Hello U PsYcHoS, a few of you, friend and foe, are aware via private communication, that for some time now, I have vowed that with the release of the next CD I would distance myself from conflict on this list. Short of leaving the list I have been a bit baffled as to how I might accomplish this. If someone or group is willing to manipulate multiple mail accounts, AP accounts, and web pages, just to create a bit of turmoil on this list, during what has been an otherwise peaceful period, I see little reason to expect better once the next CD is released. What has just passed was apparently a warm up. In a sense, I guess I am a bit flattered that it takes either multiple individuals, or personalities to shuffle around enough digits to actually cause a ripple. If you move far from the center, the ripple gets to you late, or not at all. While I have been a fan of bands, in this case, I am a fan of POE, the lady. While I hardly can say I know her, I know she treated her fans, myself included, pretty damn well last tour. So beyond how excellent I think her music is, I just found her to be by most reports and in person a very class act, and I admire her greatly for that. It's POE's party, I won't have it said that I rained on it, I'm unsubscribing from the rapid fire of the regular AP list, and moving to the mellow pace of the digest where I can glean the PR info I want. To those special few of you who wrote to tell me to ignore the ugliness and it will go away, thanks for the advice, I'm looking forward to seeing your pretty new world, please write about it when it materializes. Lessee...my short list is ten: 1. Homer (both the "Iliad" and the "Odyssey") 2. Nikos Kazantzakis (author of "Zorba the Greek" and "The Last Temptation of Christ", though nearly everything he wrote is beyond merely brilliant) 3. Herman Melville (as much for "Pierre" as for "Moby Dick") 4. Lawrence Durrell (The Alexandria Quartet: "Justine", "Balthazar", "Mountolive" and "Clea"--utterly breathtaking, and with more twists and turns than a canyon road!) 5. Amos Tutuola (this Nigerian novelist I can best describe as "darkly sparkling"--his tales are full of magic and adventure, and are among the most imaginative fiction you will ever read: he wrote "My Life in the Bush of Ghosts", "The Palm-Wine Drinkard", "Feather Woman of the Jungle" and many others.) 6. John Gardner (read "Beowulf", then read Gardner's "Grendel") 7. Marcel Pagnol (watch the movies AND read the books: "Jean de Florette" and "Manon of the Springs" will stick to your ribs...Pagnol also wrote "My Father's Glory" and "My Mother's Castle") 8. John Berger (the Into Their Labors trilogy: "Pig Earth", "Once in Europa", and "Lilac and Flag") 9. Anais Nin (great sex from a woman's perspective!--all we guys have a lot to learn!) 10. James Joyce (yeah, he's hard...but well worth the effort; to acclimatize yourself, rent the movie "James Joyce's Women", then ease yourself in with "The Dubliners", then "Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man", then take off a couple of years and give yourself time for "Ulysses"...."Finnegan's Wake"?--still scares the shit out of me--maybe sometime before I die!) Additionally, most anything by Kant, Beckett and Hegel is worth reading. :) - -Laurie _____________________________________________ Free email with personality! This worm arrives in emails with a variety of titles, including Jokes Text or Funny, and always arrives as an attachment. Reports of the virus payload vary, but so far, it seems that the worm opens a Notepad document, then runs a script in the background. The script then sends itself to everyone in your Microsoft Outlook address book. To protect yourself, delete any suspicious attachments immediately and update your antivirus definitions. I think the most notable thing it does though, is prevent viruses from accessing your address book and sending out a bunch of emails without your knowledge.. - ----- Original Message ----- From: Dark Cloak To: Marie Lynn ; ; Angry Psychos ; Everett and Celie Richard Sent: Monday, June 19, 2000 3:31 PM Subject: Virus Alert: Life_Stages Worm > > A new virus titled LIFE_STAGES.TXT.SHS is spreading via Microsoft Outlook, ICQ, mIRC, and PIRCH.
