Subject: NPR: Help? OK guys... I got a question. Remember back over the summer with the huge debate over whether POE was christian or not? I just went through all my old messages and couldn't find what I was looking for... I remember someone saying something about how there used to be a feminine deity in the bible, a female counterpart to god, and I was sort of wondering what her name was, etc. If anybody can remember or knows what I'm talking about, could you please help me out here? Thanks! Thanks! Erin -- Have you ever been so drunk that you were making out with somebody and you realized it was yourself? >> Although there are many references to pagan goddesses in the Bible, there is no female counterpart to God referred to.Anyone who tells you otherwise is perverting the facts, although Jewish and other folklores have occasionally played with the idea. What the Bible teaches is that God is a spirit and true worshippers worship in spirit and truth............primary aspects of spirit are will and love, not gender.Gender is something that was created by God,not something that God is held to by "nature".At several times God tells the Jews;"Behold,I am married unto thee."If you take this to mean that the nation of Israel is God's wife, then that could indicate a possible female counterpart(also, the "church" is supposedly Christ's body and his bride---they are one).God also said to them;"Behold,ye are Gods!"And Christ alluded a number of times to the notion that there are many gods and goddesses, but only one true God.If you see what I am getting at,you realize the possibility that we,the race of Man,are collectively the female counterpart of God.............and the offspring of the relationship too.Certainly the goddesses worshipped by the pagans of that time and area are not to be misconstrued as "female counterparts of God",since God is a spirit, not a gender, and obviously not of this earthly plane as were these deities. If you go into pagan mythologies you might find the omnipotent Goddess you are looking for. BTW.what on earth would it take to get that drunk?Making out with yourself.........LOL.Was it really good........is that the eerie part?:-)Sounds like something worth a try. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 21 Jan 1999 01:54:48 -0500 From: Rusty M Shelby Subject: Poe's view on trading (was POE VS CDS) >If I recall, Rusty showed Poe the tape trees and she was delighted >with the idea but I guess thought one or two of the performances on >them were not up to par, and she said tape trees were fine as long as >she got to listen/approve them before they got distributed. I feel as though I've been waiting forever for Poe's new CD to come out, and finally, I was given a glimer of hope. On the Play Station game Apocolype starring Bruce Willis, Poe was a character in the game, and she also did a song for it. In the music credits, it said her new albumn was going to be released sometime in 1999. Does anybody know if it's true or not??? I need to look for some music who's lyrics are somewhat related to biology. In other words, the listener has to understand something about biology in order to understand the song. My teacher also put some restrictions, he said it can't have any profanity or offensive content. An example of something that would work is the Aquabats' "cat with two heads" So that's all. If anyone knows of any songs, just e-mail me. I'd really appreciate any help. bye, Di `~.~`~.~`~.~`~.~`~.~`~.~`~.~`~.~`~.~`~.~`~.~`~.~`~.~`~.~`~.~`~.
