Besides even if I could, I don't have a way of digitizing it or compressing it for the web. Kudos to those going, I've made up the Laminates. I may or may not have an angry psychos shirt on so to pick me out of a crowd, I'm 6'4", with almost shoulder length brown hair, glasses, medium gage facial hair, black shoes, and if its cold a heavy black coat. Left work for a "cardiologist appointment" (sHH!! dont tell!) and got to the borders store. I walk in and BOOM there's poe talking to some fans. Anyways i have to make this a short review since i am now back at work. Her and her brother came out along with her DJ, they talked a bit about their father and the connection in their work. She talked about how when she found the tapes, in one instance she heard his voice sound very caring and sweet, which she didnt often hear in that manner. She said this brought out a feeling of anger in her, and she wrote control based on that. So she sang Control, "poe kareoke" style. They talked a bit more, her brother read from House of Leaves. She sang 5 and 1/2 minute hallway and Spanish Doll. They both talked a bit more, then she spoke more about her father and started crying, then sang "If You were here" and quite a few people we crying, including her. House of Leaves was quoted a bit more, and then Poe and her brother did kind of a duet on Hey Pretty...he read from the book over the verses and she sang the chorus. Quite a nice turn out too, i think there were about 6 or 7 psychos there. Anyways i didnt have time to stay for the signing, guess i'll just have to do it tonight at 7pm :-) ~ Steve ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 03 Nov 2000 13:54:37 -0600 From: Levi Chronister Subject: About me I joined, and here's who I am: 1) My name's Levi Chronister 2) I live in Lawrence, KS, but didn't move here until after Poe's barrage of shows in 1996 :-( 3) I'm 21 4) I bought Hello after seeing the premiere of Trigger Happy Jack on 120 Minutes; been hooked ever since. 5) I also really like Beth Orton, Super Furry Animals, Black Box Recorder, Tool, Dot Allison, Arab Strap, Self, PJ Harvey, Manic Street Preachers, Alabama 3, Aphex Twin, Tortoise, The Sea and Cake, Radiohead, Remy Zero, Sleater-Kinney and Steely Dan. The clips after Spanish Doll, especially Poe's parents singing "Dominique" are probably the creepiest things I've ever heard (that being a good thing). I picked up Erik from Greyhound in Cleveland...i showed up an hour early cuz i'm a moron and forgot to turn back my clock We came home, took care of some pre-party preparations...and drove to Borders The Borders show was awesome, which goes w/o saying. On the way, we realized there was a small glitch in the directions i had made for everyone...So we decided to change them... While all this was going on, my mom and dad graciously took time out of their day to prepare food and set up chairs in my apartment. So the show ends, and I madly begin to change maps and directions... and i get paged over the loudspeaker...so I run to the information desk, and answer some questions from Poe's manager Mark...i hand a very unwilling Erik a bunch of maps and tell him to start revising...meanwhile Ap's are coming to me and asking questions, and stuff...and then my best friend Jay tells me he wants a poster... So i go and haggle the Borders people for a map, and Cody (Poe's DJ) snags me one off the wall. So I end up with the poster...cuz hahahha...i just wanted it more than Jay So finally we decide we gotta get going, so I run over to the signing table and hand a bunch of maps to Poe and tell her to invite whomever she wants to come to her party. (Unbeknownst to me, she decided to stand on a chair and tell people there is a party and she'll be there and to come get maps) Soooo...Erik and I trek home...yeah and we get lost about...oh...3 times... And I flip, cuz i know everyone else is gonna get lost cuz once again i F***ed up on the maps/directions. So I'm having a coronary, adn we get home, my parents are freaking cuz they don't know why i am freaking out. We call Poe's manager and explain the situation, call TGIFriday's where the AP's were supposedly going to get something to eat...but apparently they weren't there, and now the staff at the Westlake TGIFriday's hate me...cuz i made them page Jim Myers and Ed Hunsinger about 500 times. Yeah so apparently my directions were not as bad as I feared, and most of the people, i think, made it... Poe's bus was not so lucky...We formed a "team" (myself and the Atlantic rep) to help Poe's bus driver navigate thru the wonders of Cleveland's suburbs (i think she will prolly kill me if she ever sees me again) So anyway...Finally I end up driving out to get the bus, and herd it to my home. We park the bus in the street, Poe is there...and I can finally relax...RIGHT! So anyway, the party was a blast, lots of hugs, pictures, autographs, beer, wine, etc. Poe's manager Mark musta been really stressed, cuz he drank about 3/4 a bottle of champagne...Poe got on my puter and went into #poe to chat... Finally the Poe camp had to go catch a plane...so they took off...AP's new and old began to dwindle out the door...and I began to clean. I wanna say a few things...1st of all To all the people who came, THANK YOU for coming, and being kewl (and clean)!!! 2nd my parents stayed thru most of the party, and they were totally kewl, and actually seemed to fit in 3rd To all the people who didn't drink cuz there were "parental units" present, HAHAHAH u coulda drank!!! my parents didn't care ok...i think i'm done... OH THERE IS A VIDEO DOCUMENTARY in the works...lol... If Poe ever has to do a Behind the Music 30 yrs from now...we got the video! ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 3 Nov 2000 17:54:21 -0800 (PST) From: "J.R.
