David Bowie used to put out an album a year in the 70s. And those were not horrible workhorse albums with obviously no love and excitement and inspiration in them, were they? So I wonder whether musical artists are just more lazy these days or what. I mean, the Beatles had a really punishing schedule and I wouldn't wish it on anyone, but 4 or 5 years in between albums starts to get ridiculous. Oh well, Sonic Youth's been putting out lots of stuff lately, so I suppose I need not complain. Twalen Fleety MonkeyMan _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? As a poet, I can honestly attest that I've written some of my best poems in a single sitting--in under an hour; but that I've also written some of my best poems over a period of twenty years. I just completed, for instance, a haiku, which emerged from 1 poem written in 1979 and two others written in '81. Yes, The Beatles were brilliant. They were the best (if not necessarily my favorite, tho close). But even my favorite band, Jefferson Airplane, usually put out only one per year. I think that being a solo artist is slower, too. George Harrison would contribue two songs, Ringo one, and John & Paul probably 4 or 5 each, not to mention whatever covers they might have done early on...so the burden wasn't quite so concentrated. But POE is on her own. She doesn't have a Paul, George & Ringo to tie up loose ends or fill her album up....and you know that if she were putting out 2 CDs a year, I'd be at the front of the line to buy them! Both rock. The single has a lot of phrases that Bruce Willis uses in the game. Most sound kinda silly since they are completely out of context. Oh, well. I just had to say 'I won them' to some people who at least have some semblence of caring. Pour out the darkness...
