Hello, over the next couple of weeks I will be trying to install Linux on an IBM PS/2 77 DX2/486 that currently has 8mb ram, 1GB SCSI HDD, 1.44/2.88 FDD . I have another 24mb of ram due to arrive by mail this week, and stumbled onto the fact that you supposedly need a "Reference Disk" and a "Diagnostic Disk" in order to be able to install the additional ram, I have obtained both programs but will try the plug and pray method first. I have found the "ibmmca.s" kernel, and have considered trying to install "ZipSlack" as it is only a 39mb download. I am rather uncertain about the partition issues raised in the FAQ if you are familiar with partition issues or Linux and could lend an ear/advice, I would appreciate it. I also looked at "BigSlack" and do have the 800mb of space it needs, but doubt I will need all that it has to offer, but am open to suggestions. ftp://ftp.cdrom.com/pub/linux/slackware/zipslack/ Thanx sp00k etc ... ------------------------------ End of angry-psychos-digest V4 #320 ***********************************
