The only thing I want to talk about is that, "Something to bring ap's into the 21st century," part, Why does everything have to be related to the 21st century now? Its the same with the whole millenum thing that happened before New Years. I mean, its just another year, just another day. I don't get it. Why make such a big fuss over just another day. The world did not end on Jaunary 1, nor will us being in the 21st century ultimatly change anything. Childern are still starving all over the world, There are still race crimes, stereotypes, corruption, and all sorts of other injustices. On January 1st, 2000, nothing changed. And its going to be the same thing on the next New Years day, nothing will change. The world will stay the same. Still the same problems. So, back to my point, Why make such a big deal about it? If none of the major issues of the world today are going to change, why should we feel the need to change anything else, for the sake of just another day, just another year? - -Darkcloak - --- Chris Nalesnik wrote: > >Wow, I've seen a bunch of jerkass punks in my time... OK not to throw gas on the above fire, but I guess I get a bit confused, or I live in denial, cause I guess I been around here for 3 or more years not 2 or more, and when you have been here that long, or longer, some of us are seeing your suggestion for the second, third, whatever time, and the reaction is similar. NOBODY mentioned, including the people who belong to it, (tho they have posted recently) that there is a "Poes Angry-Psychos" on YAHOO!! http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/poesangrypyschos That sounds somthing like what you described/ l00ks like sumthin you described, I viewd it and joined. I have #poe and #angry-psychos registerd on irc.us.dal.net it is SLOW for obvious reasons, but if you hang out and do other things, people do stop by somtimes AP's, but it's always great to meet people who are not AP's and send them off to www.poe.org I have tried over the last few years to migrate people to IRC from web chat, and to that end I recently added an IRC Help Page at my web site http://geocities.com/sirsp00k I have also recently registerd #poe and #angry-psychos at www.webchat.org as I have found a Java based chat program that accepts ALL the normal IRC commands. Trying to enter that way SUX. If you are looking for POE chat and or a chance to migrate from the very limited world of web based chat to chat networks featuring 25,000 "rooms" that are very fast to navigate, and that will NOT slow your computer down as web chats do, so come and learn to use mIRC also. SEE THIS LINE? Learn to use IRC!!!!!!!!! http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Lounge/1971/poechat.html Again so there is no confusion, the above link will take you to a page with a guide to IRC and a Java based IRC style chat. You will also find links for IRC commands and software. I have not updated my page since I first made it, so it is a mess, but will see a MAJOR overhaul over the next week. Look for a much imporved page with an emphasis of keeping POE's modem connected, whenever or wherever she mite want to travle the net, music links etc.... I think MANY of you will find it very helpful as a site for resources..... when I am done that is, very SOON. > Is it necessary to hide all aspects of friendliness here? I thought the whole idea of ap's was to band together. I recently perhaps chided becky for not having her finger on the pulse of the list, especialy as an "old timer" (much longer than me as many are) who mite provide an alternative voice to mine when LOTS of people are telling me they don't like what is going on with the list. So perhaps I started a little somthing there, the main thing becky and I talked about is how the AP thing was VERY "AP Family" in 96 during the rochester show/tour. > > And as far as sp00k's suggestion goes... AP Related: The State of the AP/ POE CLUBS / ETC.... ! With all the talk about state of the list, Poe, and with Jarrod's refreshingly cool philosophical post, I thought I'd mention this... There's been a few sleepless nights over the last week or two that I happened to pop in an AP tape from summer of 1997. I haven't seen them in over a year, so it was a refreshing trip down memory lane. The first was from the West Coast AP Poefest (Aug, 1997). The second from the concert in SLC (June, 1997). It brought back a lot of good memories from one of my best summers to date. I took three Poe/AP trips that summer. I know some of you took a lot more. Anyway, I'm not sure what my point is, but this may be it coming up. The tone of the tapes was that we'd probably be getting together again the following summer (1998), or shortly thereafter. Well, almost three years has passed, and we have yet to receive some Poe-related motivation to have a get together. All the more reason to stick together, and forget about all the stupid stuff that we read on our screens. Because when we do see each other again, or for the first time, it will be one helluva good time. I've had three already. I claim partial ownership of a big Blue Chevy Astro. It is in no way legally mine, but it's comfy, secure, my main way of getting around, I lost my virginity in it, it's my ride to school, and I have lots of good memories about it. - -Shawn - ----Original Message Follows---- From: brian michaud To: angry-psychos@smoe.org Subject: NPR: cars Date: Tue, 08 Feb 2000 12:29:50 -0700 what kind of car does everyone drive out there? ~brian ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 9 Feb 2000 20:05:08 EST From: Coldpoptarts@aol.com Subject: Re: NPR: cars i got a 98 jeep wrangler it's my baby i'd be lost w/out it cause my b/f is a loser and can't get his license till he is 18 megs ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 10 Feb 2000 01:12:20 GMT From: "Me :-Þ" Subject: Re: NPR: cars Well, when I can drive, I will drive a white Honda CRV, but I'll always dream of that beautiful BMW Z3 ... in silver ... *sigh* American culture. -Rebecca ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 09 Feb 2000 20:23:44 -0500 From: Ed Hunsinger Subject: RE: NPR: cars >===== Original Message From KrodKnid@aol.com ===== >In a message dated 2/9/2000 2:32:55 AM Eastern Standard Time, >scott599@uswest.net writes: > ><< what kind of car does everyone drive out there? > ~brian > >> >A 1987 Lincoln Town Car...............black on black, and known as the >"Gothmobile". My mom and both of my older brothers have used it for about 3 years each, and at long last it's my turn! :D That car's broken down more than any other car I've ever heard of, the upholstery is coming off at numerous holes, the paint is pretty much ruined from my brothers's negligence with regard to washing it. There is also a giant dent in it in the side from when my uncle backed into it at about 20 mph with a 4-runner. Lots of the plastic and metal paneling inside and out has fallen out, the radio and a/c/heat are inoperable, and I must say, it's probably the coolest damned car I've ever been in! If you just want to tell me what a bitch/whiner/brat/whatever I am, save the hate mail PLEASE. I'm tired of it and you really didnt have to read this. It's actually not that bad, it has personality, you know?
