Isn't Fred Durst VP of Interscope and Bad Boy? They did it all for the publicity. I think Metallica is getting fed a one-sided view from the lawyers and RIAA. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 25 May 2000 16:49:01 EDT From: KrodKnid@aol.com Subject: Re: NPR - Napster and Metallica In a message dated 5/25/2000 2:18:30 PM Eastern Daylight Time, LJRJAWS@aol.com writes: << While I fully understand where Metallica is coming from, I think it a little late to be complaining about it...if it was such a big deal, mp3s should have been outlawed to begin with... It was not just Napster; I've been making trips to the local library, checking out a bunch of CDs, mainly Dead Can Dance/Lisa Gerrard and Autechre. I definitely enjoyed Lisa Gerrard/DCD, and I have burned those. Nonetheless, I've felt that I was exploiting those artists whose albums I burn, and that I ought to have bought those albums instead. Mind you, DCD/Lisa Gerrard are/is not on a similar level financially as say, Metallica, whose records I have yet to burn and probably won't since I've owned them for a long time (on a tangent, I have probably 30 Metallica mp3s - -- I still own all their albums, no matter how bad). So, do any of you have opinions or ideas about how I can soothe my conscience? Lee "Do your dreams come true?" Apologize for "stealing" their music and offer footrubs after the show.
