Nearly five years later, Poe is back with Haunted, a sophomore effort musically more diverse than its predecessor and possessing a value-added bonus: increased lyrical intimacy. Recording entirely on her computer using sophisticated audio software, Poe has polished her haunting musical signatures while effectively spiking most tracks with her biting and heartfelt wordplay. The soaring, infectious title track -- steeped in ethereal guitar, driving bass and a sultry chorus -- is a pop near masterpiece. Many of Haunted's songs, in fact, showcase an artist whose brawny knack for stylish songwriting is outshined only by her smoky, smooth vocal delivery. Well worth the wait.
