I wish I had saved all the emails that were flying around awhile back, cuas enow it looks like I'm going to London.. :) I'm booking the non-refundable tickets tonight for Spring Break ($235 roundtrip!!! :) Anyways, for all you people that have been to London, know which bars have the better alcohol, etc. I'm looking for some tips, advice, things to see/do, cause I've never been to London, let alone Europe. Two specific questions I do have are: Just how close is Amsterdam? and How difficult/expensive/stressful would it be to try to hit Paris for a day or two? One of the people I'm going with keeps tellking me that she's always wanted to go to Paris. We're going to be staying in hostels and whatnot, and we got International Student Identity Cards which apparently are recognized around the world and get us discounts cause we're college students, but I'm looking for things to do in London for not too much $$$, you know, the not so tourist-y fun things to do. We're definitely hitting a few raves.. that's without question.. :) The scene over there is incredible from what I've heard.. Anyways, I'm rambling.. in short, if you've been to London and/or Paris and have any advice, drop me a line.. :) And Jarrod, unfortunately I won't be able to divert this flight to crash at your place, maybe on my way out to Cali one of these days.. :) *Ed goes back to eating his apple sauce oh so carefully to avoid hurting his newly pierced tongue.* (Anyone ever wanted to see how much a tongue can swell in one day? hehe I guess I'll have to get a pic of this piercing up on my website too, eh? :) ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 23 Oct 1999 00:35:11 EDT From: PyroShwee@aol.com Subject: Re: NPR: London Paris absolutly sucks... the building are pretty, but the subways are nasty, they'll mow you over in a second, steal your wallet/money (i should know, I got robbed) and Jim Morrisons grave isnt what its made out to be--they changed the head stone on it so now it looks like a regular tombstone rather than a cement thing of his head...and they hate Americans. The Eiffel tower was kinda cool though, but I wouldnt go for more than a day. London is awesome-- the best club to go to is called the Hypodrome and it's at Picadilly Circus (which was in Austin Powers 2, hell yeah) and there's some more clubs there-- thats where most of the clubs are.. we went to one called club Equinox, but the Hypodrome is one of the top 3 discoteques to go to in the world. Green Park is awesome, and the tubes (subways) are cool and safe.. Its almost impossible to find something cheap there though-- Burger King was 4 pounds, which is like more than 6 bucks here.. I spent over $1000 in seven days and I didnt shop that much at all.. Paris is shit though.. its not what its cracked up to be at all, I would go by the chunnel for a day if I was forced to go again.. I love big cities, but I hated Paris..a lot of people say that the only difference between Paris and New York is that in Paris you cant understand the people when they tell you to go fuck yourself.. (pardon my french). But London rocked... and all the alcohol is good--especially the ones the Swedish bartender made for us in the Forum hotel.. and the Jack The Ripper tour was definitely worth seeing.. Im going back to London for graduation this summer with some friends and I think we might be going to Spain, Austria, and Italy too... Anyone know of any good places to go in those 3 places?
