The subject is "Resume - Janet Simons," and the text reads: To: Director of Sales/Marketing, Attached is my resume with a list of references contained within. Please feel free to call or email me if you have any further questions regarding my experience. I am looking forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, Janet Simons. Attached to the document is a file named RESUME1.DOC, Explorer.doc, or NORMAL.DOT. Open that file, and you can say goodbye to your hard drive. Prevention This one's easy to stop once you know what it looks like. If you get any emails with the "Resume - Janet Simons" subject line, don't open it. And if you do open it, make sure you don't open the attachment. How the W97M.Melissa.BG works Killer Resume is a Microsoft Word macro. When you open the attachment, it opens in Word, which executes the macro. It sends itself to everyone in your Outlook address book, and makes copies of itself in the following locations: C:\Data\Normal.dot C:\WINDOWS\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp\Explorer.doc It then deletes just about everything on your hard drive and any other local drives it can find, including necessary system files.
