While I was at the "Lilac Fest" here in Rochester, I stopped by the http://wber.monroe.edu promotion booth to say hello, and I got into a conversation with station Manager Joey G. He asked me about comments I made the week prior on the stations live radio show "Rant" where I stated that the new POE CD would be out July 11th, that it was based on the novel by her brother, but with all the details, his name , the web sites for Poe and Mark, where to buy the book locally. Well Joey G. says " I just had a meeting with the record company execs two weeks ago and asked them specifically about POE and they said they were unaware of any July date for a new CD, now why would they tell me that " I said to him, "maybe it is because I keep telling them that you call her "Benedict POE", maybe they don't like you know more" . Poe may have been away for a bit, but she is definitely a hot topic around here. sp00k etc ... > > I'm wondering if anyone else is bothered by this. [as most of you know already - i work in music retail] i know my atlantic rep pretty well... he was around when "hello" came out... he knows i'm "the biggest poe supporter in the region"... and he has promised me his advance copy as soon as he gets it. i know he would send me a single even.. but i have seen/heard nothin yet. i saw him last weekend and there was no mention of poe. but i can promise you all this... [if in fact the release date still is july 11], we will start seeing things happen soon. i predict within the next 2 weeks. i mean, come on... we don't even know what the first single is! One led me to the RockGrl magazine website so I could buy the current issue with a Lunachicks interview in it. While scrolling down to order, I spotted the name that always makes my heart skip a beat. They have the Jan/Feb 1997 issue with Poe gracing the cover available for order by credit card on the site for $5. Lots of programming and mixing, where as all of Tool is very raw. I guess it kind of annoys me that one most songs one guy did the bass, then went over it again for guitar. But, I agree, its a good listen. Also, the first fifty copies at every Best Buy are supposed to have a free two track live CD with them, but when I got there an hour past opening time this morning, my friend and I scooped up the last three. The girl at the checkout said that for some reason they only got 16 of them, and I whipped out the advirtisement which said 60 which I happened to have in my pocket, and got a free $15 credit. My friends just call me Mad, or Hatter so feel free to do the same. I am from Roseburg, Oregon and am 21 yrs old. I first heard POE on the Great Expectations soundtrack, and I know I was onto something good. As for other musicians......I like too many to name them. Styles on the other hand. I like pretty much most styles. Don't really care for Country but I tolerate it. My favored styles are rock (alternative, classic, new), metal, and rap-reggae. And example of rap-reggae would be 311 and Sublime. I don't really have anything interesting to tell you about. I used to be a college student and plan to go back next year hopefully. In the mean time, I am working 2 jobs and trying to buy another car.
