thing that she said was, "we are so glad to have an angry psycho in the front row" (that was me!!). well anyway, that 's all for now, if there are any questions/comments, mail me! It's awesome how many new fans POE is getting due to the new album, and that the media is paying at least *some* attention to it. Albeit, Dawson's Creek is not the greatest place for it ((IMHO)), but they have a habit of showcasing new or relatively unknown artists. And it's a lot better than nothing. I've noticed that *a lot* of new AP's have signed up recently, and a lot of people I've talked to remember 'Angry Johnny' and then they hear mention of a new album, and are like, "hey, I remember her," and buy the new album or dl some mp3's. So, despite many objections for a five-year wait for the new album, perhaps this *was* the right time for 'Haunted' to be released.
