Well, it seems the mention of a book discussion on #poe on irc.us.dal.net in another thread (one of those NPR ones) was enough to get two AP's who had never visited before and a few that were already registered ops on the channel to show up for an interesting evening of POE related chat. A very odd visitor.... and seems like we been getting them on a more frequent basis that past few weeks, was a guy who wanted to hire POE to play at his wedding.... I said I heard it might cost 20,000 or more, I'm expecting he will join the list at some point. This was the week of the annual "Lilac Festival" here in rainchester ny.... The last event Poe played here, in 1997. Turns out that the highlight of the week as far as drawing crowds, was the free concert put on by http://wber.monroe.edu featuring the band "Splashdown" I almost didn't go, and am quite glad that I did, they ruled. However the reason I mention it is because anybody that has anything to do with producing and marketing Poe ought to have a listen to the weekly talk show "Rant" 5pm east today, on WBER and listen to the rave reviews they are going to get for sponsoring this show that drew more than 4,000 CD buying listeners on a 50 degree Sunday nite (6pm) for a fairly new act. There is at least one op this summer for Poe to play at Highland Bowl.... keep your ears tuned...... sp00k etc ... - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - ----------------------------------------- Hear What I Hear ? http://wber.monroe.edu/live.ram 80K Feed ? http://wber.monroe.edu/live2.ram See What I See ? http://Go.To/Fairport Want To Chat About It ? http://Webzone.Dal.Net/ Another POE Place... http://Back.To/Poe ------------------------------ Date: 22 May 00 11:27:31 PDT From: sam stark Subject: PR: Atlantic Records Being the impatient person that I am, I always like to know what the hell is going on immediately. I know that Jarrod & Co. are keeping us in suspense on the poe.org site, and I can live with that. What troubles me is that Atlantic, which I believe is still Poe's label, has no new info posted on their site, at least none that I could find. I'm wondering if anyone else is bothered by this. It seems to me that a record company with a gold/platinum-selling artist(whichever it was)would want to start the promotional hubbub pretty early. Atlantic has a history of letting go of good bands, and I'd hate to see Poe get dropped because Atlantic didn't push the record out there. Since it has been five loooooong years of bleak drudgery (had to put that there in case Poe reads it- not that I would dream of giving her a guilt trip), I just hope the upper muckety-mucks at Atlantic will get off their asses so Poe gets the recognition due her.
