Dustin Shelby - - http://www.neptin.com/ ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 01 May 1999 12:43:16 PDT From: "Shirley Loves Clowns" Subject: not very PR: favorite singles this is going to start another inane "list ur fave [whatever]" thread, but i think they can be kindy fun. so...how's about fave singles? i don't mean the track that's been released, but the actual single cd itself, ie including the bsides/remixes. to start things off, my list in relative descending order: 1. portishead, "sour times" (domestic) - the two "sour times" remixes are ok, but everything else on the cd is awesome. the two remixes of "numb" are great, esp "tribute to monk and canatella," very jazzy and hella cool. but the one best track on there is probably my fave portishead song ever, "theme from to kill a dead man"; there's absolutely no way i can describe this song in words, u've gotta hear to believe it. 2. garbage, "i think i'm paranoid" 3" (import) - two great bsides and two amazing remixes, and since i'm sure a lot of u guys are G fans, u'll want to check this one out if u haven't already. "deadwood" is the epitome of a garbage song, w/ an acoustic guitar accompanied by industrial beats and other electro fx. "afterglow" has a very silky, very massive attack feel. "i think i'm crystallized" is crystal method, which needs no further saying, and the jill stark mix is dark and evil. in a cool way. 3. pOe, "thj" - pretty hard to find, a real gem. "drive by remix" - cool. "psycho demolition mix" - awesome. "padre fear" - the absolute best pOe song i've ever heard. 4. massive attack, "risingson" - all throughout great remixes, plus "superpredators," the best hardest of MA's songs. 5. the prodigy, "firestarter" (import version) - the empirion mix is incredible, and "molotov bitch" is vintage the prodigy. 6. the prodigy, "Breathe" - even tho i've heard that they do the exact same thing over and over in their shows, the two live tracks ("their law" and "poison") are still awesome, and "the trick" is just as good as "molotov." honorable mentions: pearl jam, "jeremy" - just for the ledbetter. garbage, almost all from the first album. 75% of the bsides are album worthy. metallica, "memory remains" (import version) - "the outlaw torn", long version.-Shirley Loves Clowns <==> Sad Alcoholic Clown Visit my site at http://members.tripod.com/~Mettic/front.html If you like elitist opinions and lots of arbitrary lists, this is the place!
