I agree that alternative music is taking a sad dive. Although some of the newer music is catchy and a few of the bands have hope, what happened to music with substance? I guess art imitates life. Too many things now-a-days are becoming flakey, corporate or just plain bad. Anyway, I live in Western Nebraska. Becoming a fan of bands that are relatively obscure is rather difficult. The only thing that makes it clear out here is whatever I happen to hear on the radio or through the grapevine. No one out here has ever heard of Poe - even the music buffs. Luckily one of my friends saw her in a bar somewhere and let us in on it. I'm tired of the crap on the radio being played over and over. What sort of advice do you have for a poor country girl? ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 01 Jun 1999 21:37:42 1 From: "Dona Smith" Subject: Tragic Demise i combat the industry's ugly trend of making bad music by a) not listening to the awful radio a whole lot and b) becoming a fan of bands that are relatively obscure, either in the states or in terms of radio coverage.
