Wanted to let you all know that the new CD by NYC's The Dan Emery Mystery Band is coming out at last, and the bulk of it was produced by Nathan Rosenberg, who has a gold record for his work with Poe. He's not the kind of producer an independent label and a young breaking band can ordinarily afford, but he totally got into this music and helped make the record rock. The CD is called "Natural Selection" and will be in stores in late May. I'm not going to get all promo on you here; if you're curious about the Mystery Band, visit our pages at http://www.web-ho.com (or look for me on Napster, I frequent mynapster.com during the week). New Yorkers over 16, the CD release show is this Saturday, May 6th at CB's Gallery (313 Bowery at Bleecker), $7 cover but you'll get a ticket to buy the CD for $5, which makes it a cool bargain. There are some GREAT bands playing on the bill, including Saint Low, which is the new band from Mary Lorson (who was the singer for Madder Rose). Curious about songs called "Student Loan," "Her Favorite Bra," "Mustard," "I'm Not Being Very Good to My Girl" and "Aperock.com"? You should be. It's great stuff. Ain't that life on the Internet. If you'd like to sample the Dan Emery Mystery Band tracks on Napster, I'm currently on imperialfleet.com on the Opennap network (you need Napigator to get there). Please note that I'm firewalled. OK, back to the usual. The episode is called "Fight Club", and contains footage from two mock wrestling matches. They had free admission to the arena (the Grand Olympic Auditorium in L.A.) and I flew there from Milwaukee to see it! Anyway, most of you don't know what I look like, but you'll at least know that I'm in the crowd. If I am in a scene or two, I'll be putting it up at http://www.jasonforpresident.com next week. But either way, I definitely plan on putting some photos I took of the set there, hopefully this weekend. For those of you who are still reading, there are two fights. The first (I think) is between two women, where the action was actually outside the arena. The main fight is actually near the end of the episode (between a guy in red, and a guy in black). I may actually be in several different angles. There were about 100-200 of us in attendence, so the moved us around (depending on the angle they were filming). Anyway, the most promising shot is where Scully brings "Prison Bert" out during the wrestling match. I was just to the left (according to the TV) of the entrance. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 5 May 2000 18:56:50 -0400 From: "Kelly Lesperance" Subject: NPR: RE: POE's Producer and the Dan Emery Mystery Band > Hi Psychos - > > Quiet psycho Linus here, delurking for a moment.
