I hardly ever post anymore because I know that chances are any opinion I put out about any band or singer will get attacked by him. I think that his comments taint the original idea of this list, which is to share information about Poe and other singers without having to worry about being criticized for your individual views. I respect Xeno's opinions and I think it's about time he did everyone else the same courtesy. Xeno, there are much more polite and less biting ways to discuss music with people, maybe you should try some. Maybe this is just me, but I would like your opinions on this. Xeno, I'm sure that you are going to attack me and call me stupid for this letter but I want you to know that your comments don't hurt me and if you do send me a malicious e-mail in response to this one, you will only look weaker for it. -Gabrielle _______________________________________________________________ Get Free Email and Do More On The Web. Who the hell cares if a band is popular or not? You like them for their music right? Not the cute lead singer I hope. A lot of "mainstream" music is good. I'm not so sure of the complete definition of mainstream, but I figure it is anything that is popular or well liked. Some may call BSB mainstream because they are popular, but if a band like, say Radiohead, were to sell millions of albums, and have a huge fan following, they wouldn't be mainstream, because the "alternative" people like Radiohead [note: RH is a very good band - I'm saying nothing against them or their fans!] even though the are still "popular" as far as sales, ratings, and fans are concerned. Now obvioulsy there is a big difference in talent between BSB and Radiohead (okay, EXTREME difference) but like Xeno said, everyone wants to scream their indepence and unique-ness. By saying "oh they are so mainstream and my bands are totally so underground and cool", you're simply saying "i'm too cool to conform to that, but I'll conform to this". Even a nonconformist must conform to something. It's inevitable. Say you just heard a band for the first time ever at a friend's house. You get addicted and track down every single recording from this band you can get your hands on. This band was like, made for you. A few months later, you see them on MTV, Jay Leno, Rolling Stone Mag, and the top 40. God forbid, maybe even TRL. Does this mean you're not going to like them anymore for being "mainstream"? How stupid. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 3 Aug 1999 16:24:29 -0700 From: tara Subject: concerts has any one here ever seen Poe in concert? or been to any cool concerts lately? i saw hole in may, if anyone wants to know about it just ask :)and if u dont like hole ignore this! well thats it, just trying to get some happy posting going. laterz tara IM: shimmerfey faerie page: www.geocities.com/Area51/Orion/1115 *And blessed are the broken* - --Hole *It gets so hard, just to be okay* - --Bikini Kill ______________________________________________________ Get your free web-based email at http://www.xoom.com Birthday?
