I don't know about the rest of you, but it seems like Xeno may be getting just a little bit desperate in the insult category. All of a sudden, I find him attacking my age, intelligence, and even weight. Yes, I'm 14 years old. So if I am just a 'stupid kid', then why did Xeno take so much offense at what I said? And why did he even take the time to write such a long e-mail if he didn't feel threatened by mine? Second, my IQ is 148 and I am enrolled in 5 AP courses for the upcoming school year. I have been in my school's talented and gifted programs since kindergarten. I scored a 1460 on my SATs....in the seventh grade. Finally, I am 5'8" and 120 lbs. so I would hardly say that the 'pig girl' statement was justified. And what does any of that have to do with Limp Bizkit? Yes, I acknowledge the fact that they paid a radio station a few years ago to play their song so that the fans could hear them on the radio. >> ::clapping:: I'm just so marvelously happy for you!! Now, when will you be be winning that beauty pageant and saving all the innocent down-trodden puppies of the world? I'm sure I'm just DYING to know... Am I alone? Does anyone else not give a flying fuck as to how popular Limp Bizkit is? Sure, an occasional foray into sheer drivel is amusing, but please, do you people with your little skirmish actually think the rest of us give a rat's ass what your opinion is on these matters? This is a Poe list. I have an intense love for her music and that is why I joined this list. I like to discover new facts about the things I love. If I gave a shit about another band, I'd look for a mailing list about them. In fact, I have; now would you please do the same? I do not bore you with my IQ, age, measurements, or pathetic attempt at self-aggrandizement, I would be so grateful if you'd do the same. I don't give a fuck how old you are, you'd annoy me if you were 87. So please, SHUT UP! And feel free to flame me back all you want, I've developed the marvelous abilities of self-control and ignoring that which bugs me. It's just when you eat up my bandwidth and mailbox room that I get a little pissy. (And please, don't be so arrogant as to think this was aimed at anyone person. It is aimed at all who talk incessently about Limp Bizkit, Nick Cave, and especially all those who quote page long messages to simply add the bullshit "Me too" or the equivalent thereof. Learn to edit and maybe, just maybe, someone might give your anemic thoughts actual consideration.) Looking forward to either Poe's new album, or the moment when stupidity turns fatal... Either of which will bring great rejoicing. (gee, hope I don't sound _too_ bitter...) sammael - Camesegal@aol.com Do I LOOK like a fucking people person?!?! ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 23 Jun 1999 11:35:57 EDT From: CrzyDimund@aol.com Subject: NPR: what's the deal with you guys anyway? Okay this is going to sound like a really mean email, but too bad. I never posted much until the past few weeks simply because of the hostility everyone on this list shows each other. And this is not directed at any one person, because there really are some nice people out there, but not very many. First of all, do any of you remember back at Christmas time when someone may have wished everyone on the list a happy holiday? I didn't see anyone getting defensive and flamish when you were attacking Christians. You were all ready to wave your opinions like a flag and never give a second thought to any one else. Someone being nice and thoughtful turned into an evil bible thumper just because they aren't following the newest trendy religions of these times. So why do you get so frothy and angry when Xeno posted a simple comment about a band? We all should know by now that not everyone on this list likes the same music. When I first joined this list, I was afraid to post my favorite bands, in fear of being outcast for not agreeing with the majority. This list loves to talk about "oh that's your opinion, it's okay" and "oh I don't care what anyone else thinks" but you know that's a crock. There are a select portion of listees who are all nice a sweet to each other and when someone outside of their circle posts, watch out! You were so upset by Xeno's post for 2 reasons. #1 You don't like Xeno. Xeno has caused uproar on the list before, therefore he/she is automatically dubbed "evil." Just because a few people were upset by Xeno in the past, the name instantly makes everyone else cringe. #2 Limp Bizkit is not really that great. Granted they can make music better that I could ever dream of, but basically they're like a 5 out of 10. If it wasn't for MTV, they would not have half the fans they do now. It's called a trend, and I realize there may be a few true fans, but most of them are people who are brainwashed by their peers to listen to the "cool" bands. Korn and Marilyn Manson are only going to be so "cool" until someone new and scarier comes along. Lastly, I'd like to apologize for stepping on any toes. Since I'm not one of the "cool" people on this list, I guess it doesn't really matter. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 23 Jun 1999 12:04:03 -0400 From: Ed Hunsinger Subject: Re: The 'Mighty' Xeno getting desperate? Ive heard his stuff over the past few years before he got big, because my spanish teacher is obsessed with him, and his spanish stuff is really good.. As for Robbie Williams, Ive heard that one song out a few times, and its not that bad.. it's all a matter of one's opinion, but he is from England, so he's pretty cool in my book just for that.. Im jealous... And I think if I removed myself from the radio and tv and sat in the woods or whatever, Id go insane and still like the music I like now. Why? because I like it and it fits my taste in music. Its all a matter of one's opinion and taste.. I listen to mostly rap, I cant stand most slow music with acoustics..(unless its sarah mcl) its just not me, but it could be someone else's favourite type.. I swear that song is like musical crack! I actually burned a cd with it on there (a cd of techno and massive attack and then the one RObbie WIlliams song) I think it's the James Bond rift that gets me. As to whether music sucks or not, remove yourself from the tv and the radio for a few months, take off your clothes, and then see what kind of music you end up listening to, cause you're going to listen to it cause you like it. Although, I will admit I've heard way too much Grateful Dead in the past two months, and not enough techno.. damn hippies... On another note, oh wait nevermind, Jesse will cause way too much discussion on this list, and there's already enough lately.. I"ll save it for a couple of weeks when the list dies down again. :) >> ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 23 Jun 1999 23:07:01 EDT From: PyroShwee@aol.com Subject: La Vida Loca and BTW, what makes Michael Stipe or Eddie Vedder, Billy Corgan, etc..more important than Ricky Martin? La vida loca is the correct use of the phrase whether a male or female is saying it.. because la vida is a feminine word life has to be said as loca instead of loco.. like if you were saying "crazy in the head" you would say it "loca en la cabeza".. generally speaking, if the subject is feminine, all other words in the sentence are too, and if the subject is masculine all other words are too... it has nothing to do with the persons damn sexual preference.. give me a freggin break.. ashley pyroshwee@aol.com In a message dated 6/23/99 2:18:03 PM Eastern Daylight Time, messiahcomplex@yahoo.com writes: << But if you ARE such a Ricky Martin fan, you would know that "lavida" is actually two words "La Vida" and that the title translates to Living The Crazy Life (with feminine connotation).
